In 1951 Herman and Clara Nelson sold their ranch in what is now Silicon Valley and headed north, landing in Southern Mendocino County near the town of Hopland. You will be staying on a working ranch, vineyards, and winery. We have several locations but none of them have hookups at this time. We have vineyard views and oak woodlands and hilltop valley views. We host weddings and other events. We have a tasting room and a redwood picnic area. We are the fourth owners of this property. The ranch has produced hops, prunes, pears, wine grapes, sheep, and cattle at different periods. Currently, we grow pears, grapes, strawberries, and Christmas trees.

Welcome to our peaceful, organically farmed vineyard, Duncan Peak Vineyards, conveniently located just off Highway 101 for easy access, yet surrounded by nature’s quiet charm.
Use of Dome: We have a dome located next to the pond, with a table, chairs, air mattress, and couch inside. You’re welcome to use it during your stay. The dome is shared by all campers on the property and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please clean up after yourself and make sure the curtains and zip door are fully closed when you leave.
Our vineyard is entirely free of herbicides and chemical pesticides, so you can relax knowing you're camping in a clean, eco-friendly environment. You'll be staying on a working vineyard where a few full-time residents (both human and animal!) live on site.
Pets are welcome! We have a few friendly resident dogs who roam freely during the day. They may bark when unfamiliar vehicles arrive, but they’re good with both people and other animals. Once they’ve had a chance to get familiar, they settle down quickly and usually go about their day. For everyone’s comfort, they’re brought indoors at night.
Potable water is available on site for your convenience. We kindly ask that all guests remain fully self-contained throughout their stay, meaning you’ll need to use your own toilet and shower facilities. If needed, restrooms are also available at a nearby gas station.
Just a few recommendations for your stay: since you’ll be spending time outdoors in the vineyard, we recommend wearing long pants and closed-toe shoes. It’s also a good idea to use tick and mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and a hat, especially during the warmer parts of the day. Please be mindful of uneven ground, gopher holes, poison oak in undeveloped areas, and wildlife such as deer, snakes, and other animals that are common in rural environments.

Our property boasts year round creeks, waterfalls, swimming holes, Madrones, Oaks, Douglas firs and manzanitas. Wild horses roam the land as well as the occasional mountain lion and black bear. On the human end we have an ancient walnut grove as well as many fruit trees two small ponds all in total privacy at the very end of the road. Clear Lake Campground is a small, vintage RV and tent campground, established in the 1950s. Camp right on Cache Creek, the only outlet of Clear Lake. The campground offers fishing, kayaking, and boating right from Camp. A car or boat is required to get to Clear Lake. For lake fishing, Redbud Park, Highlands Park and Austin Park are all within a ten minute drive from Camp. Austin Park also has a playground and swimming beach.

Ettawa Springs Resort dates back to the 1920s like the fashionable resorts in the Cobb area where the rich and famous came to play. But Ettawa was oriented towards families and a more relaxed and rustic atmosphere. We are working hard to restore her to her former glory. We are excited to announce that we have one cabin and a few campsites ready for use and will be adding more as we go. The campground offers hot showers and flush toilets, two sites in the Glade have running water and power. The cabin is a fully equipped studio with kitchen and bathroom.
You can hike through our property to the Boggs Mountain Demonstration Forest or just enjoy the clean air and listen to the wind and the birds. On clear nights the stars put on an amazing show. Clear Lake is about 45 minutes away with all the fishing and water sports you could ask for. Harbin Hot Springs are 15 minutes away and they offer day passes for reasonable rates.
We are located about 20 minutes outside of Middletown. Be aware that half of the road is dirt (and that's better than the asphalt half) all of it is fine for small cars, just take your time. The last 1/2 mile or so is a one lane road, so please be careful of opposing traffic and uneven surfaces. We cannot accommodate vehicles longer than 28’ on these roads. Please do not take County Road 110 from Boggs/Cobb - it is not maintained at all.
We offer California camping at its finest. Fresh air, whispering trees, amazing star fields . . . this can mean the less attractive side of nature as well. We have ticks, rattlesnakes, stinging things, poison oak, uneven trails and surfaces, and a bear on one ridge with mountain cats on the other (no sign of either in the campground). We keep the restroom stocked with Tecnu for the poison oak, but please watch yourselves and especially children. Dogs are welcome, but should be kept on lead and inside at night for their own protection and the comfort of others.
We are fairly hands off in our hosting approach. Unless there's a question or problem, you likely won't see us. But we have people close by and are only a message away.

Primal Lands at OZ Family Farm is set in the Rocktree Valley just East of Willits. We are a working family farm about 15 minutes, from the town center.
The camp sites are in a private pasture with views of snow capped mountains in the winter and a beautiful moon rising above the tree tops in the summer. There are two streams that the campsites are located next to. one seasonal and one year round. This peaceful valley is home to an extensive amount of wildlife. It hosts both wild pigs and turkeys as well as deer, bobcats, foxes, rabbits and an occasional mountain lion or bear have veen spotted. You should bring your binoculars because the valley is lined with acres upon acres of forests and wooded hills that are home to an incredible variety of birds and tree species.
We hope our primal land will help expose people to the diverse flora and fauna around them and help educate them to the need to protect the diversity in people, places and our planet. All of which bring an important piece of the puzzle to the table and hold keys to our past and future.
We hope to be able to have the honor of hosting many different groups that can gather here on this land for learning, teaching and cummuning with the nature that flourishes here.
There is an abundance of things to do in and around Willits. It can be your cozy get away to rest, read a book next to the sounds of the stream or hike and ride a bike or a horse down our dirt roads.
The Skunk Train in town can take you on a trip through through the Redwood Forest and Noyo River Canyon towards Fort Bragg. It stops along its route to see the Wolf Tree Redwood. The oldest along its tracks.
You also have the option of booking an excursion on the Railbikes which leave from both Willits or Fort Bragg and use the same train tracks.
If your driving to Fort Bragg you will want to go to Glass Beach on the coast and check out the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens or do a Scavenger Hunt.
There is also the Coast Redwood growing in Montgomery Woods State Park to our south having what was thought for a long time to be the tallest known tree in the world at close to 365 feet tall. It stands 5 stories higher than the Statue of Liberty.
In the town of Willits there a myriad of options. Eclectic shopping at Mazahan or Earths Treasures or classics at The GOOD Shoppe or Art in the Plaza. Gateway games offers weekly card and board game competitions or go visit Ridgewood Ranch, the final home of the legendary Racehorse Seabiscuit.
If camping , hiking and relaxing just isn't enough to fill your day there is golf available in Brooktrails and Mendocino County is home to ten different appellations of wine with over 25% dedicated to organic and sustainable farming.

We got stuck in traffic…hours of it…and Melissa cheered us on with the promise of a sweet night swim location. This place does not disappoint. Excellent directions made for an easy arrival after dark. We had time to recuperate and recharge with a slow morning and an adjusted time for a late checkout. Next time we’ll stay a couple of days. Where can I start? Tasting delicious flights of wines while sitting amongst a grove of giant red woods adjacent to the families vineyard was way more special than we expected. Oh, did I mention that the giant trees were planted by the great grandfather of the wonderful gent who served our wine? Scott was the perfect blend of kind and professional.
Now here’s the really good part. The property offers two main areas to spend the night. There’s a large oak tree that’s a popular site near the tasting room, but we were lucky enough to have a vehicle capable enough to navigate a relatively steep grade gravel road to the top of a bluff over looking the Russian River and surrounding farm land. It’s a bit remote and rustic for some, but it’s truly the perfect Northern California wine country getaway if you’re looking for a little quiet and solitude. Views of rolling hills with majestic oaks surrounding green vineyards as the sun set was unforgettable. It’s definitely a spot where we will return in our travels.

A unique experience and opportunity to be above the valley in a mountain setting. Unbelievable soothing salt pool. The sunrises are beyond moving! There is electricity, we did not use the sun kept our solar in check. Tap water and all kinds of comforterable seating. Area is a danger risk for fires, no camp fires but beautiful lighting is available at night. Short track up a narrow road, be sure to follow the clear instructions given and you will land in the perfect spot.
