Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. We listed the site for up to 12 campers but feel free to reach out if your group is bigger. Please check out the newest addition of our cabin bunkhouse. Take a look at the pictures - you can add it to your stay as an extra when you book! The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward. 'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here. This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground. Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days. This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers. Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

Sites #2, #6, #7, and #11 have the most space, while sites #4, #7, #8, #9 and #11 offer the most privacy. Sites 1-3, any combination of 5-7, and 12-13 are well suited for groups. Other site groupings work well depending on the number of sites being reserved. Site #8 is unique in that it has a wood deck/platform for tents. There are also NO wood fires allowed at site #8 as it is under the tree canopy. A propane firepit is provided for your use. You can bring a 5 gallon propane tank from home, or a full one is available for rent on site. Well behaved dogs are welcome at Finley Camp. All dogs must be kept on leash at all times while on the property. There are no exceptions to this. The Meadow Grove is a wild and natural pasture with campsites located near the historic Narrow Gauge Railroad bed on a family owned working ranch in coastal Northern California. Since we are at the edge of a wild forested zone, predators do come down the hill at night.  Unfortunaely our lovely 12 year old Anatolian shepher passed away this summer or you would have heard her on guard duty.. Bodega Bay and its restaurants and beaches are 5 miles away. Bodega is a quaint historic town and our goat farm is at the top of a hill with exquisite views of the coastal hills on 3 sides. Nearby is the church and schoolhouse made famous by Alfred Hitchcock. One acre is our family compound, two acres are forest preserve, and the other two acres are the orchard - where the parking sites have been integrated. The orchard has many different fruit trees including heritage Gravenstein apples that were originally planted by the family from Italy. The Gravensteins are ripe between mid July to mid August. The orchard borders a forest with old growth Redwoods, Douglas Fir, Bay Laurel, Oaks, and Madrone. Some wildlife passes through the orchard, especially birds. The site offers great star gazing, sun rises, moon rises and access to a charming walk on a beautiful country lane for sunsets. We highly recommend visiting for the Spring bloom in April and May for a temperate tropical experience. A Two minute drive to Occidental, and a twenty minute drive to the beaches of the Sonoma Coast and the Russian River. A great location to explore and enjoy nearby small towns, wineries, dairies, hiking, bicyling, surfing, kayaking, and farmers markets... or just relax at the site, make a picnic, and bask in the tranquility...

Learn more about this land: This site can accommodate RVs smaller than 24ft. We are a working goat farm with goats and chickens and an operational dairy where Mt.; Eitan makes lovely goat and cow cheese.. Since we are at the edge of a wild forested zone, predators do come down the hill at night.  Unfortunaely our lovely 12 year old Anatolian shepher passed away this summer or you would have heard her on guard duty.. Bodega Bay and its restaurants and beaches are 5 miles away. Bodega is a quaint historic town and our goat farm is at the top of a hill with exquisite views of the coastal hills on 3 sides. Nearby is the church and schoolhouse made famous by Alfred Hitchcock. Great place for a beginners backpacking trip. We stayed at campsite #6. It was very secluded and quiet. You can walk from the coast camp sites on a short trail to the beach. Huge Beach with beautiful sand and not too many people around.

Daniel's property is gorgeous and we loved site 11 tucked into it's own nook, far enough aways from everyone else to feel cozy. The frogs, owls, and cow neighbors sounded so soothing. The porta potties are clean and the hand washing station is an added bonus. Follow the directions on hipcamp for sure! We'd definitely come back. Such a great location in the woods and close to the coast. Be sure to check out old growth tree grove 15 mins north.

We came with a group and our dogs! It was nice to have the pond to paddleboard in. And the string lights and fire pit to enjoy night time activities. Sam was quick to communicate with us and the site was secluded enough but still close to town to grab supplies and eat out if you wanted to. Winter camping is chilly so come prepared! The amount of picnic tables were great and the port a potties were clean. If with furry friends make sure they’re on flea and tick, as with any outdoor adventure some hitchhikers are bound to jump on. We had no problems when on the gravel and wood chips, just keep an eye out if your dog likes to roam into brush (tall brush is always fair game for ticks most anywhere in the Bay Area) 😉

Great quiet spot! The drive up had me take a very narrow road that I had to back up on so opposing traffic could pass- on my way out it took me on a wider road- just be aware if you’re on the narrow road to go slow and if on weekend be prepared to see tons of cyclists. I’m surprised time went by so quickly! I messed up and thought I booked a second night and it didn’t go through, so the hipcamper who came and Rebecca the host were very gracious about it and let me stay a second night anyways (thank you both!). Would definitely come back again. I didn’t use the porta potty- but it’s great that they offer it! The weather was beautiful and clear, warm even towards the end of November. Very damp at night as others have said, so kept things inside that can’t get wet. Had a great, peaceful time!

Directions were excellent and contact/communication were great. The spot is clearly marked and conveniently had water, power and a trash bin for use. I had an issue with the power/extension cord initially. Let the host know and I believe it was fixed later at night. It wasn’t a huge issue as my solar battery had enough power for making coffee and using microwave in the morning. My heater worked off regular battery. The location is convenient to get to downtown, which I did. It was all lit up for the Plaza lighting that evening. So fun!

Bill’s land was one of the best hip camps I have ever stayed at! The Indonesian bedroom was so serene and I slept like a baby with the heated bed. The bathroom was so beautifully decorated with ornate paintings, little treasures, and the stained glass window was intricately stunning. The hot tub was a bonus and it was extremely close to the town of Petaluma and hiking trails. You definitely should stay here for a romantic getaway!
