Newberry Springs, California is a very small peaceful town located off of Historic Route 66, also known as the "Mother Road".
It is most famously known for our groves of pistachios and the famous Baghdad Cafe which was featured in the 1987 film Baghdad Cafe. Our property happens to be 1.5 miles from the famous Baghdad Cafe which makes a quick visit to the Cafe incredibly convenient.
To celebrate our Pistachios, come join us the first Saturday of every November for our Pistachio Festival which boasts lots of vendors, food, and fun!
Speaking of festivals, if you like large firework shows in the sky, then you'll want to be sure to book a spot here every July 3rd for our big 3rd of July Festival which again, is home to lots of vendors, food, fun and an amazing firework display which we happen to have front row seats to. You won't have to worry about parking if you're already here!
Do you love celestial events? If so, you'll want to book a site here between July 17th and August 24th for the 2025 year, to witness the Perseids Meteor Shower. Our night skies are also one of the best views for many Space X launchings as well as just simply stargazing. Even though Deep Creek has never had any known cases of amoeba outbreaks, be advised that the warm waters around hot springs can carry a sometimes fatal amoeba.
*Although children are permitted at most sites on the property (children are not permitted at the cabin or spring pool sites), we do not recommend bringing them due to occasional nudity that may be seen in the area and the degree of difficulty for the hike. In order to be prepared with the correct gear to make the hike to the hot springs and know the USFS rules that apply to the area, please educate yourself before coming by visiting the USFS website page for the Deep Creek area. The Deep Creek Hot Springs Campground is part of the historic Bowen Ranch property that was homesteaded in 1924 and has been the camping and parking area for the Deep Creek Hot Springs for nearly a century. Holcomb Valley Ranch invites you to kick back and relax on our private, 400+ acre ranch in the San Bernardino Mountains. Centered around a 100+ acre meadow, filled with horses in summer months and surrounded by thousands of acres of mountainous National Forest.
Just 15 minutes from Big Bear Lake - a large recreational, fresh-water lake for summer swimming, boating, skiing, fishing and other super fun water activities.
The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails.
Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s).
The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents.
From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails.
After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow.
The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance.

Please note:
OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes.
Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Please do not approach, interact, feed or touch the horses. This is for your safety and the safety of the horses. Do, however, take lots of photos! They make a perfect backdrop:)

We’re 13 miles from Fremont Peak, 14 miles from Grass Valley Wilderness, and just 4 miles from Cuddleback Dry Lake — the perfect location for all your outdoor toys. The property features mostly flat landscapes, making setup easy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Jacob and Jeanette. We were greeted at the gate and guided to our easy, flat and scenic spot. Jacob is very warm and welcoming. He makes you feel like family! All of our questions were answered and help was offered as needed. Go stay with them and watch gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.

Private scenic clean campsite. Theres 2 cute dogs who chilled with me the whole time. Overall had a great camping experience. The camp is gated so it fell really safe and the host greated me at the site.

I was looking to camp near Calico, for California Days. This camp was private, peaceful, and quiet. I enjoyed hearing the turkeys and the occasional train whistle. The scenery is beautiful and remote. Matthew was very nice and helpful with directions. This site requires that your rig be self-contained, as there are no amenities. I would stay again.

We loved tent camping on Emily & Murphs land! They’re wonderful hosts and met us on arrival. It was so quaint and beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on the swing with our coffee watching the sun come through the trees. There dog is so sweet as well!

Loved our weekend staycation here! Abby was so communicative and helpful leading up to the trip and get around the area (due to dirt roads, etc). The home was the perfect size for us (two humans and a pup) and was so cozy.

Great directions and communication from Captain Jon. Even though he is closed for the season, he graciously answered my query about a one night stay. I had wanted to stop earlier in the season, but he had sold out for the night! This was a very peaceful quiet overnight for me & my dog. The temps were cold so we did not swim in the clear pond. But we watched a beautiful sunset, and beautiful sunrise. I hope you return in warmer weather, to dip my toes in the pond!!
There is a coin-op laundry room for those that need it. And RV hookups.

6 nights at The Nook
The Nook was the perfect place to honeymoon for two people who wanted to have peace, nature, and privacy. We arrived during a storm and would not have made it to the property if we hadn’t had four wheel drive, no doubt. It’s just remote enough - we could still drive into town easily but were surrounded by woods and wildlife. It had everything we needed and more, and our stay was perfect.

Site 4 was exactly what we were hoping for. Cold, clear weather with perfect desert nights and wide open skies. The campsite was quiet, clean, and genuinely beautiful, with plenty of space to relax and take it all in. It felt peaceful without feeling too isolated, and everything was well cared for. We will definitely be back.

This is a really beautiful place to camp. The property is surrounded by mountains, and there are lots of trails to walk, with Joshua Trees and other cool desert plants. It's very quiet - I didn't see a single car drive by while I was here! The dirt road to get here is a little bumpy, but not bad at all. I definitely recommend staying here, and it's a really peaceful campsite!
