Holcomb Valley Ranch invites you to kick back and relax on our private, 400+ acre ranch in the San Bernardino Mountains. Centered around a 100+ acre meadow, filled with horses in summer months and surrounded by thousands of acres of mountainous National Forest.
Just 15 minutes from Big Bear Lake - a large recreational, fresh-water lake for summer swimming, boating, skiing, fishing and other super fun water activities.
The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails.
Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s).
The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents.
From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails.
After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow.
The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance.

Please note:
OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes.
Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Please do not approach, interact, feed or touch the horses. This is for your safety and the safety of the horses. Do, however, take lots of photos! They make a perfect backdrop:)

At 10,833 feet in elevation, this is the second highest peak in California. There are two ways to get to the summit. You can hike the whole thing or shave off about 6000 vertical feet by riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Either way, the summit is not to be missed.
For a real challenge try the epic Cactus to Clouds trail. It was rated as one of the hardest day hikes in the world by Backpacking Magazine. Its 21 miles take you skyward through sub-alpine forests, mountain meadows, snow-dusted crags, and gnarled granite. An alpine start is required to avoid the midday heat so be prepared and take plenty of water.
Campers have plenty to choose from. The San Jacinto area offers two drive-in campsites, four hike-in primitive campsites, and adventures for every brand of wilderness craving. If you want to backpack to the summit over a day or two try the Deer Springs Trail. This park has adventures for every brand of wilderness craving.

Newberry Springs, California is a very small peaceful town located off of Historic Route 66, also known as the "Mother Road".
It is most famously known for our groves of pistachios and the famous Baghdad Cafe which was featured in the 1987 film Baghdad Cafe. Our property happens to be 1.5 miles from the famous Baghdad Cafe which makes a quick visit to the Cafe incredibly convenient.
To celebrate our Pistachios, come join us the first Saturday of every November for our Pistachio Festival which boasts lots of vendors, food, and fun!
Speaking of festivals, if you like large firework shows in the sky, then you'll want to be sure to book a spot here every July 3rd for our big 3rd of July Festival which again, is home to lots of vendors, food, fun and an amazing firework display which we happen to have front row seats to. You won't have to worry about parking if you're already here!
Do you love celestial events? If so, you'll want to book a site here between July 17th and August 24th for the 2025 year, to witness the Perseids Meteor Shower. Our night skies are also one of the best views for many Space X launchings as well as just simply stargazing. Some people have even been able to capture beautiful pictures of the Milky Way from our humble little town!

Directions were clear and the property was easily accessible. We absolutely loved the property, the privacy and the many options for dispersed camping. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and miss it already. We will certainly be returning soon with friends and family!

I really enjoyed tent camping on Kim’s land, the directions leading to the camping site were easy, it felt like we were fairly isolated, even though we could see different buildings or the road from the site.
I had reception, although hardly, but it was easy enough to get to the next town for food, supplies, or wifi.
The stars were amazing, there is a “ghost town” under an hour away, that was surprisingly enjoyable, and there seems to be plenty of trails for ATVing or motorbikes.

We really loved camping at the Holcomb Valley Ranch! The camp sites were huge compared to what you usually get at a regular site, so you had a really good separation from other campers. The site was well shaded, but had plenty of areas to soak up the sun. The valley itself was really beautiful so next time, I'm going to request one of the sites right next to the valley for the incredible view. Best of all, for us, our dogs could be off leash (with respect to other campers). The larger camp site area meant that with them off leash, they were way more relaxed and were able to explore on their own more, which also, I'm sure made them happier. Close enough to Big Bear if needed, but far enough away that it felt perfectly isolated. We are definitely coming back.

We had a great time at Holcomb Valley Ranch. The campsite was clean and our space was large. We are able to fill up the RV with water when we arrived, which was super helpful. Quiet hours were quiet and the place was peaceful. Our dog was off the leash for most of the time, and it was fine.

Check in was super easy and the site was huge! The view was amazing! Good fire pit and picnic table. Super quiet at night with easy access to trails. We were able to Hike, Bike and take the Jeep to do a bit of Off-roading. Bathrooms were decent with access to water. One of my favorite Hipcamp stops to date.

We got so lucky finding this campsite! We left Santa Barbara knowing we wanted to camp somewhere isolated enough to feel the peace and joy that comes with being one with the nature that surrounds you. And this campsite SURROUNDS you in EPIC views all the way around! From arriving in the late afternoon with the sun setting on the mountains across the road from us and the stretch of the highway that curves back to the East, to the morning glow that wakes you with the roosters haha. We only got to camp for one night, but for only a 3 hour drive from home this was indeed WELL worth the travel. My partner and I absolutely adored it and will definitely be returning.
P.S. Lucerne Valley is right down the road and when I tell you we felt right at home, every single person we interacted with was so so kind and cool. Shoutout Cafe 247 and the Lucerne Valley supermarket!! <3

Matthew’s property was quiet, peaceful, and had great views!
I came in late and it was challenging to figure out where to park in the dark, but it was eventually clear after a few back and forth messages with the host.
You can hear the freeway and train whistle in the distance but it didn’t bother me and I’m quite sensitive to noise. Would definitely stay again when passing through the area!

We met dianna as we drove in and im glad we did. She was extremely welcoming, kind, and helpful. She gave us a walkthrough of the area and made sure everything was running/functioning properly ahead of time. She left us prepared, reassured and feeling safe. This is a great place to relax, about a 15-20 minute drive to food and stores, plus you get to meet her pup who is the sweetest. We had an amazing stay thank you!

This was a great place to camp for a night! They don’t have showers and the bathrooms could be cleaner and updated. The bathrooms are accessible to anyone, not just campers. If you like night life they have a lot of really great places to get a drink and enjoy live music within walking distance. It can be loud if you’re just looking for a quiet place to camp but it was quiet by about 10:30-11p after the shows got out.

Great spot and good layout. The kids loved the bus. It was more spacious and comfortable than I expected.
One thing that could be improved is removing the motion lights inside the bus. The lights were on over my bed most of the night.

What a great place to camp. Isolated enough (other campsites are pretty much out of sight). Beautiful surroundings. And wonderful help from Shayna. Didn't know what to expect, but I was very happy even though it was a one night stay. I very much plan to come back and spend more time base camping and exploring the trails with Jeep in the future.

Such a beautiful, remote, and peaceful spot. We had so much fun playing in big bear during the day, and coming back to our little slice of serenity in the late afternoon eve. Great for lovers of true quiet.
