This was originally a Girl Scout camp called Singing Pines back in the 30’s. You’ll see as you roam around some of the original buildings and structures. It hasn’t been in operation as a Girl Scout camp for over 30 years. The bigger building is an Airbnb for groups. They will also have access to the lake.
DIRECTIONS:
Take Exit for Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) from the 210
Go North, up the mountain for 29 miles
Turn left on Sulpher Springs Rd
Go about a mile and you will see a Singing Pines sign up on a hill on the right side.
There is a white gate which is usually open but if it's closed go ahead and open it.
Go down that driveway about a mile and turn left at the fork.
Follow that road down and around the lake staying to the right. Once you passed the lake there will be a little uphill and the location is on the left.

The Skoolie is a converted short bus with two love seats that convert to an RV queen bed, sink, stove top, dinette, and over head lights. Outside is a private meadow with a short walk to a small lake. You can bring your fishing gear. It's stocked with Bass and Bluegill. Outside the Skoolie is a picnic table, fire pit (firewood $10 a bundle) and a hammock. Up the hill, a very short walk is the private campground toilet facility. This is not shared with anyone else.
No cell phone reception no linens bring a sleeping bag or warm blankets. You can charge your phone in the Skoolie for a sunrise alarm or just to take pictures.

This spot is a true gem. We had such a lovely stay. Waking up listening to the birds, the views were incredible, and we really enjoyed Sky the dogs company, as well as the neighbor horses.
The outdoor shower was amazing and made you feel like you’re in an oasis.
Al was an amazing host, I would come back any day and I highly recommend staying here.

Hi, I just wanted to leave an amazing review because Jessica’s place was unlike anywhere else I’ve stayed. I travel around the US and this has to be one of the most beautiful hipcamps I’ve ever stayed at. She was an amazing host and I love chatting with her and her husband. They seem like amazing people and I would recommend this to anybody. There are bunnies and birds and wildlife everywhere. I love how you can hear the coyotes and the Peacocks. If you want somewhere nature and quiet. This is right up your alley. Every time I’m in California I can’t wait to stay here again. I love the privacy Star Ranch offered! The campground was well equipped. I didn’t know the two cabin was included on the reservation, so that was a bonus that we all loved! The covered common area (kitchen, dining) are awesome. We were so ecstatic about the flushing toilet and hot shower!! Overall, this place is amazing!! If you want privacy and do not want to give up luxury and comfort, this place is for you!! Thank you Osman for hosting us. We will be back for sure!

Perfect spot for our family of four (7mo old and 3 year old). Green Valley Lake was a great area to stay in and the house was very and clean and welcoming. Our daughter loved the games and books and there were many other thoughtful touches. Would recommended and definitely stay here again!

I had a very peaceful night at Star Ranch. After driving from Texas for 11 hours, I was so ready for a good night’s sleep. In the morning I woke to the sound of nearby chickens clucking, and a barred owl hooting off in the distance.
The A-frame was a lot more spacious than I thought it would be, having seen the pictures of it on HipCamp. The campsite would have been perfect for a small group, but I was happy to be there on my own.

Went with our 2 large rescue dogs and they loved it. The place was clean and well equiped. It was cold outside at night but the heater worked great. Instructions on how to reach the parking were detailed and easy to follow. Its a really great spot and so close to LA. If you bring your pets, a set of shoes for your furry friends would be a good idea due to the broken glass that pops up in the sand around the area. Our dogs had shoes so no worries for them. As with any off grid space in the California desert, wildlife is a thing to be aware of. There was a family of large coyotes that passed by one afternoon, so keep any eye on your pets. Would definitely come back to enjoy the spot again.

This is a great little cabin for a family. It has lots of beds and everything you need for a getaway. It’s walking distance from the shops, restaurants, and lake. The owner responds super quickly and is very accommodative.
