The spot was perfect for the through-traveler or solo traveler looking for a safe place to park and rest. The soft landscape lighting was a nice touch and the privacy of spot #2 was ideal for me.

cynthia did a great job setting expectations. all 3 sites were taken when i was there which made it a little tight…but overall - it’s perfectly located minutes from the beach in beautiful half moon bay. if you’re looking for a super easy stop off for the night…cynthia’s location is perfect & a great price for the location. if you’re looking for a few nights of a private getaway - this might not be exactly what you’re looking for.

Perfect overnight pit stop.

The spot was great for an overnight stop. A safe place to park and sleep until morning. It was a little hard to find in the dark but once I read the directions a second time it was easy. Yes you can hear the cars from the road but you can also hear the ocean.

Perfect Overnight Spot for Us

Stayed at “Sight 2”; corner directly across from mini house. Potable water outlet on the side of mini house & was great to refill our limited water storage after showering with our propane camp shower! Outhouse was exceptionally clean & plenty of room for our F150 with RTT. Entrance is not on a side street so keep an eye out for turn off the main highway. Only negative is the roosters sounding off at 4:30 from neighbors. Super convenient & affordable spot considering the limited options around the city & the coast. Would 100% stay again, couldn’t have asked for a better spot for our trip.

As advertised but for me it was too close to the highway and so the traffic noise was more than I liked. It could have been because of the extra traffic due to the pumpkin festival so on a normal weekend it might be ok. Other than that, it was a nice place to stay, walking distance to town and a clean porta potty.

like others have said, it was technically a safe place to sleep for the night and good as a last resort, especially for those with a camper van or small rv on the back of a truck. but for somewhere so loud from highway 1, somewhere so horse piss smelly, in a small lot with multiple others camping in the same yard and with a bathroom that’s a plastic bag, i wouldn’t pay $50 for this as a tent camper again! i think $20-30 would make more sense.

Hidden gem

This was a sweet spot that felt cozy and serene. The sounds of wildlife filled the air from frogs to birds to the wild flowers and grasses blown by the wind. Cynthia was super quick to respond and was a great host. She has a few comfort chairs, a picnic table, potted flowers and outdoor night lights. Everything to make you sleep soundly.

The description is mostly accurate. I used a tent and was at site 2. I didn’t realize it when I was pitching the tent but the neighbors barn has a flood light that shown directly into my tent when it got dark. Managed to wrangle my car around to block most of it. The neighbors rooster also started around 5 in the morning or at least BEFORE the sun was up LOL! I think this is perfect for sleep inside vehicles as my two neighbors had that set up. I say that because the space is really small- think of a rest stop and the trucks lined up. That sort of thing so not really a camping spot. The sounds listed in the description are very accurate. It’s road, little bit of shoulder, fence then property so definitely see and hear the cars. Started hearing the ocean around midnight which was awesome! The potty was really clean though it’s not a pit it’s a luggable Lou so it became ripe quick though started off clean. The table/picnic area as well as the grass where my tent went was also really clean and in good shape. The distances to town are not accurate for walking. I planned to pitch my tent and walk to town for dinner but it was going to be 40 minutes to my restaurant and 30 minutes to get to the edge of town. Same for going to the beach - which there is driving access next street down and lands at the Coastal Trail which is awesome! But w wee bit further walking than 10 minutes. Maybe I’m slow but didn’t want to risk walking a highway later than I planned because of the distance.

Great restaurant nearby in HMB.. - Sam’s and awesome craft brewery - HMB Brewry. Very convenient site to end trip and fly out of SFO. Private. Built in alarm with the roosters😀

We were confronted by an angry human because we had two cars. The vibes were hostile. I would not recommend this campsite. It felt unwelcoming and after we paid her the extra money she kept telling us we were lucky 🍀 to get to pay money to her and I had to say “bye” to get her to stop talking. Not a welcoming place to stay for a camping experience unless you are just literally dropping off of the road to sleep in your car and continuing on your way.

If you camp here, I don’t recommend trying to find it in the dark. Even with the provided directions, it was a challenge locating the road. It was ok for a one night pit stop, but the smell of manure from the nearby farm and the onsite bathroom was overwhelming, which kept me from being able to open the vent windows for airflow in my camper van. It’s a maybe 25 foot by 25 foot gravel lot and all four sites are next to one another. It served its purpose to camp somewhere without being ticketed, but for the price… not worth it in my opinion unless it’s a last resort.

Very easy to find and convenient for our coastal drive. We loved that we could wake up and drive 1 mile away to cliffside parking for breakfast and a morning at an incredible beach! We stayed in a camper van, so the noise was not an issue like some have mentioned in previous reviews. It is right on Highway 1 so traffic is a bit heavy and I could see how tent camping would be challenging. Our experience was convenient, and host was responsive and helpful.

Works in a pinch, which I was in. It’s very close to the freeway which was mentioned in the description, but a heads up that the noise never really slows down. Home owner came out close to 1am whistling for their dog. Rooster crowed at 3:45am-ish for about a half hour. However site is conveniently located.

We unfortunately had a change of plans the day of our stay and weren’t able to make it to the campsite, but Cynthia reached out earlier with all the info we would have needed to find the site and what’s allowed/not allowed. It was helpful and she was very nice. If I’m in the area again I would definitely book with her again.

I planned to stay here with my husband and 2 kids but ended up leaving to get a hotel as I did not feel safe after being approached and harassed by the owner. On arrival someone was already set up in our camping site which actually wasnt a big deal to us as we are flexible just parked and set up our tent on the grass area. After setting up our tent and unpacking all our things (a lot of work with 2 toddlers) I was approached by the owner upset and harassing me that I had kids and did not inform her in advance. I proved through the reservation "CONFIRMED 2 adults and 2 kids" and even showed her a direct message I sent in weeks in advance to her about the kids but she continued to be rude and blame me because she "wasn't informed". BE WARNED...THIS IS NOT A KID FRIENDLY place to camp (despite the ad). It was not until AFTER we left that she sent a message through hipcamp about a refund however it was clear to us following our conversation with this rude lady that my kids WERE NOT WELCOME there. I originally booked this despite a lot of bad reviews and turns out the reviews were correct! Do NOT stay here. Not worth the money or the headache of dealing with this rude lady.

This is a really convenient spot off highway 1 and Cynthia was really kind. However be aware it is a spot for passing by really. It has a slightly tricky access to turn into but more of an issue is turning onto the road from loose gravel on a steep incline. There is water and a porter potty. And three parking spaces all very close. We were there alone. As I said ideal to pull off the road and park up but not a hidden romantic hideaway some hip campers might be looking for.

Nice flat area and porta potty a bonus. The highway noise was louder than I expected, just too many people traveling, but it was not a problem. I would stay again due to the location & price a good value.
