Weekend Trip to Timber Cove Campground

Amazing Experience at Timber Cove Hipcamp. The Up Top site is very private and has epic views. You can walk to a small private beach, great for fishing, kayaking and SUP on calm days. Easy 5 minute walk to timber cove resort for breakfast, lunch and dinner plus a full bar. Fort Ross store 5 minutes down the road has everything you need with deli options. Ideal getaway close to the Bay area. Thanks Katarina for being a great host.

Weekend Trip to Foxfern Forest

This has to be, bar none, one of the most magical places imaginable. Gorgeous hand-crafted cabin in the midst of the redwoods. We were blown away; never experienced anything like this before. An eleven out of ten!

We had such a wonderful stay at Bluff 10! The site was peaceful and perfectly set up for a relaxing getaway. We loved listening to the waves, sitting on the deck watching the sunset, and playing at the beach access. The bathroom facilities are located directly behind the Bluff 10 campsite. While there was occasional foot traffic, other campers were very respectful and noise was minimal. Just be prepared for the bright light that turns on when someone enters the women’s restroom at night. We also had a couple of nighttime visits from a very bold (but manageable) raccoon—just be mindful to secure your food, trash, and recycling! Brenda, the host, was helpful and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a few nights of ocean therapy. We will definitely be visits again in the future.

Truly the best campsite ever! To be so close to the ocean was unbelievable. Small site but totally worked for us. So happy the landowners share their wonderful property with all of us. We will definitely be back!! Only disappointment was the portable toilet. It was dirty and needed to be emptied.

We had a great 2 night here. Brenda was inviting and helpful. The showers were hot, just what we needed after biking all day. Spots are small but manageable. The walk down to the beach was easy and the views outside the tent were the best. The sound of the ocean made for the best nap. Even though close to the road you did not hear much.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Sunshine Cabin at the Baby Banana Slug Farm. The five-acre wooded property is off the beaten path and provides a nice landing pad to explore the Mendocino coast. The description and photos are accurate. Nate is a very friendly and helpful host. Our dog was able to wander around off leash and she loved it. The cabin was comfortable, communal kitchen was well equipped, and the bath house was just fine. It was an outdoorsy but very comfortable experience.

This was the perfect Mendocino-area landing pad for our family - clean, comfortable, and quiet. The land was fun for some light exploration, and lovely for just gazing at the trees. Nathan was quick to communicate and friendly. Really just a nice experience all around!

Weekend Trip to Lightworks ranch

Was a great spot! Shady Oaks is true to the name and offered a great spot for a late June camp. The creek is not even a 3 min walk away which we then hiked a couple miles down with our dog. The area is very clean and a hose for water is nearby. Very peaceful and the stars at night are great due to close to zero light pollution. Absolutely recommend!

Beautiful camping spot amongst the backdrop of the redwoods. Nathan provided us with ample firewood and was a friendly host. The campground was perfect for our dog and the sink is very helpful for cleaning after meals by the fire. I highly recommend and will be returning some time in the future.

This property was beautiful and this site was so great. There were banana slugs everywhere, there is a nice platform and tons of space. The bathroom is close, and designated to the one campsite so there is no need to share. It’s a little low to the ground and it was hard on my knees but we made it work. The only thing I really didn’t like was that some guy with a tractor on the neighboring property was up at 8am making a bunch of noise. It wasn’t super loud but I’m a terribly light sleeper and he started early. Nathan, the owner, was kind. He came by on day two and dropped off some more firewood. This place was great. Centrally located, only 40 mins from Fort Bragg and only 10 mins from Navarro beach. In short, this site was wonderful and I will definitely be back. I would definitely recommend.

Weekend Trip to EL EL Cool Ranch

We had a great relaxing weekend, it was super hot but that didn't change anything with what this place offers. It was very peaceful, great night sky, loved the dog and the chickens. Nice trail on the property. Host Elias is kind and nice person, we had a great conversation and really appreciated his hospitality. We also took a day trip out to Mendocino. Overall great place to disconnect, and enjoy the peaceful nature.

Brenda is awesome! Spots are a little tight, but the scenery is unlike any other spot you’ll find. Absolutely stunning views. Bathrooms and showers were very clean and accessible. Always felt safe and secure.

Great spot! Loved getting into the river and hanging around the property. Some good platforms for sleeping on. One note; the yurt by the river has seen better days and we opted not to sleep in it. Otherwise, a beautiful and tranquil spot in a perfect location.

The nature of the property was breathtaking. The cabin was very charming and had all the features we needed. Loved staying on the top loft. It was great having a fire pit and plenty of space for tent camping outside, which my brother wanted to do. Cas was very responsive and hospitable. There is just everything you need to make this camping experience exactly what you want it to be.

Timber Cove Campground

Located right off coastal US highway 1, Timber Cove campground sits right at the edge of breathtaking, oceanside cliffs. We are situated on roughly two acres of land, with multiple campsites for tent/car camping or RV’s. Each bluff campsite has a picnic table, fire pit and water. Electricity is available to use for an extra fee. The beach and waterfall campsites do not have picnic tables so you might want to bring one if you’ve booked there. We have separate men’s and women’s flush bathrooms, with coin-operated hot showers. We have firewood with kindling for sale on site, payable with cash or Venmo. Please take note of local fire bans, when in effect. Dog friendly, though be advised a leash is recommended as we are close to the road, but they can run leash-free down at the beach. We are located 30 minutes north of the town of Jenner, with Gualala 30 minutes to the north. Gualala has grocery stores, a post office, and some shops. Fort Ross Store is located one mile down the road, just before Timber Cove, and sells basic food necessities, drinks, sandwiches, ice and gas. Internet cell service can be spotty in our area, depending on your provider, so bring your own Starlink services if you have them. We also have access to the beach below, and offer beach camping as well. Take note that the road down to the beach is steep with uneven terrain. The weather can vary quickly here, so be sure to bring multiple layers of clothing and camp gear for various types of weather, and headlamps are useful for getting around the property at night! We hope you’ll come visit our little slice of heaven on the ocean cliffs, gaze at the stars, marvel at the sunsets, watch the harbor seals dozing on their rocks and the many bird species that inhabit our property. The amount and variety of wildlife is astonishing, with bear, deer, turkeys, fox, coyote, bobcat, Eagles, River otter, salmon and steelhead, with a wide variety of songbirds during migration. Easy access from road, close to town, tall oak trees, privacy, creek with salmon within a five minute walk, mountains, wildlife, barn owl nest box. Please note that during late summer, creek does not flow on surface but always has swimming holes where the salmon and steelhead wait for Fall rains to carry them down to the Eel river and eventually to the ocean, until they return as adults to spawn again. Guests love staying here: "Elderberry camp was really great! It was a large site, plenty of space, shade, and parking. Very peaceful and good distance between other sites although we were pretty much the only campers out there. Outhouse was clean and there was drinking water. We spent most of our Saturday in Eel River which was great. The water was perfect for swimming and fishing, our husbands caught some big ones.
