This was originally a Girl Scout camp called Singing Pines back in the 30’s. You’ll see as you roam around some of the original buildings and structures. It hasn’t been in operation as a Girl Scout camp for over 30 years. The bigger building is an Airbnb for groups. They will also have access to the lake.
DIRECTIONS:
Take Exit for Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) from the 210
Go North, up the mountain for 29 miles
Turn left on Sulpher Springs Rd
Go about a mile and you will see a Singing Pines sign up on a hill on the right side.
There is a white gate which is usually open but if it's closed go ahead and open it.
Go down that driveway about a mile and turn left at the fork.
Follow that road down and around the lake staying to the right. Once you passed the lake there will be a little uphill and the location is on the left.

The Skoolie is a converted short bus with two love seats that convert to an RV queen bed, sink, stove top, dinette, and over head lights. Outside is a private meadow with a short walk to a small lake. You can bring your fishing gear. It's stocked with Bass and Bluegill. Outside the Skoolie is a picnic table, fire pit (firewood $10 a bundle) and a hammock. Up the hill, a very short walk is the private campground toilet facility. This is not shared with anyone else.
No cell phone reception no linens bring a sleeping bag or warm blankets. You can charge your phone in the Skoolie for a sunrise alarm or just to take pictures.

The hike to the Deep Creek Hot Springs is fairly steep and can be difficult for some people, especially in warm weather, so everyone’s physical fitness needs to be considered when deciding to hike to the hot springs with pets, children, elderly people, or out-of-shape/over-weight people in your group. Even though Deep Creek has never had any known cases of amoeba outbreaks, be advised that the warm waters around hot springs can carry a sometimes fatal amoeba.
*Although children are permitted at most sites on the property (children are not permitted at the cabin or spring pool sites), we do not recommend bringing them due to occasional nudity that may be seen in the area and the degree of difficulty for the hike. In order to be prepared with the correct gear to make the hike to the hot springs and know the USFS rules that apply to the area, please educate yourself before coming by visiting the USFS website page for the Deep Creek area. Know before you go!
The Deep Creek Hot Springs Campground is part of the historic Bowen Ranch property that was homesteaded in 1924 and has been the camping and parking area for the Deep Creek Hot Springs for nearly a century. We had such a wonderful time at Jami’s lovely cabin. It is rustic, charming, cozy, and romantic… Everything we were hoping it would be. Jami was a very accommodating and thoughtful host. We loved the vibe of the area. We also loved the sound of the creek, putting us fast to sleep every night. The hot tub under the forest canopy, and the outdoor shower made our experience that much more memorable. Our dogs also loved visiting and exploring the property. We will definitely be back again.

3 nights at SB Mountain Cabin Rentals
This is a nicely decorated cabin that is cozy, yet spacious. It has two large upstairs bedrooms, though one is more of a loft in that it doesn’t have a door to close. Downstairs has the bathroom and basic kitchen and living area, along with a front and rear deck. It’s definitely not flashy or state of the art, but has more of a relaxing analog chill vibe. I really enjoyed staying here!

What a magical little place, and SO close to LA. I had a great weekend getaway with my 8 year old golden retriever. The bus was very charming, we were given water, and Brian even graciously left ice. We had firewood on site which helped not having to try to cram another thing in the car. The location is such a fun historic snapshot of an old summer camp, I did some exploring but wish I had the time to do even more.
I'd absolutely come back! One thing I'd do a little different, depending on the season I'm sure, is there's quite a bit of gnats swarming around. I'll come back with my canopy and have some nets around it to build a little safe zone around the picnic table.
I brought an electric off road bike with me, and I definitely recommend bringing some kind of bike to take the dirt roads for exploring! So much fun.

Weekend Trip to Skoolie in a secluded meadow
This was a 10/10 first HipCamp experience. We have limited options for camping with our 4 dogs: we can’t go to most public campgrounds & my minivan can’t make it to most BLM/ dispersed camping that usually requires a bit of “off roading.”
This was a gorgeous & secluded property and we explored all of it with our dogs. We also hiked up to the PCT access everyday. Will forsure return. Thanks so much.

Weekend Trip to Bowen Ranch Hot Spring Retreat
Highly recommend Jess's tiny cabin! The views are spectacular and the mini pool was so refreshing and relaxing. We were pleasantly surprised by the stocked kitchen supplies and the mini fridge. Jess was super responsive and extremely helpful with any questions we had, and was able to turn on AC and trigger the generator for electricity at night as soon as we needed it, which we really appreciated. We will definitely visit again!

Just as lovely as pictured, pup-friendly, and very peaceful. Decor is true to period, almost like a time capsule. Showed photos to my extended family and we can’t wait to book both of Jami’s cabins for a family getaway! Excellent trout fishing nearby at jenks lake and opportunities in the river by the cabin. We met dianna as we drove in and im glad we did. She was extremely welcoming, kind, and helpful. She gave us a walkthrough of the area and made sure everything was running/functioning properly ahead of time. She left us prepared, reassured and feeling safe. This is a great place to relax, about a 15-20 minute drive to food and stores, plus you get to meet her pup who is the sweetest. We had an amazing stay thank you!
