Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

It's space to find your peace of mind and pitch a tent or hammock, as you would when hiking the backcountry. If you are a person who appreciates nature and making due with what the land has provided, then we are a great fit. Guests have 20 acres to find a secluded, or socially distanced spot to pitch camp. This is for people that know how to camp in the backcountry - Without a trash can, who don’t leave cigarette butts, respect the land and would rather not be sectioned off. Flat areas are all over if you explore, and use your feet to brush aside rocks and twigs, to lay down a tent base, as we do every time we camp in the backcountry. The geography of these mountains is just that, hills and mountains. The vista at the top of the property is gorgeous and easily camps 5 tents spaced out. The property does offer many other great camping areas, and I’m more than happy to point them out. Yosemite is 30 minutes away, Don Pedro lake is 30 minutes, Cherry Lake is 30 minutes, Preston falls and Carlon falls are both 30 min away. Downtown Groveland Is 7 minutes away, and other historic towns are not too far. Close to many swimming holes. Rainbow pools is 15 minutes away. 10 min from the local grocery store and other local shops. Base Camp is just off of highway 120. Great space! Spot #1 has the greatest view of the sunset! We had the opportunity to see lots of wildlife which was incredible! This spot also had a sweet fire pit and about 3 tables which definitely came in handy!

We loved camping at BaseCampByBo! The location and scenery was insane and we got to meet Bo himself! It was easy to find and Jarrett was incredibly helpful. The campsite feels isolated and gives the wild camping feel whilst being not crazy far from civilization. 30 minutes from some amazing hikes in Yosemite.

Weekend Trip to San Pedro Ranch

We thoroughly enjoyed camping at the riverbank site. It was a delightful experience to use the canoe. Exel, a friendly and attentive host, ensured our comfort during our stay. While the potable water is a bit of a walk (about 5 minutes), the restroom is conveniently located just two minutes away. As long as you’re comfortable with this slight inconvenience, this is an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in a beautiful natural setting.

Weekend Trip to Wondernut Farm

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Wilderness Bridge for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The farm is peaceful and beautifully maintained, offering a relaxing environment throughout our stay. Matt and the people living on the farm were warm and welcoming, and their hospitality made us feel at home. We especially enjoyed the friendly dogs on the property and the stunning views that surrounded us. The Wilderness Bridge itself is about a 10-minute hike, and the view at the top is truly remarkable and well worth the effort. Overall, this was a memorable stay, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet and scenic retreat.

2 nights at Yosemite Southgate Campground *OYBC

Beautiful private campsite with a cooking bench and seating bench available. The only downside is the picnic bench was missing a screw and definitely needs a good sanding (I was pulling splinters out of my clothes almost every-time I sat down) Pretty big ground fire pit available with a cooking rack. Not too far from hikes outside and inside Yosemite - definitely faster coming back from the park than to it tho (almost an hour difference.) The town of Oakhurst is nearby with plenty of stores if you’re missing anything! Yellowjackets were present but the trips present were working. We were on our own the first night and had neighbors the second. For the most part plenty of privacy between sites! BRING WATER AND FIRE WOOD! Portably toilets available at the bottom of the camping site for guests and they were clean. No light pollution so you can easily see the stars at night.

Pretty cool little campground among the oak trees. Well maintained, beautiful foothills ranch vibe, just a few minutes from Groveland. We had a small tent on a platform with two sturdy cots. Like the outdoor showers, but never figured out how to turn on the hot water.

We stayed here with our 2 kids and really enjoyed our time. The kids played and we enjoyed a sunset as we made dinner. Site 1 was pretty spacious and felt pretty private. Location wise it was a good spot to restock on food in town and close to Yosemite. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

Jeremy was a great host! Clear communication. Easy directions. The fresh chicken eggs were a nice touch! The family enjoyed hanging out at the water and kayaking. The drive down can be a bit steep and tight in certain areas, but our group had no issues. Plenty of space to accommodate the whole group.

Very spacious! Could easily fit multiple tents here, as long as you don’t mind uneven ground. Also the fire pit is perfectly positioned to sit around and watch the sunset behind the hills across the way.

Owner was great. Property is fantastic. After the crowds at Yosemite it's nice to be out in the middle of nowhere relaxing. And still only 30 minutes to the park. Setting was beautiful. Rolling hills and campsites in an Oak grove. Even if the place was packed full, you wouldn't be right on top of your neighbor. Rustic charm to the maximum. The cots in our tent were more comfortable than the cheapest motel in towns nearby, and I'm 6'5", 330lbs. Fantastic place.

We so enjoyed the painted tent, a spacious and private site. Plenty of shade trees. The hosts were a pleasure to chat with and make you feel welcome. The road in is steep but well graded and was no problem for our VW van. The lake is beautiful and cool. The shoreline is rocky, have good water shoes. The animals are welcoming and the eggs appreciated.

Thank you so much to Jarrett for sharing his land with us. It’s beautiful, private, and well maintained. We had a rough time getting to our reservation due to some car trouble and Jarrett was very understanding and flexible with us. After an unplanned night camping elsewhere, with inconsiderate neighbors, Jarrett’s spot was a sanctuary. We slept soundly under the stars at the top of a hill with a view of endless trees. The porta potty is one of the cleanest I’ve used and the outdoor shower was absolutely refreshing and hot. The location is perfect, nearby watering holes and close to Yosemite, that we did a day of each. We loved having our dog off leash with us and meeting the camp host Bo. Overall, it was a great spot and we will be back.

2 nights at Wondernut Farm

We loved our stay at Matt and Eve’s farm. We stayed there 3 nights so we could go to Yosemite. So much quieter than the Valley. We took the YART into Yosemite each day leaving Groveland. No park reservations needed! The buses were empty. Our final morning we hung out at the farm and learned so much about raising sheep and homesteading from Matt and Eve.
