Afternoon breezes while red tailed hawks ride the thermals, and woodpeckers work on their treasure hoarde. Spot the breeding pair of Bald Eagles who swoop down almost low enough to touch!

This is great option for those who like to bring all their own gear to camp, and don’t need or want all the extras. Our new Primitive Adventures campsites are located on an established 5-star property. It’s a peaceful, secluded and private country estate. The 20 acre property starts out flat and then gentle to moderate sloped hillside with coastal live oak trees, eucalyptus trees, pine trees, meadows and many interesting landscape features nestled between the vast farmlands of North Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties.
We are 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The weather is usually mild here and we have cool evenings. We do get days that are in the 90s sometimes in the summer and early fall, but we also have lots of shade with all the trees. There is wildlife like deer, turkeys and owls and so much more. We have horses and a donkey, separate from the campsites, so no flies or smell from them. We provide one hot water shower and there are 3 outhouse style toilets on the grounds.
There is NO running water at the sites so we suggest you bring your own drinking water. There will be limited water provided for hand/dish washing.
We are a pack it in/pack it out campground so please, be mindful of waste as we ask that you take it out with you.
You may forage for plentiful eucalyptus and oak firewood for free, or pre-cut pine is available for purchase. Most of our weekends are fully booked at our Rustic Campsites already, so here is another chance to have yourself a weekend camping trip at our new Primitive Adventures campsites. Nancy was the highlight of the trip and so accommodating and helpful throughout the entire process. She made me feel so welcome and she was lovely to talk to. Despite all the beautiful land on Nancy’s property, my pups decided to go on a little four hour “adventure” by sneaking under the gate. Nancy was SO helpful with contacting neighbors to be on the lookout and even helped drive around herself!
Perhaps if you have opportunistic pups who like to explore every nook and cranny for a loophole, keep them on a long line! Luckily the stinkers came back once they got bored of freedom 🫠

We loved tent camping here! We enjoyed the privacy of Site B, as well as the clean outhouses and hot water shower. The hosts are communicative and friendly, and keep to themselves unless you request assistance. One thing to note is that site B is on an incline. The picnic area is relatively level and the tent spot is nice and flat, though still a bit slanted. Building a campfire was easy with wood and fire starters purchased from the host and delivered straight to the campsite. Spend the extra couple of dollars for the colorful fire packs! Overall, this was a great stay in a convenient location (easy driving distance from Monterey and Santa Cruz). Would definitely return!

We loved Heather and Ed’s wonderful property! We did so many fun things: water gunfights, kayaking, swimming, cowboys training (ax throwing and roping cow), and stargazing. And that was only the first day! On the second day we went on a five-hour kayaking trip with Ed’s help. Truly amazing experiences. We fell in the river at least three times but it was great fun.
Already recommended your place to one of our Boy Scout leaders. We will definitely come back again. :-)

Ed & Heather was just a delight and really goes out of their way to help you get the best experience camping at their very lovely property. At one point Ed was teaching the other campers how to lasso and he was giving me fishing pointers. Special mention to Blue and Axel (pups) that played with my kids by the waters. Great stay at this lovely Hipcamp. Host (Nancy) met me nearby and guided me in which was helpful - it is up a rather obscure road. Very private, in fact was lucky enough to have the whole thing to myself. Even with another group there would have been plenty of room. Very clean bathroom and a fun, old West looking outside area. Will repeat!

A beautiful and very peaceful place, loved the outdoor kitchen and flush toilet complete with bidet!
The very best part was the fully fenced property so my dog could be off leash the entire time.
Hannah the horse and Daisy the donkey were the icing on the cake.
