Just 15 minutes from Big Bear Lake - a large recreational, fresh-water lake for summer swimming, boating, skiing, fishing and other super fun water activities.
The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails.
Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s).
The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents.
From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails.
After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow.
The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance.

Please note:
OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes.
Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Please do not approach, interact, feed or touch the horses. This is for your safety and the safety of the horses. Do, however, take lots of photos! They make a perfect backdrop:)

OUR STORY
Our farm story began in 2018, when on a whim and a prayer we purchased a rundown home and land. After years of acquiring many blisters, animals, plants and weird suntans, we eventually created the home and farm of our dreams. Our emphasis in the beginning of this journey was to create a space in which our children (along with ourselves) learned the value of producing our own food, fiber, meat and eggs. We challenged ourselves to learn sustainable and organic farming practices, and the emphasis soon changed to how can we share this journey and all that we have learned with more than just our children.
So…..here we are, sharing our hard work and ambition with you. For now, this ambition is in the form of HomeMade Jams, Jellies, Teas, Seasonings and Confections that is procured from our own organically grown gardens and trees along with HandMade fiber creations from our small Alpaca herd. I would like to be able to say that we grew everything that goes into our ingredients, but we are not that good at everything yet! So to keep in the spirit of ethical sustainability along with ensuring a high quality and great tasting product, we purchase ingredients from local organic farmers and shelf products that not only have the USDA Organic seal, but are non-GMO, ethically harvested and in some cases certified Kosher.
One day we hope to meet you and share our story with you by introducing you to the fruit trees my father grew from seed and let you feel the soft fiber of our eclectic herd of misfit Alpacas while you watch the glorious Southern California sunset touch the hot desert horizon we call home.

My husband and I had a great stay at the Ranch. It is very beautiful and the site we were in (A1) was right on the meadow, with some tall trees for shade and a great view of the sunset. The port-a-potties that were scattered around the site were very clean, and there was firewood and water for extinguishing fires at our site when we arrived. The only challenge was the drive up, which included, as the Ranch mentioned, some very bumpy unpaved roads. Our SUV made it, but it was slow going in a Kia Telluride. Big jeep-type vehicles had an easier time than we did. I would not drive up in a sedan or smaller car. The drive down the mountain after our visit was worth the stay--just sweeping views of the lake and snow-capped mountains.

Beautiful, well maintained property with so many sequoias and pines. Great, quick communication from Walid was appreciated. We did the Jenks lake hike 7 min drive from the site and that was a perfect activity with the kids. Had a lovely time soaking up all the quiet + nature sounds on the property. There’s a perfect area to set up 3 hammocks in a triangle of trees and read/nap. Fire pit under the stars + s’mores made for some great memories :)

Had a great time at the camp! Wide open space with amazing desert sunsets - not too far from civilization, but far enough to feel like you’re away from it all. There is no shade at the site - plan accordingly. Will be back.

I love the privacy Star Ranch offered! The campground was well equipped. I didn’t know the two cabin was included on the reservation, so that was a bonus that we all loved! The covered common area (kitchen, dining) are awesome. We were so ecstatic about the flushing toilet and hot shower!! Overall, this place is amazing!! If you want privacy and do not want to give up luxury and comfort, this place is for you!! Thank you Osman for hosting us. We will be back for sure!

Perfect spot for our family of four (7mo old and 3 year old). Green Valley Lake was a great area to stay in and the house was very and clean and welcoming. Our daughter loved the games and books and there were many other thoughtful touches. Would recommended and definitely stay here again!

I had a very peaceful night at Star Ranch. After driving from Texas for 11 hours, I was so ready for a good night’s sleep. In the morning I woke to the sound of nearby chickens clucking, and a barred owl hooting off in the distance.
The A-frame was a lot more spacious than I thought it would be, having seen the pictures of it on HipCamp. The campsite would have been perfect for a small group, but I was happy to be there on my own.

Went with our 2 large rescue dogs and they loved it. The place was clean and well equiped. It was cold outside at night but the heater worked great. Instructions on how to reach the parking were detailed and easy to follow. Its a really great spot and so close to LA. If you bring your pets, a set of shoes for your furry friends would be a good idea due to the broken glass that pops up in the sand around the area. Our dogs had shoes so no worries for them. As with any off grid space in the California desert, wildlife is a thing to be aware of. There was a family of large coyotes that passed by one afternoon, so keep any eye on your pets. Would definitely come back to enjoy the spot again.

The place was great! There was wood close by that I used for the fire pit and cooking. I left some small cardboard in the pit for others to use to help start their fires. Beautiful scenery too. No animals, no critters, which was nice. I drove in at night and got lost for a minute, but found my way to site 4 once I saw the posts labeled with numbers. Overall great experience, I'd recommend.

This is a great little cabin for a family. It has lots of beds and everything you need for a getaway. It’s walking distance from the shops, restaurants, and lake. The owner responds super quickly and is very accommodative.

My friends and I had such a great time on this property! So spacious, there is so much provided by the host, it’s very private, and we had just the best time. Walid was super nice and hospitable, definitely recommended mend staying here
