Native Wildlife Creekside Tent Camp
We had a great time here. The location is very private and scenic, far away from anyone else. Brian was very helpful in answering any questions and detailed in instructions for the stay. Based on the hills and road surface coming in and out, definitely would make sure to have 4WD and good tire tread if there was any hint of rain on the roads. Our cars were fine, but all were midsize SUV or more capable. Will definitely plan to come back in the future!

Native Wildlife Creekside Tent Camp
Brian place was great, very isolated, warm with a bit of wind in the afternoon. Went there with awd SUVs and camper van, the dirt road is narrow and steep but no issue with the van.
Basic amenities are a real confort (electricity, freezer, toilets and shower) and Brian has been very responsive for any questions we had.

On our second trip to Griffin Holler we had an even better time than the first. Despite the heat wave and low water in the creek, we found some nice cool pools to dip our feet, and we had quite a few wildlife sightings. The young kids in the group had an absolute blast. Griffin Holler is a magical place and Brian is a fantastic host. Don't miss out!

The communication with Brian was great. I was concerned about making it up the dirt road in our Honda Odyssey but it was not difficult at all. Loved how private the site was, there was really no one around for miles.
I guess the only thing was that it’s really hard to judge a site from the photos and it was much more developed that I was hoping for. There was really no place to put the tent up but right next to the metal building on the property.

Native Wildlife Creekside Tent Camp
We had a wonderful time with our nature-loving five year old. If you want to enjoy the simplicity of nature in a private setting, this is for you. It was hot but the creek kept us cool and happy all day. We saw newts, fish, frogs, garter snakes, dragonflies, birds and turtles! The shaded outdoor kitchen was a great way to escape the heat and the cabin made dishwashing and bathing very convenient. Be sure to bring some camping chairs to keep off of the dusty ground and take in the creek with you.

Native Wildlife Creekside Tent Camp
What a great place for private camping! We had a fabulous time, and the kids didn't want to leave. Brian is very responsive host. We loved:
1. Wading in the creek
2 The absolute privacy
3. Flush toilet, shower, and kitchen sink with running (non-potable) water
4. Chest freezer to refreeze ice packs
5. Shady and stayed pretty cool even in 100F heat
6. The firepit (provided wood is super dry and burns great)
7. Seeing a lot of wildlife!
8. Cell signal booster for directions and texting other members of the party
9. Looking up at the stars from inside our tent (no need for the rain fly in summer!)
Things to be aware of (especially if you're tent camping with kids):
1. There is no grassy area to pitch your tent. It will be on dirt, so be prepared for your gear (and kids) to get pretty dusty!
2. There are bees. They buzzed about a fair bit while we cooked and ate, but we didn't freak out and they went about their normal business
3. There's an old tractor and a very rusty even older tractor on the property which are kid magnets!
4. The dirt road is long, and seems longer because you have to drive slowly. We got up and down in a Honda CR-V, a Chevy Bolt, and a high clearance minivan. Just drive slow and steady, and stay in the center of the road. Personally, we definitely wouldn't hike in our gear from the "helicopter pad." It's still pretty far, and if your car can make it up and down to the road before the gate, the rest of the road didn't seem any more challenging to us. However, conditions may vary depending on the time of year, and I was in the CR-V, so clearly was the least impacted.

We stayed for three nights and had a wonderful time. Our 7 and 10 year old granddaughters thought it was the best. It was the perfect location, very isolated and Brian was a great host.
It is a trek to get there but so worth it. You won’t want to leave. We will definitely be back and will stay longer next time.

Remote and private with enough amenities to make it a little more comfy than pure “roughing it”. The roads will require a little more clearance, we have a Honda Element and it was fine. One thing that’s really special about this place is the number and length of trails. I’ve stayed at a bunch of a hipcamps, and this one has everything you hope for but don’t really see. For van lifers this place could be a great recharge zone. Cheaper than a hotel with all the amenities you’ll need.

Brian's spot is really special. It's a trek to get to and you definitely need a high clearance vehicle. Once you are there you are truly isolated, but have everything you need. There's a sink, bathroom, even a shower. BBQ, fire pit, lights at night, iPhone chargers, and a wifi booster. There's a long picnic table under shade that could fit a large group. The swimming hole is about 100 yards up from the camp site. Brian was very responsive/helpful. An ice cooler would help for stays longer than 2 nights. Once you get to the spot, you're not leaving. Watch out for poison oak in the surrounding brush. There's firewood $7 a bundle.
Follow the directions closely. Do NOT put the coordinates into Google for directions - if you do it will take you on a very long route through Pine Mountain Rd which gets you close, but on the wrong side of the mountain. Put in the Adobe Creek address and then use his directions. The route coming from 101 is super windy, if you're able to come in from the Napa side, it's a bit of an easier drive.
Overall, if you're willing to take the drive in, it's well worth it.

Perfect spot for creekside camping

Epic spot tucked away down a 1.5 mile dirt road. Recommend 4x4 to get there, although it's just a steep fire road (an SUV/crossover would do just fine).
The spot is right next to a creek, and there's a rustic cabin w/ wood burning stove if you want it (we used it one of the nights when it rained, which was much appreciated!).
Pro-tip: Brian has installed a cell signal booster that you can turn on or off based on whether or not you want to have any usable cell service!

Brian was super communicative and helpful. Wood was supplied for the fire, propane for the grill, and instructions for getting there were very clear! Close to a couple of great hikes and 15 minutes away from Kelseyville

This is a beautiful one of a kind camping opportunity. Truly truly isolated, Griffin Hillary was a small haven of hiking, creek wading and outdoor fun. Thanks to Brian for hosting our group, we had a great time! I would say to future campers, this accommodation really requires a high clearance vehicle. Even to the hike in spot we didn’t feel comfortable taking our lower clearance vehicles past the beginning of the driveway. 10/10 would recommend if you’ve got a beastly ride, can’t wait to come back again!
