Explore the mines and hang out on our Groveland, California ranch! We have 824 acres on a beautiful cattle ranch with two small ponds. On our property, you'll find frogs, turtles, oak trees, pine trees and stunning views of Yosemite. We have several campsites to choose from including RV camping, tent camping, and a glamping tent. Pets are welcome. Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban. Potable water and toilet are available onsite. There's a golf course less than a mile away. We are also very close to town. Access to Yosemite via 120 takes 1 hour , Groveland 10 minutes, and Coulterville 5 minutes. You’ll find cows, goats, chickens, llamas and our two beloved livestock dogs on the property. Many pools to cool off in and sweeping sunset views from the highest point on the property. There is lots of nature to enjoy including bird watching, seasonal wildflowers, and other wild animals. We welcome all ❤️🌈 We highly recommend not bringing any animals, including service animals. We have two livestock guardian dogs that free roam the property and they are not friendly with other animals. IMPORTANT!!! Update jun19th: This year, water levels are lower than usual due to limited rainfall. As a result, swimming at the swimming hole will be closed starting in early July. Sharing my life and property with rescued animals has become a full time job full of joy and lessons learned. What great teachers they are. I began to share the experiences with my animals by offering a unique farm tour called coffee with Critters and I find that I really enjoy sharing this lifestyle with like minded folk. If you love animals and want to camp near them please join me. Learn more about this land: Your campsite will be nestled among animal enclosures, listen to the munching of hay or the snorting of the horse. Your stay will include a modified animal tour and you can engage with horse, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks and more... dogs and cats of course ;). I have a couple of spots but I would be flexible regarding campsite. My toilet is a compost toilet.  The outside shower has been upgraded with privacy curtains etc following suggetions from previous campers ;) I have a million $$ view and a modest house. My house is about 45 minutes from the Yosemite park entrance and it's an easy commute back/forth. Flowering vines cover my outdoor porches where we have big dinners when Wwoofers or Couchsurfers are in residence. The property is home to many animals, horse, goats, pigs, chickens, peacocks, rabbits, guinea pigs - dogs & cats - of course! :-) . The roosters wake us up pretty early so fair warning about that - but I love living with them and it makes the property so much more friendly with all the critters. My house is pet friendly and yours are welcome if they are 1. Fixed, 2. Are social and friendly with my pets, 3. Will not chase the cats and chickens. I can babysit your pups if you go to the park - provided they are compliant with rules above. I work from home. There are loads of trails nearby and 2 pretty ponds and plenty of wildlife, deer, turkeys and more. The property is rolling hills however there are plenty of flat areas for tents. NO FIRES PERMITTED ANYWHERE ON MY PROPERTY APRIL-OCTOBER - non negotiable.

What it is: * 100-acre property with rustic RV/tent sites, vintage campers, and cabins for rent. * Perfect for escaping the city and enjoying nature. * Rich in Gold Rush history! Where it is: * Near Yosemite National Park (33 miles to the entrance: approx. an hour drive). * In the historic Whitlock Mining district. * Close to the Merced River Recreation Area and 12 miles to the Historic town of Mariposa. What you can do: * Explore Yosemite. * Hike and enjoy the scenery. * Relax and watch for wildlife (deer, turkeys, hawks, maybe even a bear!). Where you can stay: * 2 Tent Sites: No hookups or water, but you'll have a fire pit, privacy, and plenty of space. * Cozy Camper: Sleeps 4, has hot water, A/C, stove, fridge, toilet, and shower. * Hummingbird Camper: Sleeps 2, has hot water, A/C, stove, toilet, and shower. This site is not kid-friendly. * Cabins on the Hilltop: 2 cabins each furnished with a queen bed, electricity, and A/C. * Dry Camp Pull-Through RV: 1 RV site, no hook-ups. Beautiful, serene view, the road is easy. Pull through or back in. Fire pit. This site is set apart from the others. Important things to know: * The road to the Pull-In Dry Camp RV is gravel and easy to navigate. * The road to the remaining sites is unpaved, rocky, mountainous, and very rough. This terrain can be difficult to navigate so AWD or 4WD vehicles are recommended. Low-profile vehicles are not advised. Optional parking may be available for the hike-in. * Creeks are full in the wet season but dry up in summer. Good to know: * People who have stayed there like how quiet it is and how close it is to Yosemite. * There are other camping options nearby if Canyon Crest is booked. This was the most beautiful, fun, and relaxing experience we’ve had camping so far. The views were amazingly beautiful of the river and mountains, my boyfriend and I were in awe the whole time. Terry was such an amazing host he was very knowledgeable and kind and he made sure we were good and tended to us very well. We will be back over the summer and we can’t wait!

The campsite was stunning. Gorgeous views of the river / waterfall. Beautiful place to see the sunset. Camp was super well maintained. Bathrooms / showers were really clean and functional. Liza and Tom were super attentive, accommodating and responsive hosts. We stayed for 3 nights and would have stayed longer if we could. We stayed at the Yosemite Falls site with our 21.1’ campervan and it worked perfectly. Super close to Yosemite as well!!

Great camping spot on our way to Yosemite! Our van 🚐 fit perfectly on site #4 with no leveling needed. The views in the morning were extraordinary 🤩⛰️⛰️☕️ Liza was very responsive and accommodating 😁🙏. They even had bath towels in the shower 🚿 room Would definitely stay here again! Also interesting in their summer rafting tours as this is a staying area for rating 🌊 tours 🤩🤙🏾🤙🏾

What an absolute gem of a place! It's so obviously loved and cared for- and we had a wonderful stay to the point that we skipped our last day at Yosemite to hang out at Red Tail Ranch and walk around the meadow, play in the hammock, do yoga, read in the beautiful barn, and wash up in the epic shower. Rob is great & gave us such good advice for the area, and it was so fun to see his books in all the shops in the park! We had the place to ourselves but planning to come back with a big group, it's perfect for that. 10/10 would recommend!

We’re nuts about it! What a great place to stay! Easy access and parking. Beautifully landscaped and so interesting. Julie was so welcoming and communication was wonderful. Exactly as described…actually…better! Goes above and beyond for a campground….Games, campfire, covered picnic area, horseshoe pits, clean gravel, no dirt…the list of all the little touches goes on! Very private. We would stay again!

Barry’s land was wonderful. It was clean, we loved going on the hay ride to experience the cows, bull Napoleon and the many goats they have. Feeding them and able to spend time with the animals was great. My family and I had a wonderful time and make precious memories. We have already talked about returning.

I really don’t want to write this review because it is just going to make Cole Ranch even more popular! But how could I not. Barry and Chrissy work so hard- this place is clearly a labor of love! It is so relaxing - being right on the river is about as good as it gets! And everything you need is right there for the taking. Water toys? ✔️ Firewood? ✔️ ice? ✔️ Bathrooms are so clean and cheerful. Not perfect but it’s camping folks!

We stayed during spring break and practically had the campground to ourselves. This was a great location to get to Yosemite! Easy access to the valley via a gorgeous drive but without the crowds. My kiddos LOVED the darts! Our doggo loved the dog run! I was a bit skeptical of the rustic shower, but it ended up being my favorite part of the experience. I would definitely stay at Robb’s place again!

John camp was lovely and very lush and green. It felt one of the best places I’ve been to around Yosemite area. You can walk the property and look at all the cows and lush hills 45 min from Yosemite and there’s a lake nearby too which is 5 min drive away Will definitely come back

Weekend Trip to Strange Ranch - River and Gold

This was the first visit to Strange Ranch, and it wont be the last! *FIRST AND FOREMOST* You WILL NEED AWD/4X4 CAPABLE VEHICLES! (The paths to the sites are on dirt inclines) Now the good stuff: We stayed at site 1 which was amazing with the view of the trees, birds, poppy’s all on the hillside sides & the sound of the river through the night. There are paths to hike with proper gear and many land features like Native American grinding stones and a small Gold mine shaft. You can hike to & reach BLM lands from camp making this a proper hiker’s dream base camp! The warm day and the cold night made for a serene atmosphere. Terry, our camp host, was very courteous, polite, and accommodating. He and his amazing dog Whiskey made the trip that much more special, and will be the main reason for our return! Thank you Terry for your hospitality and amazing campsites! Looking forward to our next stay!!!!
