Holcomb Valley Ranch invites you to kick back and relax on our private, 400+ acre ranch in the San Bernardino Mountains. Centered around a 100+ acre meadow, filled with horses in summer months and surrounded by thousands of acres of mountainous National Forest. Just 15 minutes from Big Bear Lake - a large recreational, fresh-water lake for summer swimming, boating, skiing, fishing and other super fun water activities. The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails. Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s). The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents. From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails. After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow. The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance. We look forward to hosting you at the Ranch! Please note: OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes. Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Nopalito Farm has been in operation since late 2014, but the property itself has been a working farm for over 50 years. Lemons and avocados were the primary crops from the 70’s through the 00’s, and are still prominent throughout our 15 acres. Our predecessors then diversified the growing operation by planting a wide range of fruit trees ranging from guavas and passion fruit to peaches and figs. For a decade, hops were grown on 2 acres and were sold to breweries throughout southern California. We’ve since replaced the hop yard with perennial flowers, but continue to cultivate a wide variety of delicious fruits.

Such a cool campsite! The views were spectacular and the site felt really private, while also being close enough to town that we got to enjoy Wildomar, Murrieta, and Temecula really easily. We loved hanging out in the shelter and watching the sunrise and sunset. We’d love to stay here again!

The area is nice. The cove#2 was shaded which made is pleasant. There are other areas with better views if that's something you care about. We had a wonderful time! The land was beautiful with views of the mountains. The campsite was beautiful, clean, spacious and had a clean bathroom with a HOT Shower. Awesome! We were only 2 people and we car camped but the site (#1 Elderberry Park) is a group site. What is cool is that there are little areas where tents could be pitched that each had a little privacy. We will definitely come back with some friends. There is hiking and a lot to explore. The icing on the cake were the folks at the farm. From David, who met us when we arrived and took us to our campsite and also gave us a tour of the land. To Rich who we met out in the olive groves harvesting olives. To Genine who prepared a wonderful tasting of the EVOO olive oils they produce and her Jelly/Jams. You could really tell that they had a love of the land and wanted to share it. Needless to say, we drove off happy (and some olive oils and jams). Until next time….

1 night at Unique City Escapes

The Little Red Barn is a cozy and comfortable glamping stay located conveniently near Valley Parkway in Escondido, close to shops, restaurants, and great hiking at Elfin Forest. It’s one of three glamping structures on the property. The high ceilings and additional loft mattress make the barn feel spacious, and we appreciated the little touches like electricity, a fan, and a heater for cooler nights. The shared bathroom area was clean, modern, and had reliable hot water — a big plus! There’s plenty of shared outdoor space with picnic tables, lounge chairs, and seating areas, making it a great place to relax. We didn’t even need to use the heater during our mid-October stay — the weather was perfect. This spot is a great introduction to camping for those who want the outdoor feel without being too far from the city. Our pup loved exploring the space (though the $50 pet fee is a bit on the higher side). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, laid-back glamping experience close to town!

Tucked away on a dirt hill, the bright orange VW bus sits shaded against a huge boulder. It opens completely in the back for a cool breeze and paints a retro picture. There are two metal chairs besides it. I was expecting a picnic table, but that was absent. Luckily, I brought a table. The wooden platform below the bus was a really nice touch. I would have loved an outdoor rug to complete the look. I would recommend bringing your own lighting (lanterns, headlamps, lights). Overall, it's a unique, van life camping spot.

I was greeted into the camp as I pulled up. Vicki was there to help get me situated. I followed, in my truck, to my camp site. I took the off-road site since my truck is 4x4. It was also the furthest away from other campers. I went alone to get away and get unplugged. The site is beautiful with stunning sunsets. I was ablw to unwind and get away! My site cam with a shovel for my camp fire and two lounge chairs. Bathrooms and showers were close by and clean and warm water for the shower! The campgrounds have a historic background, Nate Harrison had a homestead here and these are native lands, whcih I couldnt find much info on but will look up for I do plan on visiting more often. I will be back with family and friends and solo too! Every person either camping or working was very kind and helpful!

Excellent place to camp, nice views, the city lights are nice to look at in the night. The spot is more than big enough to acomodate a couple vehicles with tents, its easy enough to find a level spot to set up on. There is a hand wash station and an outhouse building with a porta potty in it that is very convenient. The ground is pretty smooth and holds a spike very well. The host Shane was very nice and led us to the spot. let me clarify the road a little its a little bumpy but nothing crazy, there are ruts on the side and some bushes, nothing that warrants special vehicle or 4x4 as long as you pay attention and use common sense the road is no problem, at a couple places it looks steep but its really not anything to be concerned with. If you come up at night as long as you go slow and have good lights its not a problem, its a refuge and farm and has some cools stuff to look at, there are pigs, a goose, ducks, chicken, they have lots of fruit trees as well. As for wild life you may encounter we were told the usual you would expect for the area, we saw some hawks, a couple frogs at night and a baby snake, nothing to be concerned with. Pros, great host, clean well managed camping spot, nice view of the city lights. Cell service works at the camp site so if you want to make a call or stream you can. Cons, not really cons but if you are looking for super dark sky there is some light pollution from the city lights, just all about what you are looking for HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The Place is absolutely gorgeous. Very clean and private with great parking spots for non 4X4 vehicles. Port potty was clean. You can park your vehicle on the shore although I wouldn’t advise it for non 4X4 vehicles. The only con I would say is that it’s so close to the street that you can hear the cars go by but it was okay. There is everything you need in 5 minute drive radius, so don’t worry if you forget anything. The host is super friendly and responsive. Definitely coming back again.

We absolutely LOVED camping here! The site was beautiful, there were amazing views, & the bathrooms were so nice & clean. They had fire pits & shovels on each site which was so nice. It truly was peaceful as everyone there kept the noise to a minimum & when it would get “loud” it was peoples laughter which would make you want to laugh & enjoy the moment as well. We definitely plan on going back. We took our dogs & they had a blast roaming around & exploring. There was a dog on site that I’m assuming is the lands dog who was very friendly & sweet, he got along with my dogs perfectly fine.

We purchased Namaste Farms in 1997 when I was showing reined cowhorses as well as raising thoroughbred racehorses. In 2005, I purchased my first wool sheep and fell in love. Today, Namaste Farms is recognized around the globe for raising high quality wool producing sheep. While sheep are the primary animals at Namaste Farms, there are countless other animals, both four legged and feathered!NOTE: Namaste Farms is a true working farm with copious amounts of sheep, goats, chickens, peafowl, and countless other animals. Along with those, we have free range squirrels, rabbits, flies, dust and yes, even free range spiders. If you're wanting a rustic experience that gives you a break from city life and you can handle dust, dirt, cobwebs (and these can happen over night inside your cottage and WILL be in the common areas), with sounds of animals vocalizing at all hours of the day and night, then Namaste Farms is a perfect fit for you. Know, you're supporting a 501c3 charity and all the revenue goes to support the animals.This booking is for the Treehouse, and while it's only 1/2 a mile from the city limits, it has a rural feel and is centrally located to all wineries and most of the major equestrian facilities including Galway Downs, Green Acres, and California Ranch Company. For those who are coming to Temecula for horse shows, we also have a large barn with bedded stalls and turnouts (for an additional fee). There are designated horse trails right outside our gates which will even take you to Galway Downs and California Ranch Company. If you're into golf, you can enjoy Temecula's 7 PGA golf courses or Pechanga Casino which are also within a short driving distance to the farm. If horses or golf isn't your thing, you can visit Temecula Valley wineries which are all ~ 1/2-3.8 miles of the cottage gates. The wineries are not within walking distance of each other, UBER is only too happy to come here and pick you up! If you're not interested in any activities and simply want a "staycation," you can hang out here where you're welcomed to walk around the farm and interact with the animals. At night, enjoy the sounds of serenity.

You can also hike down and around to explore more of the surrounding nature preserve (over 3,000 acres completely engulfing our 20 acre property), which includes a seasonal creek, granite boulders, and miles of hiking trails. You will find wild sage and buckwheat shrubs growing all over the property, as well as vibrant seasonal wildflowers. The campsite is set far back from roads so it is very peaceful and quiet and allows you to feel free to enjoy yourselves without worrying much about noise. The large flat pad is spacious and should be able to accommodate any sized camper/trailer/RV. There is fresh potable mountain spring water and a septic hookup available at the site. There is currently no water hookup for RV’s and there is no restroom facility (we are planning to install a composting or pit toilet soon). Please come fully equipped with a Luggable Loo or something similar. Access to the site is on a maintained dirt road with cutouts for water run off. 4WD is not necessary. Please be prepared though, the road in has some narrow, hilly, curvy stretches. It could appear challenging or intimidating to people with larger rigs. If you have a class A motorhome and are hoping to visit, please message me first and let me know and we can discuss whether the road in will work for you. We are currently in the process of beautifying the area and will post more updated photos soon of the actual site. *Note: Our solar pump went out so the outdoor shower is not currently functional.
