Our 220 remote acres are adjacent to Shasta Trinity National Forest in the beautiful Cascade Range between Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta in Northern California. It's a working ranch with tree farms, animals, hydroelectric power, sawmill, gardens, orchards, creeks, springs, trails, and our camp alongside Kosk Creek. We're 54 miles from Redding off of 299E, (about 1-1/2 hour drive). DO NOT TAKE ROAD 11 FROM THE NORTH, IT IS CLOSED! PIease try to ignore the "car art" in the Pit River Tribe's Rancheria as you're coming here. Drive right through it, it's no reflection on us. The last mile or so of the road here can be pretty rough, but on arrival, you'll know it's worth the trip! No Cell phone service available here, so it's the perfect opportunity to unplug. We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.

FIRE BAN IS IN EFFECT ALL YEAR ROUND. This includes NO USE of camp stoves, jet boils, bbq grills unless inside your van or trailer. Please plan on picnic foods. Thank you. This is a high desert terrain highly volatile and afternoon breezes can come up in the summer. There are 3 RV and/or camping sites available for campers to book. Please note that there are no RV hookups for any of the sites. You will be parking on loose gravel and the sites are relatively flat. We can accommodate most RVs/trailers, if you are uncertain about the size just send me a message. There is a portapotty in the hay barn cleaned regularly and a water spigot for non-potable water uses. There is no shower available but you could wash off hands and feet if desired with the hose. Pets are allowed at campsites #2 and #3 only. These campsites are farthest from the horses and dogs. Please keep dogs on leash at all times. The property offers a beautiful view of Mount Shasta. Nature lovers, extreme sports enthusiasts, family vacationers and retirees, can all enjoy the vast recreational opportunities this area has to offer. Lake Siskiyou is about 20 miles south and offers a wonderful 7-mile hiking trail around the entire lake.

There is a lot more than just rivers to check out here. More than a million rambling acres of forest take you through foggy and mystical redwood landscapes. Further inland, miles of towering Douglas firs, glacial peaks, and hidden pools just wait to be discovered. Of course, the rivers are the main attraction. You can’t go two feet without tripping over a perfect swimming hole. Shasta View Campsites are part of a former 30,000 acre ranch that was split up into smaller parcels in the 1970's. It is comprised of 5 to 500 acre parcels. All these parcels are homesteads. There are no commercial or industrial areas on the Ranch. In 2005, I started looking for land in the Shasta area after falling in love with the Mountain and it's surrounding lakes. I have always known exactly what the land I would spend time on would look like. One day, in 2006, I was driving on the Hammond Ranch, again hoping I would find that place. I was driving my van, with my 2 kids and some of our friends, through a heavily wooded area. I made a left turn down a dusty dirt road and Eureka! I had found IT. I was at the top of a 60 acre meadow that had a full unobstructed view of Mt. Shasta, encircled by lenticular clouds. I told a friend of mine, who was at the time a realtor in the Shasta area, that I had found a piece of land that looks perfect to me. If, that is, it also had a creek on it. She did some searching around and found out that the land that is now Shasta View was in fact for sale. And, it had a creek on it. And it was comprised of some acreage in the meadow and some in the trees. This was everything I had wanted. I bought the land within the next 2 weeks. After camping on the land a few times, I started to understand where the best sites would be to build some structures. Because the meadow always has a certain amount of moisture to the ground, it is not suitable for building a structure. The good thing about that, is that nobody who owns land in that meadow will ever build there. We will only be looking at Mt. Shasta from that meadow. Never a building. The platform I built in the meadow offers on a chance to sleep under the stars. Billions of them. My property is only one of two that have old, large Cedar and Pine trees on it. It made perfect sense that I would be building a small house in those trees. While camping on this land, you will find exquisite beauty and solitude. Within 30 minutes, you will find Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake for some of the finest swimming around. If you fish, the McCloud and the Sacramento rivers offer some of the best trout fishing in the state. There are two “Blue Ribbon” designated streams. The first is Upper Sacramento River. It starts as a trickle from the melting snows of Mt Shasta and by the time it reaches the area around the town of Dunsmuir which is just south of Shasta City, it is a true “Blue Ribbon” designated trout stream. The place to find all the ins and outs of fly fishing in this area is at the Ted Fay Fly Fishing shop in Dunsmuir. The second “Blue Ribbon” trout fishing is on the McCloud River. Historically some of the best trout fishing to be found. I have fished both these streams and always caught fish. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING IF YOU'LL BE SLEEPING IN THE TREEHOUSE. And need I say anything about hiking on Mt. Shasta?

Our stay was more than I had hoped for and just what both of us needed!! Went with my 10 yr old grandson-just the 2 of us-with no sports schedules, play dates or other obligations to juggle so we were FREE. Had never been to that part of CA, so the view of Mt Shasta appearing before us as we approached was as an apparition with great hope. Magnificent and to have a personal view at our place felt so indulgent. Other reviewers had mentioned some difficulty getting there but Google Maps showed every road, and going the reduced speed requested, it was possible to follow easily. The kitchen area is so fab to cook in (bigger than my own home!), powerful cooking stove and I loved the dishwashing setup. Once we got it all figured out, we had fabulous meals! Took sling back beach chairs to put on the meadow platform to see the mountain at sunset and even saw shooting stars 2 different evenings! The treehouse was clean, comfortable and sufficient, opening the screened windows allowed the sound of the gurgling stream to sing to us all night. In fact the stream was the highlight for me. The most beautiful picture I took was when my grandson wanted to paint a picture and I set him up alongside the stream to paint the treehouse. He was across the small bridge sitting in the grasses and creating his memory. This is not an REI curated space, but a personalized natural world where you can disconnect, wander pathways and be renewed in an artists’ canvas. It was wonderful.

Really great spot and an excellent host. The creek is quite deep and the perfect temperature for cooling off on a hot day. Billy was amazing. She did a grocery run for us in the morning if we needed anything. She supplies the wood for your fire and honestly takes care of anything you might need. Had a great time and will definitely be back soon. Great proximity to the nearby lakes and lots of opportunity for hiking as well. Thank you so much Billy!

Weekend Trip to Happy Valley Roadhouse

Karen's farm was perfect for us. We just needed a last-minute place to stop and camp overnight in our camper van when we were driving south on I-5 near Redding, California. Even though we got there at dusk, Karen met us and said hello to us and made sure we had everything we needed. The meadow that we camped on was nice and flat and it was definitely far enough away from Highway 5 to not hear any traffic sounds. The neighbors were generally quiet so we slept well. We didn't linger because we needed to keep on driving the next morning but we really appreciated the stay.

5 nights at Shasta Gardens

I loved staying at Shasta Gardens. I stay there for six days. I did a retreat at Mount Shasta. It was an amazing time. It was an amazing space to be able to sleep recharge. Ali was a great host not only did he host me he did energy work on me. He drove me to a music festival that was at the mountain..it was a life altering trip. It was a life altering place to stay ..super safe Super serene. it’s in walking distance to everything grocery stores, coffee shops.. There’s even a dispensary 10 steps away. That’s definitely not the Selling Point. It’s just the cherry on top if you like that kind of cherry. 5 stars 🫶🏼☯️⚛️🫶🏼

Great place, location is fantastic. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. Clean restrooms and showers. Close to the creek for swimming and fishing and across the highway from Trailhead pizza a must visit.

This was such a unique experience! The hot springs in the creek were just as advertised. There were maybe a dozen other parties in the campground, but sites were spread out enough for us to enjoy our own space not interfere with each other. Our site by the creek had a personal trail to the creek, we sat in the water all day and couldn't even hear the other campers. We will definitely go back again, will try to bring kids next time as they would have loved it!

Scott was incredibly friendly and very helpful with the directions and the details of the springs. This was without doubt the best hot springs that I have ever been to and I have been to multiple springs over my lifetime! Can’t wait to come back!!

Second time staying at this location and we had a blast. The campsite we stayed at offers privacy and the running water is a good pasttime for the kids. Im sure we will be back at some point.

We only planned to stay here for one night while passing through on our road trip, but we immediately wished we had booked a longer stay. The vibes were absolutely immaculate. The hosts were incredibly kind even making us fresh pizza! 🍕 Our campsite was right next to the creek, and falling asleep to the sound of the flowing water was one of the most peaceful parts of the trip. The campground felt safe and surrounded by beautiful scenery. It’s the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. 🌲

We rolled up late to be greeted by Scott who just happened to be passing by to let us know it was pizza night and I knew I was gonna like this place already! The site was beautiful and you could hear the stream all night. Woke up in the morning to see cows and a horse in the field. Definitely would recommend!
