Often bald eagles can be spotted at both lakes. Other wildlife you may see: deer, wild turkey, raccoons, opossums, fox, bobcat, coyote, rabbits, armadillo, otter, and squirrels. Please do not approach the wild animals! There is a pretty creek for those who like to creek walk. Petrified wood can be picked up in the creek bed. We bought this property in April 2025 after working hard and long on a decade-long dream come true! It’s a fully wooded, 4 acre L-shaped property, currently home to two residents - myself and my daughter. Every day we are working hard to cut pathways and new campsites for visitors, travelers, and potential community members. Eventually we will host events, classes, workshops, retreats, and festivals. We are still in the earliest stages of building, so it’s a very rustic, off-grid experience, and with more visitors, we plan to build cabins and install solar and water collection systems, so we can have outdoor showers, natural pools, outhouses, community areas, a retreat center, and shops for community members to run their businesses from. We are following food forest and permaculture methods instead of traditional gardening, and our long-term vision for this land is a new garden of Eden!
We need all the help we can get, so we also offer volunteer trade opportunities to anyone interested. Or, if you just need a place to step back from the busy hub of society, ground and reconnect with nature, Soultribe is the sanctuary for you!
You may utilize the little spaces we currently have available for camping, or get in touch with your primal nature, explore our woods and cut down your own trail and campsite. We will be present to assist in any way, open to sharing and communal activities - or we can offer you solitude and privacy during your trip… it’s entirely up to you!

Since 2012, we have been offering great cabin rentals, RV and tents sites on the creek. We offer three different cabins to help you recharge, unwind, and relax at beautiful Red Creek in Perkinston, MS.
There’s plenty of water within walking distance of the cabin to toss a fishing line, take a swim, or launch your boat/kayak. Relax on the sandbar, cool off in the creek, enjoy a blazing fire by the fire pit, the worries and stresses of daily life simply disappear. You wanted to get away from it all and you can! We loved this location and these folks! We had the best time. We even shared a meal. Tony and Tracy were the perfect hosts. They made sure we had what we needed. Gave us recommendations of what to visit in the area. Their little slice of heaven was quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed visited with the birds and see all of Tracy’s amazing plants. Made suggestions for better ways to do things and as we new to rving this was invaluable .

Did not actually get to stay here. Through no fault of the host. Winter storm came in and I bypassed this one but told the host to keep the reservation. I will definitely try and make it back though. They were accommodating and understood. I’d rather they have the money for any needed repairs than nitpick it.

After several days on the road, I pulled into Black River completely worn out and overstimulated—just looking for somewhere to hide out and decompress. This place was exactly what the doctor ordered.
Scott was a fantastic host, and the site itself is private and peaceful. If you're someone who needs quiet to recharge, this is your spot.
The real bonus for me was the huge open field. My dog was able to run, play, and burn off days' worth of pent-up road-trip energy—which meant we both slept well that night.
I wasn't able to take advantage of the fishing this trip, but the river is right there and the opportunity is outstanding if that's your thing. There are also hiking trails through the woods if you want to explore.
Honestly, this place checked every box. Private, quiet, dog-friendly, with water access and trails if you want them—or just peace and space if you don't. Definitely one of the top spots on my list for a return visit.

Tony and Tracy are dream hosts! Their property is beautiful and well-kept. There was sufficient room for us to throw frisbees and do school with my son outside on nice days. The spot we were in was level gravel with easy access to a covered porch. The sewer connection was a bit far but Tony had an additional sewer hose to help. We left feeling like family. We have friends close by that we like to visit when we can so we will definitely be back and look forward to seeing what they do with their property. Tracy also has quite a few plants and offered us a small plant that she started from a cutting. Such ridiculously kind people.

We loved our 1 night stay at Hometown Host! The directions they provided were clear and easy to follow. Tony and Tracy are super friendly and welcoming. They even invited us to watch the Sugar Bowl with them.
Their property is beautifully kept and very quiet at night. Hooking up was a breeze. Their 3 little pups are adorable and sweet natured. We enjoyed a very easy and relaxing stay.
We highly recommend this Hipcamp! Book it -- you won't be disappointed!

I had the most incredible experience here on Austin and Wanda’s Christmas tree farm! I stayed on Christmas and they were so kind as to share leftover Christmas food with me. Thank goodness bc everything was closed. Their dog Moscato got along with my dog perfectly and tired him out playing after a long drive. They offered to put him up before I got there but I was happy to have the dogs play. They went far above and beyond my expectations and the site was nice and private. There was an outlet to charge my phone and a spot for a fire and wood although I didn’t build a fire. 10/10 would recommend. I’m glad I chose this spot. They were such a sweet, kind, and generous couple.

Where to go
Mississippi’s Gulf Coast
Some of the state’s most divine camping is found along the Gulf Coast. Gulf Islands National Seashore protects over 135,000 acres of the mainland and barrier islands in Mississippi and Florida. Hike amid the sand dunes, hit the waters in a boat or kayak, go deep-sea fishing, or explore wonders under the waters. Further inland, Clark Creek Nature Area is a fascinating landscape, with 700 acres of bluffs and pines. The National Park Service’s Davis Bayou Campground can accommodate tent and RV camping within the National Seashore. Private RV parks and glamping rentals can be found in beachside towns like Ocean Springs and Biloxi. Or, venture along the coast to find Gulfport and Bay St. Louis and more.
Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail
One way to explore the state is with a drive along the NPS’s Natchez Trace Parkway. Crossing three states, the bulk of the parkway runs diagonally across Mississippi along a 444-mile route paralleling the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail. It offers a trek through time, following pathways formed by Native Americans, early European settlers, and more. The National Park Serve offers three first-come-first-served primitive campgrounds along the Natchez Trace. Campsites are free and can accommodate both tents and RVs. Plan a longer stop in Natchez, which has several private RV parks and glamping options, including Natchez State Park. This town overlooks the Mississippi River and offers a lot of character.
Northern Mississippi
Northern Mississippi is home to the state’s mountains. They may not be as high as other peaks, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t scenic. This small section of the Appalachians is home to Tishomingo State Park, an unexpected land of ferns, waterfalls, and craggy bluffs. A wooded campground offers RV sites and primitive tent camping. Two grand lakes provide recreation and scenery. Sardis Lake is a popular camping area to the west, and Bay Springs Lake is a favorite in the east. The Army Corps of Engineers operates several waterfront campgrounds.
