This open camp tent area is owned by (and was/is built by) the former HGTV host of the show "Tiny House Builders". The site also houses a "wooden tent" or micro glamping pod named "The Little Lantern" (a second listing) that is fun to check out, take pix of, store gear in- the structures serve as windbreaks and shade walls
for tent campers and you can hang out on the benches near them, use their fire pits, and so on. The owner is also the author of several design and budget-build/reuse books (the bestseller "Micro Shelters" and others). Decades back this land was the site of an old RV park, so we've been in the long process of cleaning it up and removing junk from some corners of the site- but a bit still remains (its NOT pristine- still in the works). As a result you'll find some cool, weird, and unusual detritus and salvage out here (but not so much close to the camp spots)- old car parts, industrial knobs and dials- feel free to explore. Camp at your own risk though if you wander off to check this stuff out. The immediate camping area is cleared/clean. This has made it a favorite spot for junk collectors and photographers (we've found everything from old coins, to actual silver, cool rocks/geodes, and vintage car parts). This place would also make for a great spot for video or fashion shoots (which aren't allowed unless you seek separate permission from us!). Its a dirt site, but easy to get into, easy to pull into and turn around in (even with an RV), and you basically have about 5 acres all to yourself in most cases. There is one other camp site on the property (two total- the little lantern, and the van area for tenting- they are separate and spread out).
Note: As I'm not sure of the current hip camp/country standings (new vague rules), I had removed this listing/put it on "hold", but it keeps going live/not adjusting- for that reason I'm just going to keep it live and allow people to book/stay until things are figured out by hip camp (so as not to inconvenience anyone).

Off-leash dogs are welcome. Please clean up after them so this policy can remain in place.
Guests must bring their own water, use a self-contained toilet system (pack out all waste), and pack out all trash. Desert conditions change rapidly — wind, heat, and cold are all possible. Four-wheel drive is recommended, though many standard vehicles and RVs have accessed the property by driving slowly and carefully. If a vehicle becomes stuck, guests are responsible for arranging their own towing.
This is unfenced private land bordering public Bureau of Land Management (BLM) areas. On rare occasions, someone may mistakenly pass through assuming the land is public. This has always been resolved easily by letting them know they are on private property.
Located at the base of Copper Mountain, the property offers wildlife sightings, panoramic views, and generally good cell service despite the remote feel.

At 10,833 feet in elevation, this is the second highest peak in California. There are two ways to get to the summit. You can hike the whole thing or shave off about 6000 vertical feet by riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Either way, the summit is not to be missed.
For a real challenge try the epic Cactus to Clouds trail. It was rated as one of the hardest day hikes in the world by Backpacking Magazine. Its 21 miles take you skyward through sub-alpine forests, mountain meadows, snow-dusted crags, and gnarled granite. An alpine start is required to avoid the midday heat so be prepared and take plenty of water.
Campers have plenty to choose from. The San Jacinto area offers two drive-in campsites, four hike-in primitive campsites, and adventures for every brand of wilderness craving. We are located 10 minutes from The Integratron, 25 minutes from Giant Rock, Joshua Tree National Park, and 40 minutes from Johnson Valley. Halliday's liquor store is 10 minutes, with $5 pizza place (delicious!) / gas station 15 minutes away. There is even a nearby Landers thrift store and La Copine restaurant. Shooting area about 15 minutes away. I can list SO much more, but I'll let you come explore the hidden gems Landers has to offer. There is a firepit set up onsite for your convenience. It is also conveniently located between the towns of Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley, with access to off-road recreation areas such as Johnson Valley OHV.
The land is home to native Joshua trees, cactus, and seasonal wildflowers, with views of rocky foothills to the south and open desert valleys to the north and east. Wildlife sightings may include jackrabbits, quail, hawks, kangaroo rats, snakes, and coyotes.
This is primitive, dry camping with no water, power, or hookups. Guests should bring their own tent and or RV, camping supplies, plenty of water, and a sense of adventure.

This property is best suited for experienced campers, vanlifers, RVs, Airstreams, and tent campers who are comfortable navigating dirt roads and practicing Leave No Trace ethics. It is not suitable for first-time campers or guests seeking amenities or on-site assistance.
Off-leash dogs are welcome. Please clean up after them so this policy can remain in place.
Guests must bring their own water, use a self-contained toilet system (pack out all waste), and pack out all trash. Desert conditions change rapidly — wind, heat, and cold are all possible. Four-wheel drive is recommended, though many standard vehicles and RVs have accessed the property by driving slowly and carefully. If a vehicle becomes stuck, guests are responsible for arranging their own towing.
This is unfenced private land bordering public Bureau of Land Management (BLM) areas. On rare occasions, someone may mistakenly pass through assuming the land is public. This has always been resolved easily by letting them know they are on private property.
Located at the base of Copper Mountain, the property offers wildlife sightings, panoramic views, and generally good cell service despite the remote feel.

At 10,833 feet in elevation, this is the second highest peak in California. There are two ways to get to the summit. You can hike the whole thing or shave off about 6000 vertical feet by riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Either way, the summit is not to be missed.
For a real challenge try the epic Cactus to Clouds trail. It was rated as one of the hardest day hikes in the world by Backpacking Magazine. Its 21 miles take you skyward through sub-alpine forests, mountain meadows, snow-dusted crags, and gnarled granite. An alpine start is required to avoid the midday heat so be prepared and take plenty of water.
Campers have plenty to choose from. The San Jacinto area offers two drive-in campsites, four hike-in primitive campsites, and adventures for every brand of wilderness craving. Beautiful 5 acres of nothing but views. It's named "The Slab" simply because that's what my family has always called it. I am currently testing this as a place for campers, so please leave feedback so it can be improved. Eventually, there will be a picnic table setup for campers, and designated open spots for more vehicles to park/ flat spots for more tents. Shooting area about 15 minutes away. I can list SO much more, but I'll let you come explore the hidden gems Landers has to offer. There is a firepit set up onsite for your convenience. The land is home to native Joshua trees, cactus, and seasonal wildflowers, with views of rocky foothills to the south and open desert valleys to the north and east. Wildlife sightings may include jackrabbits, quail, hawks, kangaroo rats, snakes, and coyotes.

Finding an in expensive place to stay very close to Joshua Tree NP saved our trip when we discovered that we had arrived a day earlier than the beginning of our reservation in the park (easy to lose track of time on a long road trip). So glad I found this spot, as much as I love J-Tree, getting a campsite on the weekend always felt stressful and Airbnb's weren't the nature experience I craved. Competitively priced with the in-park camping spots without the feeling of being crowded in with other campers.
The campsite is in a prime location only ~5 minutes from the Yucca Valley Walmart (a frequent pit stop for me) and not far from the park entrance . Beautiful plot of land out of earshot of neighbors, with nice views of the valley.
Just know what you're signing up for as a primitive camp, the only true minus for me was the low din of road noise from the nearby highway. I think that was balanced out by the lack of potentially noisy neighbors which you can experience in the park.

Rebecca’s land was incredible. The views were unreal, the site felt private, and there was plenty of space. We pulled in with a 30ft RV and had zero issues getting in and out. Rebecca also approved a second vehicle so we could explore without moving the RV, and she sent super detailed, thorough directions and info ahead of time. The outhouse was spotless. We brought cleaning supplies just in case and didn’t need them. Couldn’t recommend this Hipcamp more. 10/10. Thank you, Rebecca.

The land was nicely set up. Tent spot was clean. We booked two nights but didn’t have firewood the second night so we left at 8pm and drove home as it was a bit cold. They provide the firewood but it was not enough for two nights. But we would go back there again and maybe bring extra firewood.

Perfect solitude in the desert. The spot is easy to find and is very nice and quiet. We spent a relaxing evening with a gorgeous sunset and a quiet night. There was a light cloud cover so the stars were visible but not as bright as they would have been. Would definitely consider it again.

Lovely grounds and host! I went for tent camping and Jonesy really makes this space cozy and special. The camping spot is spacious and open, with firepit and table provided, and it was great to have such well-thought out amenities just a walk away. The provided bathroom was convenient, but when a big party arrived it became very busy so having a backup bathroom plan when tent camping is recommended. Overall would definitely return, especially when the sites at Joshua Tree are all booked up!

My wife and I loved our stay at Stardust! Its wonderful if you're looking for a relaxing weekend, and is also quite conveniently located close to Yucca Valley proper. It could also serve as a good home base if you're looking to spend most of your time at Joshua Tree throughout your stay. The property has great outdoor space to enjoy during almost all parts of the day, with shaded and unshaded parts. The home is perfectly sized for two couples.
