Drive along the Pacific Ocean or snag a beachfront campsite with an RV adventure in Oceanside.
Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Oceanside is an aptly named waterfront city offering palm-dotted beaches, a marina, and ocean sports. Campers can drive the RV or campervan just 15 minutes south to lively LEGOLAND or an hour south to San Diego, but most head inland to take in forest and mountain views from Palomar Mountain. Southern California’s warm weather makes Oceanside a year-round RV camping destination, with winter being particularly popular among RV campers escaping colder regions. Hipcampers can find RV parks in the forest and along the mountain, or try a unique experience with an RV campsite at a working ranch or a hidden gem seaside campsite with views over the Pacific. Partial hookups, picnic tables, and on-site restrooms are common in the area, and a public dump station is available near the boat ramps on the south side of the harbor. Many inland campsites are a quick drive from the beach, where campers can enjoy swimming, surfing, boating, or a cruise along the coastal highway near Del Mar Beach and Marina.
