Great place for a beginners backpacking trip. We stayed at campsite #6. It was very secluded and quiet. You can walk from the coast camp sites on a short trail to the beach. Huge Beach with beautiful sand and not too many people around.

Weekend Trip to Wackalulu's Wonderland

We had a wonderful weekend staying at the Boathouse at Wackalulu’s Wonderland! We spent our first afternoon/evening at the campfire on the creek. Then spent the next day exploring the river, wineries, and restaurants. It was the best of all worlds. We will definitely be back. Thanks Lynda and Rich for creating such a lovely space!

Such a special spot! A perfect grassy meadow tucked away on a farm next to the ocean. Nice cool breeze when we were there. Just down the street from small family owned grocery, restaurant, bar, hardware store and beach. Daughter and I surfed and hit the hot tub and shower afterwards. Beautiful area…dreamy. You just may be inspired to start a farm yourself after visiting. Flushing toilets decently good. Shower, powered by propane a little wonky but it works. You can make it super cold too if you’re into that. Overall pleasant stay and will definitely be back. If you’re lucky you’ll get to see the sheep, llama and ‘78 Westy

Awesome place and beautiful setting, which was made perfect by our host Lynda! From the moment of arrival to the moment of departure Lynda was always available and very helpful for any questions and assistance. The detail and fun that went in to this site is truly unique, fun, and peaceful. Lots of areas to relax alone or gather together. The creekside setting was gorgeous. The cabin was fully stocked and well set for anything you might need. We plan on coming back!

Joelle's Compound: With limited parking and accommodations, it felt very private on the property. Each camp is quite separate from the next and ours, the one with the tire swing, had a sweet canopy of trees and an awesome look out on the river. We loved that there was a table and a canopy available for us as well as wood! Returning ASAP! Super dog friendly and right up the river from Steelhead beach.

What a lovely stay. The property is quiet and beautiful, the amenities are ample, and our hosts were lovely. Tent sites are adjacent, so you will get to know your neighbors if you have any. When were were there in early June, there were generally 1-2 other parties present. It was so fun to see the sheep, chickens and even llama, and even better to have a fully stocked camp kitchen and running hot water. Highly recommend!

We loved the charming campsite within walking distance of Bolinas. The sites are somewhat close together however the extra amenities (hot tub, shower, outdoor kitchen, etc) more than compensate. It’s the perfect spot to hang out or explore everything Marin has to offer.

2 nights at Estero San Antonio Wonderland

I loved spending two nights in the Blue Heron. It's such a cozy space that was perfect for a solo getaway. I enjoyed waking up surrounded by trees and bird song while having all the creature comforts of a comfy bed, a nice little kitchen for cooking, and lovely farm fresh eggs. Also, it's close to some of Marin and Sonoma counties most beautiful beaches and forests. Highly recommend!

Loved our experience and will definitely return! Beautiful farm with sheep and chickens (and fresh eggs of course!) and the amenities (sinks, shower, etc.) made it so easy and relaxing.

We had such an amazing, peaceful, and memorable time here. It was the first time my girls went camping and they are hooked. It’s exactly what I wanted them to experience. Not a lot of people and just pure nature. The duck eggs were a nice addition and we were so close to Bodega Bay. We will definitely be back again and again!

Beautiful spot to spend the night. Hosts were very easy to communicate with and were very nice. About 5 minutes from downtown Healdsburg which was great!

Beautiful meadow camping spot! This is the perfect place if you enjoy having lots of comforts …but not packing them yourself. Well stocked shared outdoor kitchen and sheltered eating area, showers, fire pit and a heavenly hot tub. I loved camping on Sirima’s land! The instructions to get there were super clear, and there was a charming outdoor bathroom, little kitchen with portable gas stoves and cooking utensils, and shared fire pit. The farm animals were so sweet, and the mornings brought beautiful views of mist rising over the water and nearby mountains. I strongly recommend camping here, it was such a wonderful stay!

My visit to Patty's goat farm was a delightful experience! Patty welcomed us warmly, instantly making us feel at home. We enjoyed a lovely chat with her in the morning, where she shared fascinating insights into her farm activities over the years. The goats were absolutely charming, and the beautiful surrounding nature enhanced the experience. Next time, we’re definitely looking forward to trying her cheese tasting tour, which I hear is fantastic! We also explored the quaint town of Bodega, which was a pleasure in itself. On Patty’s recommendation, we visited a pop-up dinner at the Casino bar, and it was excellent—a perfect end to our day. To top it off, we bought some delicious goat cheese made right on the farm at the local market. Overall, I highly recommend this goat farm for anyone looking for a charming getaway filled with friendly hospitality, delightful animals, and tasty local food!

We had a great time! The kids loved exploring the property and utilizing all the little sitting areas and hammocks and swings. We really appreciated the awning, table and bench. Joelle was very responsive and friendly. Being able to walk to Steelhead beach and not pay for parking was an unexpected pro also, not to mention the lot filled up due to the busy weekend. The spot was beautiful, really appreciated the redwoods and the shade they provided throughout the day. As we knew before showing up, there was road noise off River road but it didn't bother us at all. The toilet situation was the only minor sore spot, I think for a few people it would be fine, but with multiple groups of many people another port-o-potty would come in handy. The river access was a bit of a sloping trail so not great for kids, but I saw the adults in other groups both utilizing it.

Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! A portion of your fee goes towards protecting native flora and fauna as part of our private wildlife preservation program. A limited number of private, widely spaced camp spots are available for visitors. The Eagles' Nest Treehouse (mentioned above) is very isolated and you may or may not even be aware that there are other people within miles of you. For those who value nature, seclusion, quiet and the artistry of old growth redwood, this is the place for you.

The family farm and residence were established during the late 1970s on the site of the historic Peter’s Dairy Ranch. The original farmhouse dates back to the late 19th century and survived the great 1906 earthquake. Today, the 7-acre farm is being restored to sustainably support fruit orchards, cottage flower and kitchen gardens, honey bees, a boisterous flock of chickens, and naughty shetland sheep. Our self-serve farmstand attached to our barn has seasonal flowers, organic eggs, heirloom fruit, and local goods from the farm. Our property is the perfect rustic getaway for backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts. You’ll be surrounded by farm/ranch life: chickens clucking, roosters crowing, bees buzzing, and sheep bleating. We also have active nighttime wildlife: coyotes howling, raccoons foraging, owls hooting, etc. Bring earplugs if nature sounds are too much for you. We offer 4 walk-in tent sites that allow you to immerse yourself in nature. We welcome well-behaved pets ON LEASH that won’t harass the chickens, cats, sheep, other campers, or residents. Unruly pets and their campers will be asked to leave. No refund. Limit: 1 dog per site. Pitch your tent in a meadow shared by: Campsite 1 - left side of the meadow, closest to the common area and hot tub. Campsite 2 - middle of the meadow, closest to our fenced apiary and bee garden. Campsite 3 - right side of the meadow, near the orchard. (sites 1 and 3 are next to each other) Campsite 4 - front of the pasture, closest to the parking area (best for car/van campers wanting space to lounge near their parked vehicle.) Multiple sites may be booked for group camping. Sites 1 and 3 are next to each other under the Cypress Trees. Add site 2 if you would like the entire back half of the campground. Add site 4 if you'd like to have a maximum number of 16 total campers and 2 tents/per site. The common area has an outdoor shower, hot tub, covered bbq/cook area, tented (weather-protected) hangout space, and a place to stash your surfboard. The pizza oven is not available for campground use. Redwood Grove hangout areas have seating and tree swings. Please pack out your trash. We offer a recycling bin for glass bottles, cans, and clean paper. Parking is 100 yds or less from the campsites. We have a large wheelbarrow to help you cart your camping gear across the pasture to your campsite. No driving onto or parking in the meadow. Due to the narrow driveway and parking area (lack of turnaround), the site cannot accommodate RVs, trailers, or oversize vehicles beyond 16ft in length, 7ft in width, or 10 ft in height. 1 car per campsite, please. 15-minute walk to the beach and downtown.

All campsite are located overlooking the Estero and close to the grass road to enter and exit the property. You will have access to some of our pastures for picnics and leisurely walks. When you check in we will give you directions to a few special places around the surrounding area and see if you would like some grassland finished beef, lamb, pork, eggs, or vegetables all grown or made on our ranch. We offer other care packages, ask us when you arrive (include, home made focaccia, sourdough bread, local cheeses, etc...) A liability waiver will be needed to be signed. This is primitive camping, There is water but it is not potable. so bring your own drinking water. It can get very windy out here in Spring and Summer. Come prepared. We have situated the campsites to be on the leeward side and as protected as possible. We try to leave the land better off than we found it and hope that you will share the same respect for the pristine beauty of this place. We are 10 minutes away from the quaint town of Tomale and 15 minutes from the town of Valley Ford. Dillon Beach is only 3.5 miles away. We have Tennis, Pickle Ball, and Basketball Courts around the corner. The Russian River/ Monte Rio public beach is a short walk past the Parks and Recreation Center, and they rent Kayaks and Canoes during the summer months. The Redwood Alliance camp is just a few miles up Bohemian Hwy if you dare to zip line through the redwood canopy forest or Armstrong woods in Guerneville for those that would rather keep their feet on the ground and take a hike to enjoy the majestic beauties. Duncan's Mill is a quaint town (less than 3 miles from us) on your way to Jenner by the Sea which is just about 9 miles to the west of us. You can take a gorgeous coastal drive to Bodega that is only 15 miles away. Historic Fort Ross is another beautiful 20 mile coastal drive. Bike Enthusiast love the back roads out here and the Biggest Attraction Is… Wait for it…. Wineries are everywhere! During the summer there are several Music Venues close by too. The Rio Nido Roadhouse has outdoor music on the weekends. Rockin the River is every other Thursday in Guerneville. The Monte Rio Variety Show just celebrated it 111th year to a sold-out crowd. Zac Brown, Steve Miller, Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor are just a few Headliners that have been here in the past.We have a great Lightwave coffee shop across the creek that is a quick 5 minute walk. There are several restaurants along the river as well as a small grocery store, movie theater, and a Homemade Ice Cream Parlor that are all close enough to walk to or drive.
