Ettawa Springs Resort dates back to the 1920s like the fashionable resorts in the Cobb area where the rich and famous came to play. But Ettawa was oriented towards families and a more relaxed and rustic atmosphere. We are working hard to restore her to her former glory. We are excited to announce that we have one cabin and a few campsites ready for use and will be adding more as we go. The campground offers hot showers and flush toilets, two sites in the Glade have running water and power. The cabin is a fully equipped studio with kitchen and bathroom.
You can hike through our property to the Boggs Mountain Demonstration Forest or just enjoy the clean air and listen to the wind and the birds. On clear nights the stars put on an amazing show. Clear Lake is about 45 minutes away with all the fishing and water sports you could ask for. Harbin Hot Springs are 15 minutes away and they offer day passes for reasonable rates.
We are located about 20 minutes outside of Middletown. Be aware that half of the road is dirt (and that's better than the asphalt half) all of it is fine for small cars, just take your time. The last 1/2 mile or so is a one lane road, so please be careful of opposing traffic and uneven surfaces. We cannot accommodate vehicles longer than 28’ on these roads. Please do not take County Road 110 from Boggs/Cobb - it is not maintained at all.
We offer California camping at its finest. Fresh air, whispering trees, amazing star fields . . . this can mean the less attractive side of nature as well. We have ticks, rattlesnakes, stinging things, poison oak, uneven trails and surfaces, and a bear on one ridge with mountain cats on the other (no sign of either in the campground). We keep the restroom stocked with Tecnu for the poison oak, but please watch yourselves and especially children. Dogs are welcome, but should be kept on lead and inside at night for their own protection and the comfort of others.
We are fairly hands off in our hosting approach. Unless there's a question or problem, you likely won't see us. But we have people close by and are only a message away.

Surrounded by cooperate timberland, it feels like there are no neighbors! There is not a house in sight but the the ridge views seem to go on forever!
- There is a simple latrine at each site. A full bath house with a flush toilet and hot shower is available next to the main house. A water spigot is attached to the main house.
- Spare camping supplies are available by the bath house if you forget something! Ask ahead if you need to borrow a specific item.
More about the property: I built my home high upon a southern ridge. Watching the river of coastal fog flow in and out below me is one of the most wonderful views to behold! I have 30 acres of land to explore and camp upon in the surrounding redwood forest.
10 miles east are Montgomery Woods redwood preserve with GIANT trees, and a little farther, perhaps a mile is the famous Orr Hot Springs Resort. If you drive a half hour west from my land you will be in the coastal Mendocino village.
We are marijuana friendly!! Thus, we have created more of an adult oriented atmosphere.

I arrived to Cosmo’s super late after a long day going up the coast. It was a last minute book that morning, if I remember right - my campsite had fallen through. His directions were spot on, and very kindly he stayed up to take me to my site and help me get set up, even going so far as to light me a fire. His property was easily navigable in the dark, and my two wheel drive made it fine. We talked for a while - what a cool guy. He was able to give me recommendations from a friend of what to do during the next legs of my trip, which was great and really did make a difference for the rest of my week. I cooked my dinner and sat stunned looking at some of the best stargazing I’ve had in a long time.When I woke up I realized that I had been sleeping next to a mountainside view - this was site 3. Talk about the best surprise I’ve gotten in a while unzipping a tent. The clouds were gathered in the valley and as I ate breakfast I got to watch the sun slowly clear then out. It was unbelievable.Before I left, Cosmo let me use his indoor solar-heated shower and told me all about his projects to build his own home and roads and move towards a more sustainable future. Overall this is really the best of what I imagine hipcamp has to offer - kind property owners & unique individuals who care about their guests while also allowing them to have their own experience. If I’m ever near Mendocino I will gladly make the trip inland to stay at his property again."

We are so delighted to share this spot with you. This is a shared campground with 3 separate spots that are relatively private.
Host will NOT be there when you arrive unless prior arrangement made. This campground is yours to enjoy. The expectation is 'leave it better than before so the next guests may enjoy!
This is camping. BRING YOUR OWN GEAR. Put your own linens and bedding on top of what is already on bed. I can provide linens and bedding for an extra $25 for glamping spots. Beds have pillows on them.
There is wildlife. This includes bears and mountain lions in the area. You will not see either but good to be aware they exist.
This is a safe 'neighborhood'. We do not have problems with thievery. However, always keep your valuables safe IN YOUR CAR.
There is no Power. No WiFi. Cell phone coverage not guaranteed. Depends on your carrier. DOWNLOAD DIRECTIONS AND INFO BEFORE ARRIVING TO SITE.
There is Poison Oak. Stay in the designated areas. If you are susceptible, bring and wash with Tecnu. Or use dish soap and wash. Poison oak is an oil. Most importantly: Don't Touch.
No Fires allowed during Summer months. Be super careful. No candles. Smoke in fire pit area. Grass is a tinderbox. 1 spark can ignite all. There is a hose connected to kitchen.
There is a Pet Fee stay. 1 pet per site allowed unless prior arrangement made. You are responsible to clean up after your pet and to make sure pet is safe and respectful to neighbors. This means you DO NOT leave your pet unattended, and is leashed at all times. If your pet is barking continuously, we ask that you leave. It is not respectful for all other neighbors.
Please bring your own bed for your dogs and clean up after a shedding dog if you are indoors.
We ask that guests clean up your camping spot upon departure to 'make the place better than before' for the next guests.
Butterfly Landing is a sweet landing spot! Birds, butterflies and small wildlife love this spot. The habitat includes many native species of plant life. A pretty knoll that is on the top of a 40 acre property. Views of vineyards, redwood trees, valley floor, and expansive sky. Private, Quiet and beautiful.
A central sunny meadow ties together 3 distinct private areas with a communal kitchen, bath-house, picnic-table sitting area and parking on the side. There is 1 outhouse that has a mailbox system to ensure privacy. (Please read manual on picnic table for instructions)
Kitchen. 2 burner propane stove, and sink with running water (cold). (Good for drinking. Pressure is low) There is basic cooking and dishware. Cleaning supplies. A Trash and Recycle Bin. And a Compost bucket where all food scraps should be disposed of and then covered with wood-chips. Kitchen should stay clean at all times. Please put dishes away in the tote to keep clean and critter free.
Bath-house. Shower with hot water.
1 shared Outhouse. Please use the path that goes to the outhouse (unless you are in the Greenroom) and make sure you put the mailbox red flag up so that others know it is occupied. ((Then don't forget to put it back down!!)
Common sitting area. There are 2 picnic tables, Lots of umbrellas that can be moved wherever, a fire pit/table and lots of seating.
Parking. There are room for 3 vehicles. Parking is to be in designated parking area please.
Sunny meadow and forest shade make this a lovely landing spot to relax and enjoy nature, and a great opportunity to turn off those cell phones!!
Butterfly Landing is about 1/2 mile from HWY 128 that runs through Anderson Valley. This location is the perfect location for it all. Wine tasting in the Valley, Navarro River swimming during the summer months, and the Mendocino coast is nearby.
This is an Honor system camping spot. We ask that you leave your spot 'better than before', as in 'Leaver no Trace'. I rely on everyone to do their part in the communal kitchen to keep clean and free of critters.
SUPER IMPORTANT to put all food scraps in the compost bin. NO food anything in the trash. This is how the bears show up. Please do your part.

Established in 2012.Camp Noyo was first developed as a logging camp for the Union Lumber Company in 1907. Originally called "Camp Four," it was the fourth camp established by the lumber company as they progressed east from Fort Bragg along the current route of the California Western Railroad. In 1933, the Union Lumber Company donated the property to the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts began using the site in the summer 1934 and continue to use the property for several weeks every summer.In 2012, Allan Hemphill, his son Brian, and a small group of family friends purchased the property from the Boy Scouts. The Hemphill family has been care taking Camp Noyo for over 60 years. We decieded to open the property to the public in 2015 for camping in the summer.

There is a fishpond with water lilies, mini golf course and pétanque court (both with equipment in a useful shed close by), a horse shoe ring and beautiful, natural secluded spots in the redwoods perfect for meditation and vision questing. Huckleberry bushes and ferns grow abundantly. The place lends itself to self-reflection and introspection. There is space for 1 RV with a patio table and chairs and some sun loungers. There are also 2 tent sites available on the property, located in one large area, further away from the RV sites. Barely 7 minutes away is downtown Gualala, with amenities such as 2 supermarkets, pharmacy, bakery, restaurants and more. There is a beautiful holistic gift store, The Sea Trader, Four Eyed Frog Bookstore, and some lovely art galleries in town. Kayaking is available at the Gualala River. Hiking at Gualala Regional Park, the Bluff Trail, The Sea Ranch public access beaches, Stump Beach, Salt Point Park with a petrified forest, Bowling Ball Beach with its amazing natural formations (can only be seen fully at low tide of more than -0.2m), Manchester State Beach, Elk Beach, and more. Anchor Bay is 5 miles up CA 1, with a supermarket, a few cafes, restaurants (including a great Thai place!) laundromat, hair salon, and more. The quaint town of Point Arena is 12 miles north, with a supermarket, Frannie's Cup And Saucer, The Bird Cafe, a beautiful historic lighthouse, a theater, a pier, a mini-safari park (B Bryan Preserve with zebras, giraffes and more. Tours need to be booked in advance). Also visit Roots, a natural pharmacy for herbs, teas and supplements.
There are also spots like Occidental, Bodega Bay, Jenner (with the Russian River to kayak and swim) and Timber Cove, all on the way to Gualala from the south. Bodega Bay has lovely spots to eat, with clam chowder, fish and chips. Enjoy wind and water sports, and walk on the pier.

We are Albion locals lucky enough to call the Oak Show home. We live on the other end of the Oak Show property, a distance providing ample privacy for guests.
We have two young children and two Lab mix dogs. You may see us walking along the driveway. Please drive slowly. We share this space with our neighbors, children, and pets. We also ask that campers be mindful of noise in the evenings and respect our rule of all amplified music being off between the hours of 10pm-8am.
The water on our property comes from our well. Please be respectful of the drought conditions in our area and conserve water in any way possible.
The base rate for this site includes up to four people, there is an extra charge of $15 per day, per person for any extra people. Campers can set up tents or trailers around the site and have access to the kitchen and bathroom, as well as an outdoor shower. There is a kegerator, gas grill, propane heater, and a corn hole set available to rent (see Extras). There is plenty of space to set up multiple tents, perfect for a group. Navarro Beach and Van Damme State Beach are 15 minute drives away. The village of Albion has a general store and deli, as well as beautiful river and marina. A 20 minute drive North will get you to the village of Mendocino where you'll find shopping and restaurants, as well as access to hiking, biking, kayaking, and whale watching.

This magical place is far out there! We are providing a setting for those adventurers who want a place to REALLY "get away from it all." Expect a beautiful 30 minute drive on gravel roads through mature Redwood forest from the village of Mendocino. The property is also accessible from Fort Bragg via HWY 20 and road 408/Little Lake Rd.
The Aloha Cabin is a beautiful one room timber frame cabin located on a ridge top in the Redwood forest. Upon entering the gate at Old Mill Farm the Aloha Cabin is the first building you see as you come out of the thick forest and into the mixed meadow/forest ridge top of the property. Old Mill Farm is a 320 ranch in the middle of Mendocino county's 50,000 acre JDSF (Jackson State Demonstration Forest.) The Aloha sits by itself about a 1/2 mile from the rest of the ranch buildings and like the entire ranch is completely off-grid. Electricity is provided by a solar photovoltaic system and battery back up. All water is pumped with solar power and gravity fed throughout the property. You will be imbedded in the outdoors with ample opportunity to commune with the forest and the wildlife that live there.
The Aloha has a kitchen equipped for cooking with refrigerator, range and oven. There is a bathroom with a flush toilet and a private outdoor shower.
We provide linens and bedding for the full size bed and towels for 4 guests. There is also a sleeping loft (with no bedding included but can be added as an extra.) Please bring your own pads and sleeping bags to use the loft or pitch a tent in the front yard.
The front yard is fenced and has a fire pit. Always be fire conscious - never burn outside of the fire pit and extinguish all fires before leaving or bed.
You are free to relax in the natural beauty of this place, meditate while walking our earthen labyrinth or hike around the property along the ridge and on the logging roads that descend on each side. I stayed here with my family and it was the perfect spot! Super close to beautiful coastal hikes and a cozy nook between trees with easy access to close by towns for any supplies. G was super responsive and helpful. We got some rain despite the forecast saying clear sky's but no issues in our tents and the cabin stayed toasty! I would definitely come stay here again.

My partner and I had a beautiful time at the cabin! We took the trip because of our oldest dog. He has some health issues so we wanted to give him some space to run with our other dog. We had to reschedule our booking a couple of times and Cas was really accommodating for this. Can't wait to be back soon!

We had a great time staying at the Mushroom Cabin! It was just the right balance of being in the woods and still in civilization. You are right near the host's home but the Mushroom Cabin was set back a bit and still felt private. Short drive to the coast and then up to Mendocino.

Weekend Trip to The Oak Show
Absolutely stunning surroundings in an incredibly comfortable cabin. The wood stove heated up the entire cabin quickly, we drank hot tea and watched the day slip into dusk with the entire vista spread out before us. We relaxed on the patio in the Adirondack chairs with coffee early the next morning and were in seventh heaven. This property is a jewel. The forest has beautiful trails and wildlife. Plenty of firewood for the stove. Thank you for sharing your sanctuary with us!

Exceptionally beautiful location and a true hidden gem. The stream is absolutely beautiful and totally private. The kind of place you’ll never forget and be so glad you found. Truly an unforgettably beautiful place to be. We could have spent days on days enjoying the water and would absolutely return if we have the opportunity.
Host is terrific, instructions are all thorough and accurate - she provides great communication if needed.
Cabin itself is a vintage gem! Furnishings are basic but exactly as shown in the photos so you know what to expect - ie) no real seating beyond the bed and the two outdoor chairs in the main room. We were only two so it was fine. Cabin is very dark and we used headlamps and some extra lights - would have loved more lighting to be able to enjoy the beautiful cabin. Would be nice if there were some rugs and a door mat, both to make it cozy and help with wet shoes on a very rainy day, which we had when we arrived. Kitchen is quite well equipped and you can do all the cooking you want to, with a few key exceptions: no toaster or basic spices (beyond salt & pepper), so bring those. Mugs are cute enamel but not ideal for hot drinks, so bring your travel mugs. No sink stopper so if you have a dish pan in your camping gear, you’d likely use that.
One bed squeaks so bring your earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.
None of that is to say this isn’t an exceptional find - just would have loved to know these particular things so passing the favor along!

This is absolutely stunning experience. If I would describe that in just one word, it would be “privacy”. You are all alone and barely see the host. The site is well fought and nicely organized. The amenities is just enough. you surrounded by a beautiful forest but beautiful and worthy point Arena coast hike is just 15 minutes away. Five stars experience. Highly recommend.

4 nights at Old Mill Farm
This was our second stay at this magical cabin, and it was just as wonderful as the first. This time we brought our two dogs, who absolutely loved exploring the forest. Being surrounded by old growth redwoods is something special: the quiet and the sense of being completely immersed in nature. The cabin itself is cozy, comfortable, and has everything you need. Cas is an excellent host, very helpful and quick to respond, and made everything easy from start to finish.

What a perfect mix of comfort and roughing it. We got the extreme weather w/ Thunder and Lightning but everything was cozy in the pickle barrel. It was so perfect to return from our skunk train rainy adventure complete with pouring rain that had collapsed our tarps, but we quickly built a fire in the cottage. tossed the teens in, fixed the tarps. got dinner. going everything right back on track. The compostable toilet is the best we've seen yet in a Hip Camp or otherwise. Our host was perfectly available cor guidance and check in but otherwise unseen. beautiful little hiking loop to take the dog on a quick Trek.
We will definitely return. One word of advice, because you need to take out your trash I would advise doing it daily. We waited and then getting rid of a large bag of trash was challenging before heading back. We travelled home with it because everyone locked their Trash bins these days. One final 💭 The bed was sheer comfort. perfect for two who sleep close. Fantastic old furniture that feels historic and beautiful. yeah, the other danger is that then you leave you may decide you want a pickle barrel and it turns out they're pretty hard to find 🥒 🙏

Weekend Trip to Baby Banana Slug Farm
The Mushroom Cabin was tiny and lovely! It was just me traveling from far away, and I very much appreciated the front porch kitchen. The property is beautiful and remote, the cabin is private, and the central wash house has all of the amenities (shower, toilet, sink for dishes, and a well-appointed communal kitchen). And the name of this place is no joke - there are banana slugs all over (as a UCSC grad I felt right at home).

Great piece of secluded acreage to explore / rest / recoup / revive. The cabin was perfect for my family of 5 plus 1 dog. It had just what we needed for the stay. great spot if you have pets since there is a generous sized fenced in area. Secluded enough for a peaceful tranquil stay but not too far (30 min) to explore in Fort Bragg and Mendocino coast. We met Cas and his dog on our first walk exploring the property. Cas was a friendly guy who was very informative and helpful when we had questions on what to do around the area and history of the property. We look forward to hopefully staying there again some day.
