The views are beautiful cordonents where precise but an actual address would be better for first timers the roads are rough but not impossible overall it was a fun stay we will be coming back again

This was my first time doing any form of camping and it was such a peaceful experience. I felt super safe and honestly would’ve felt comfortable enough to sleep outside under the stars. The time is absolutely stunning. I can’t wait to stay here again!

we loved The Slab! it’s exactly what it’s advertised as: concrete in the middle of the desert. we set up our tent and watched the stars all night in the nice weather. maybe just be sure to get inside once the sun goes down or else the spiders start to come out, but other than normal desert shenanigans the slab was awesome. will be returning this summer.

If you don’t want the uncertainty of finding free overnight camping, this sites assures an unchallenged, inexpensive, quiet night. As often is the case—combine gps and owner instructions to find the slab. Dangerously windy to use the provided fire pit. Gives a taste of desert living.

As advertised! The SLAB reduced dust and is great to camp on. Easy to find, decent phone signal, lovely night sky and a Joshua tree right at the site. Only issue is we tripped a lot on the big nails sticking out of the slab, I recommend marking them or putting something over them.
Beware the $5 pizza place is closed on Tuesdays and everything closes at 8pm. But gas station next door had bathroom and snacks and water by the gallon.

We had a great stay! Very basic- as stated in the description, but offered a perfect place to have some privacy, enjoy the stars, and recharge after exploring Joshua Tree.
As noted in other reviews, the access road to the site from either direction is on sandy roads with some lengthy stretches with washboards, but still no problem to navigate with our 2W drive Promaster van. It’s not far from any needed amenities, but far enough away that we had the quiet space we desired. There are homes and other campers you can see in the distance, but we never even heard other people or saw a car on the entrance road. The host had great communication, and we enjoyed our time unwinding in the evening in solitude.

Loved the spot for sunrise and sunset. Far enough away but not a far drive to Joshua Tree. Def would stay here again.
Beware the way you head in. The further you get from
Joshua tree proper the worse the roads get. Google took me a gnarly way with 2.5 miles of washboards. Take Birdie and Reche. Still some sand and washboards but not nearly as much as the other route. If you have a fun vehicle then pick whatever route and have fun. But not good for a converted van to be shaking it that bad.

Good little spot to disconnect for a weekend. The slab was much closer to neighbors than I would have anticipated (probably 200 yards away), but it was fine. There was already a large established rock fire pit close to the slab. I suggest walking the perimeter of the slab before you pull on to it. Looks there was a structure at one point and has anchors that are sticking out of the concrete. We marked them with rocks and it was a nonissue after that. If you have little ones just watch out for the boards with nails that are still attached to the slab. With all of that said, we’d definitely come back.

Such a beautiful spot in the desert to wake up to! The sunsets were stunning and the view of the night sky is unmatched. It’s also relatively isolated but not completely cut off from people, so we felt safe. Would definitely recommend, but be careful of the wind! It can knock over your tent if you don’t weigh it down enough. We can’t wait to come back next time we’re at Joshua Tree.

It is remote enough. It is right off the dirt road. Spacious. Plenty of room to explore! Directions were pretty good! It has gorgeous sunrise and sunset. Perfect hybrid of town and remote. It is remote but houses around at a distance. So basically isolated enough but still a sense of security. I think only 3 cars passed by each day. There was a campfire pit and the cement slab had lots of space. I also noticed like an OHV road that was a pleasant surprise for me! It is a desert so it is hot so come prepared. Cold nights during winter. I also had 1 bar of at&t.
If there are cons, it is also that there are houses around. They are far enough for privacy but the dogs bark at a distance nearly all night. There’s lots of dogs. However, if you are used to camping out there where there’s plenty of nature noises like loud crickets and coyotes, then this is a nonissue and nothing earplugs won’t solve.
The first night I was there, someone was blasting music at a distance. Not sure what happened but they stopped at around 9pm. So all good.
There is a flight path that is far enough so you can’t hear them but if you are into astrophotography, this will be problematic. There are also houses and distant town light pollution for astro. Still plenty of starts for naked eye star gazing!

We set up on the slab, nice and flat for a tent! Fairly easy to get to, just follow the host’s directions rather than google maps.

I loved car camping on Sherry's land! It is pretty no frills, but that is exactly what I was looking/hoping for. There are some structures on nearby land, but it felt private enough to escape the noise of daily living. I also encountered a coyote trotting through camp, but it looked at me and continued on its way minding its own business -- that was a fun highlight of the stay for me. Sherry is a wonderful host and I absolutely plan on coming back and maybe bringing a friend or two next time. Thank you Sherry! :)

Great primitive camping spot. Road in is manageable for most vehicles, you do not need 4x4. We had a nice stay. You are situated close to BLM land and there is off-road traffic. Neighbors are far enough away. Besides some vehicle noise it was nice.

I came here for dark skies during a meteor shower. I didn't want to pay the park pass for Joshua Tree and I didn't want other campers disrupting my solitude. This campsite was excellent for that, as well as having a fire pit for building a fire (and making s'mores!). I definitely suggest coming in from Border Rd. I would come here again.

Affordable! On a quiet slice of the desert. Some ATVs over the weekend, but not a big disturbance. Some homes nearby, but not so close as to impede on privacy. Nice big firepit for use. Felt safe there.

Had a great time there, easy to find. There is a bit of a dirt path you have to drive through to get to, but a sedan without AWD can easily make the journey, just drive slower. The Slab was clean and wide open, good for tents as there weren't any rocks poking into the bottom of our tents.
