Love creek sanctuary was founded in 2016. It all started with Stu the steer and his best friend Petey the goat, from there we have rescued over 90 animals, 45 make their home here at the sanctuary. Our camping areas are fenced from the animals but you are free to explore our 12 acres and interact with the animals during your stay here. We ask that children under 10 stay outside the animal areas and children over 10 are accompanied by a grownup. We have plenty of art and child friendly activities, just ask and we can set you up. We have a no dog policy because the chickens and birds are free ranging, unfortunately we have had several bad experiences with dogs attacking the birds and other animals. If you have a dog that has been around farm animals and is well behaved, let's talk about it. We have 5 dogs so the birds have NO FEAR of them.

There are donkeys, roosters, dogs and peacocks that make noise, sometimes at night and always early in the morning. Please be aware that you may hear the donkeys bray (usually lasts about 30 seconds), roosters crow, guinea fowl chirp. It is startling and will wake you up. We do our best to keep the dogs hushed but we cannot stop the donkeys, roosters and peacocks from doing their thing. If you are a light sleeper, please bring earplugs or select another wonderful Hipcamp in our area, thank you!
In addition to the interesting sounds you will hear, you will encounter dirt, poop and spiders. Since we are a working farm, things get dirty. We spray all high traffic surfaces twice a day but things get dirty and when it rains it is muddy. Please plan accordingly.
We are centrally located between Grass Valley and Auburn, giving you access to endless recreational activities, wineries, breweries and restaurants.
We have 50 or so rescued farm animals, you can interact with our pig Hank, Mojo the goat or Teddy the alpaca.
NOTE: Starting Memorial Day each year, we have replaced all of our wood fire pits with gas fire pits. We have increased our prices to help cover the costs of propane.

We loved staying on the farm with all of the rescued animals. We even got to feed them. Our kids loved petting the animals and spending time on the farm. Host Shanna was very welcoming and kind. She even provided us firewood and helped with some electrical issues with our RV. Beautiful sanctuary farm away from the hustle and bustle! We are already looking forward to a return visit in the near future :)

Perfect space for family camping trip. Water, electricity, and wifi available 🤩 Jason, our host, was very accommodating and answered any questions we had. This spot is also close to a really nice lake! About 15-20 min walk to the lake or 5min by car.

What a great campground! Plenty of space for you and your friends to set up tents with enough space in between for privacy even! Porta-potty was clean and well-maintained. Plenty of branches and wood you can grab around for a campfire, and you can even buy some from Jason if you prefer the convenience. Easy to find and great communication with Jason as well. And access to the cute lake is definitely a plus!
Love the outdoor shower as well but the addition of a small curtain for extra privacy would be extra perfect!
All in all it was a great home base for our Winnemuca lake hike; highly recommended!

Jason was an awesome host and the site was great. Plenty of space for people to spread out their tents. We had about 10, feel like you could have at least 20 easy. Plenty of firewood available, ac power, water, clean porta potty also available. The fire pit is kinda close to one of the houses on the property but it doesn’t feel intrusive at all. All the tent spots are very secluded. Jason’s lake permit turned out to be super handy. Even when day use was full, we were let right in with the pass. Jason was super helpful with giving tips on where to go on the lake or nearby restaurants etc. We had a great time at the lake during the day and partied through the night at the campsite. Jason was so chill and friendly. If you have a large group of people you’re trying to get together for a camping party, this is a great spot to do it at.

What a great three days we spent onJason’s land. I really needed a restful mini vacation with my dog, and Jason’s policy of renting to only one group at a time meant we had the entire campground to ourselves. The woods are beautiful and peaceful, and they provide just enough in the way of amenities to make camping really easy and comfortable. One note for those traveling with dogs: the lake that you can hike to doesn’t allow dogs to swim, so while it’s a great hike and a beautiful lake, don’t count on it for relief from the heat for your dog if you camp in hot weather. We drove an hour to South Lake Tahoe one day when it was projected to be 93 in Pollock Pines.

Jason was the best host ever, I never leave reviews but the way he went out of his way to make us feel welcome and at home he deserves 10000/100 review. The campsite was great, tons of different spaces for tents we had 13 tents and our group had about 20 adults plus a few kids and it was more than enough space. Not too far from the lake, great outdoor space for hiking as well. There was showers, bathroom, fire pit, fire wood, he provided trash bags, toilet paper and so much more. If you’re looking for a great camping space for a large group this is the place and Jason is the best!

I love camping on Jason’s land. It feels very private and safe. I can leave all of my equipment there and go to the lake without worrying about whether my gear will be there when I return.
The hose and outlet right near the camping table is super convenient. I also appreciated the firewood provided so we didn’t have to haul any with us.
However, the best thing about camping on Jason’s land is the host. Forgot something? Just ask, he might have it. Need local information? He has that too. And he is very easy to communicate with. I definitely recommend camping at Jason’s place.

Shanna was a great host - she greeted us, made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She went out of her way to help us secure the umbrellas for optimal shade during dinner, and answered all our questions about her animals patiently. The animals were the highlight of our stay - we saw alpacas, goats, donkeys, horses, pigs (shout out to Hank the pig), chickens, ducks.. it was such a fun stay and for us to unplug. 10/10 recommend and would love to return some day.

We had such an amazing stay at Jason and Steve’s camping spot! Although we arrived pretty late due to heavy traffic, Jason went above and beyond and even had a cozy campfire waiting for us – such a thoughtful and kind gesture that made us feel so welcome right away.
Both Jason and his Uncle Steve were incredibly helpful, friendly, and easy to talk to. It was truly a pleasure to meet them. The campsite itself was clean, beautiful, and had everything we needed.
The surrounding forest and the lake are absolutely magical – peaceful and full of natural beauty. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and very grateful for the experience.
We will definitely be coming back – this place and these hosts are something special. Thank you again, Jason and Steve!

This campsite was awesome. There were tons of shady spots to set up tents. Plenty of space around the fire pit too, so it never felt cramped and made hanging out really comfortable.
The area is super pretty, with tall trees all around and a super peaceful vibe. And it's just a short hike down to Jenkinson Lake. The water was nice and cool, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. A perfect spot to chill or take a swim. We brought some collapsible kayaks and were able to paddle around the the little islands out there.
At night, the sky is insane. A million stars twinkling overhead. You can see the milky way. Absolutely stunning.
Jason was super cool and easygoing. His directions were clear and easy to follow, which made getting there no problem at all. He even let us use his parking pass for the lake, which made it super easy to get the kayaks on the water.
We were too busy have such a good time that we ended up taking so few pictures, but I feel like even the best pictures wouldn't do it justice. Easily a 10 out of 10. Would totally recommend.

It was a relaxing getaway and nice to be surrounded by animals and nature. The chickens and peacocks roam freely and visited our site often, which I adored. If you want to visit alpacas, this is the place to book. The rooster started early, maybe before 5am, but was tolerable and its to be expected. The temps dropped down to 35 degrees so having both options of a wood fire and propane fire provided warmth while taking in the sunset. I booked the electrical, but only used it for the electric kettle. It’s an extension cord and while we had the adapter to plug into the vehicle, we chose not to use it. We took a drive to Empire Mines Historic SP and spent the afternoon exploring the grounds.
