Master has a queen bed, while the 2nd bedroom has 4 twin bunk beds. We also have a firepit! Been coming to this magical part of the San bernardino mountains since I was a little girl. I learned to ski here when there was an old ski hill and tow ropes! Lots of mountain trails to hit right out the front door! My Father and Grandfather both spent time here and nothing has changed! It is single story with all open beam ceilings, wood floors throughout and hiking right out the door to miles and miles of trails! Stunning sunsets, a cute town with lots of live music quaint coffee shop. This was originally a Girl Scout camp called Singing Pines back in the 30’s. You’ll see as you roam around some of the original buildings and structures. It hasn’t been in operation as a Girl Scout camp for over 30 years. The bigger building is an Airbnb for groups. They will also have access to the lake.
DIRECTIONS:
Take Exit for Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) from the 210
Go North, up the mountain for 29 miles
Turn left on Sulpher Springs Rd
Go about a mile and you will see a Singing Pines sign up on a hill on the right side.
There is a white gate which is usually open but if it's closed go ahead and open it.
Go down that driveway about a mile and turn left at the fork.
Follow that road down and around the lake staying to the right. Once you passed the lake there will be a little uphill and the location is on the left.

The Skoolie is a converted short bus with two love seats that convert to an RV queen bed, sink, stove top, dinette, and over head lights. Outside is a private meadow with a short walk to a small lake. You can bring your fishing gear. It's stocked with Bass and Bluegill. Outside the Skoolie is a picnic table, fire pit (firewood $10 a bundle) and a hammock. Up the hill, a very short walk is the private campground toilet facility. This is not shared with anyone else.
No cell phone reception no linens bring a sleeping bag or warm blankets. You can charge your phone in the Skoolie for a sunrise alarm or just to take pictures.

Put the well equipped full kitchen to work and make meals for yourself or the whole family. Eat at the bar or seat everyone in the dining space, or the warmer months, outside on the deck surrounded by nature. In the morning, you'll find a stocked coffee station.

This mountain property is surrounded by massive pine trees and within a 15 minute walk to Lake Gregory - a gorgeous mountain lake with a well maintained trail running the entire perimeter and several areas to park if you are transporting gear.
This is a perfect base for Lake and Mountain adventures with numerous trail systems nearby, including the famed PCT as it meanders through sections of the San Bernardino National Forest.
The parking access is off the street if you choose to leave bicycles, snowboards, kayaks etc attached to your car. There is also room to leave large outdoor equipment on property for easier driving around without your outdoor gear.
There is only one Hip-Camp Site on the property - the private pine cottage with a 1/2 bath and off-street parking. Access to the patio with the gas fire-pit, grill and seating area will be yours to enjoy alone.

Hi, I just wanted to leave an amazing review because Jessica’s place was unlike anywhere else I’ve stayed. I travel around the US and this has to be one of the most beautiful hipcamps I’ve ever stayed at. She was an amazing host and I love chatting with her and her husband. They seem like amazing people and I would recommend this to anybody. There are bunnies and birds and wildlife everywhere. I love how you can hear the coyotes and the Peacocks. If you want somewhere nature and quiet. This is right up your alley. Every time I’m in California I can’t wait to stay here again. She’s so sweet and taking a shower outside is unlike any other feeling. It’s one of the most peaceful and best sleeps I’ve ever got.

I love the privacy Star Ranch offered! The campground was well equipped. I didn’t know the two cabin was included on the reservation, so that was a bonus that we all loved! The covered common area (kitchen, dining) are awesome. We were so ecstatic about the flushing toilet and hot shower!! Overall, this place is amazing!! I had a very peaceful night at Star Ranch. After driving from Texas for 11 hours, I was so ready for a good night’s sleep. In the morning I woke to the sound of nearby chickens clucking, and a barred owl hooting off in the distance.
The A-frame was a lot more spacious than I thought it would be, having seen the pictures of it on HipCamp. The campsite would have been perfect for a small group, but I was happy to be there on my own.

Beautifully decorated cabin, super comfy beds and everything was clean. We loved our stay, nature and tranquility all around.

With pets
Went with our 2 large rescue dogs and they loved it. The place was clean and well equiped. It was cold outside at night but the heater worked great. Instructions on how to reach the parking were detailed and easy to follow. Its a really great spot and so close to LA. If you bring your pets, a set of shoes for your furry friends would be a good idea due to the broken glass that pops up in the sand around the area. Our dogs had shoes so no worries for them. As with any off grid space in the California desert, wildlife is a thing to be aware of. There was a family of large coyotes that passed by one afternoon, so keep any eye on your pets. Would definitely come back to enjoy the spot again.

This is a great little cabin for a family. It has lots of beds and everything you need for a getaway. It’s walking distance from the shops, restaurants, and lake. The owner responds super quickly and is very accommodative.

The most serene an incredible stay! It’s so close to everything near by but feels worlds away. So peaceful and the host is incredibly thoughtful and kind. I’d comeback in a heartbeat.

I had a lovely time at Araceli's tiny cabin! It was small but nice with very well thought out amenities. They went out of their way to be a great host which helped me feel comfortable. The cabin was located in a unique area that I would probably not have thought about visiting before, but I was very glad that I did. I would definitely consider staying again if I were to revisit the area!

The A frames with bedding and lighting offer a quiet retreat after being outside and exposed to the desert. This is especially true during the windy month of April. The outdoor flushing toilet sink and shower are private and airy. There is also a partitioned and inviting kitchen/gathering space for cooking and eating at a table. We walked, and walked in every direction from the A frame (since it is tucked away from the road) without having to cross a street or intrude on neighbors. We saw wonderful birds and wildflowers, various Joshua trees and jack-rabbits. We heard coyote in the distance. Devil's Punchbowl is a short drive away...and must be experienced. Lake Los Angeles is a 7 minute drive away and has a Dollar General store...which has everything food, drink, necessities related. Osman created a very welcoming outdoor and indoor space that is well lit and safe and clean and warm and quiet...we loved out stay.
