All to yourself
100% of recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp felt private.
This property was owned by the same family since the 1940's and used as a hunting property. The land is home to oak forest, chaparral and riparian wildlife, including deer, boar, fish, salamanders, butterflies, birds and more.  Newly purchased in the Spring of 2019, the lush property is undergoing a subtle makeover.  We are currently working to maintain the wild and natural beauty of the land while creating more access for guests to appreciate and enjoy it. Learn more about this land: Griffin Holler offers riparian habitat along the mile of Adobe Creek, views of Clearlake from the peaks and ridges. Swimming holes along the creek. Terraces of travertine formed from the springs. Wildlife. Peace. No neighbors. The road in requires moderate clearance and 4x4 in winter when roads are wet and can be muddy. In current Covid19 conditions it's possible to avoid contact while on the site but you must pack and gas up appropriately to avoid contact with anyone during your trip.Griffin Holler offers riparian habitat along the mile of Adobe Creek, views of Clearlake from the peaks and ridges. There is wood available up there for $7/bundle, please do not import wood from anywhere due to sudden oak death. You are also welcome to use the propane barbecue, stove (in cabin), or charcoal barbecue but shut off propane immediately after each use.
Toilet available
Flush toilet. The flush toilet in the cabin is on a septic system. Don't flush anything besides human waste and provided toilet paper. Water is off between 12/1-2/1 to avoid freeze damage.

No potable water
Bring your own water, purify from river or stream, purify from spigot, purify from pump, purify from hose, purify from tap. A spring provides water to the cabin via tap. Water is clear and clean but should be treated with UV or equivalent to eliminate bacteria before drinking. A creek also flows through the space which could be treated before drinking. We turn the tap water off between 12/1 and 2/1 to avoid freeze damage, but the creek flows year-round. We bring our own drinking water and use creek/tap water for boiling and dishes.
