Beautiful natural campsites in the Valley of the Moon (Ojai Valley). Our sites are within an eighth of a mile of walking, running, biking, and riding trails from Ojai to the beaches of Ventura. On many days you can experience Ojai’s famous pink moments. You can hike the trails above Ojai, boat, eat, or picnic at Lake Casitas. Travel to nearby Ventura to shop, fish the pier, or take a deep sea fishing charter or Island charter to Whale watch or fish around the Channel Islands.
Please note the aerial view of the camping area recently placed by Hipcamp is NOT AT ALL REPRESENTATIVE of the current camping sites and shows a photo that is many years old when the site was merely land.
That photo is without any of the existing amenities or improvements. The actual sites are all Larger than Federal Park and Statepark guidelines, with averages of 20'x30' for campsites and 20'x40' for a long RVCampsite.
We have planted many young trees and continue to plant trees and native shrubs around and near the sites. We have picnic tables, table coverings, fire pits, and camping rugs/footprints. There is also an outdoor shower, a shower tent with hot water, and an upgraded porta-potty with a sink.
Note: During times when high heat is predicted, we strongly recommend that our Hipcampers bring pop-up shade tents or canopies for their sites.
The Hipcamp is adjacent to our working ranch, and any photos of old sheds, trucks, a wood lot, or other equipment are NOT on the Hipcamp, but you will drive past that property to get to the separate Hipcamp area.
Wineries, Farmer's Markets, Craft Breweries, dispensaries, and more are within 10 to 15 minutes of our site. Our location allows moments when you may see Hawks, Owls, Geese, Swallows, Robins, Bluebirds, and more.
We offer both tent and RV camping.

The Places:
The Dream Catcher is two micro trailers with a large outdoor deck space and cast iron tub in between them. One trailer is sleeping quarters with a mini kitchenette and the other trailer is a full bathroom with shower. The spaces are small and cozy. The views are epic. Overlooking the majestic Paso Robles valley with vineyards with world class views, the spacious deck is the place to be for sunset.
The Tiny House:
A Fairy tale cottage style wooden tiny home built in the 1980's with a bottle wall, full bath, and reading nook. This three story wonder will leave you inspired to step into your own story. Fully equipped with a small kitchen, queen bed, reading nook and two beautiful outdoor decks, you'll feel like you stepped into another world.
The Main Bungalow is a 1970's GEM, built by a movie industry icon with views of the valley through the stunning and huge five windows overlooking the Salinas River. Two bedrooms downstairs and two full baths, accompany a well appointed kitchen. The upstairs loft accommodates two additional semi private queen beds, and additional seating area. Sunrises from the bedrooms are rivaled by few.

Nestled on its own private 3-acre redwood and oak forest, leading down to a creek. The site is located just 4 miles (10 min drive ) from Soquel Village and just 5 miles from the beach at Capitola.
The site offers:
- A 20ft modern container home with one queen sofa bed, large screen with
Apple TV, kitchen, patio, fridge, microwave, cooktop,
shower, and toilet.
- A custom, outdoor kitchen, and bar for entertaining with gas BBQ, fridge freezer, sink with hot and cold filtered water, Sonos sound system.
- Large gas fire pit and seating area.
- One A Frame eco cabin with option for one king size day bed OR two singles, A twin mattress can also fit in the cabin when in the two singles configuration. The cabin has electricity, fan and heating for colder nights.
- One very cute retro airstream style 1950's trailer with a twin bed for a couple or one person.

- Onsite you should find all the basic amenities from home
including all bedding, towels, kitchenware, cooking utensils, dining ware, herbs and spices, cleaning products, gas for the BBQ and fire pit is included etc. There are a few things you should bring: Food, drinks,
ice and fun!
The site looks down into a private and secluded redwood and oak forest with trails for small hikes into the redwood fairy circles or all the way down to the creek.
The glamping site is on a sunny flat area surrounded by steep terrain up to a ridgeline and down to the creek. The creek is accessible although the final route requires a rope down so may not be suitable for everyone.
Within 15-20 min drive you will find almost all major attractions in the Santa Cruz area including The Mistery Spot, Nisene Marks State Forest, Capitola Pier, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, and many famous surf breaks from Capitola to The Point, The Hook, Steamer Lane and many more., as well as many amazing mountain bike trails.
There are also several Santa Cruz Mountain wineries to explore in a 3- 5 mile radius. Further afield you will find Monterey Bay Aquarium and the coastal beaches north up to San Francisco Bay ( 1 hour 30 mins north) and down to Big Sur about 1 hour 20 mins south.
We ask all our visitors to be respectful of the environment, our wildlife, and our neighbors. Please drive slowly and respect the quiet times: between 9.30 pm and 8.30 am. We check all our guests in and provide a quick tour. We can offer a number of additional amenities and services including shopping, stocking up on your favorite supplies, catering, romantic packages and special picnics on the Rainbow Ridge, and much more, so please just ask about all the possibilities.

Our town is rural but it's still close to HWY 101. We do live on the property, close enough if you need anything but far enough for privacy. We host happy hour for campers who are interested. Although the hours depend on arrival and our availability.
We have a common area between the two sites that offered a nice fire pit. Our farm has 3 goats, 2 pot bellied pigs and 20 chickens that lay fresh eggs daily. We LOVE animals but we CANNOT ALLOW PETS.
Also, sorry no tent camping. RV's only. We do not provide bathrooms or showers on site. Don’t have an RV? RENT OURS! We have everything you need for your family. Enjoy a weekend on the farm and glamp in our RV. We have all the amenities of home.
Coming to enjoy the area? The property is just a few mins off the 101 freeway on the Central Coast. We are only 15 mins South of Pismo Beach, 30 mins south of San Luis Obispo and an hour North of Santa Barbara. The beach, wineries and shopping are all very close. Or if you are looking for a quiet retreat with some super sweet farm animals stay here and enjoy the farm.

It can get seasonably cold in the Santa Cruz Mountains during the winter. If visiting in the winter, rest assured we have everything covered to enjoy your stay. We have propane heaters in all main spaces for your comfort. If the power goes out, we have a standby generator that will power up camp provided we are home to turn it on. We have a woodstoves in the Owl's Nest and Eagle's Nest. We provide a fire starter log for each woodstove for each night of your stay, and guests are responsible for bringing firewood to keep the woodstoves going for continued warmth throughout each evening.

Sunset village cabins have access to a bathhouse with designated full baths with private shower and bathroom for each cabin. Each cabin has power and one queen bed and two twin beds (max 4 ppl)
Like tent camping without the hassle of having to set up a tent.
You bring your sleeping bag, bedding and towels. Or we can provide you with a bedding/towel pack for an extra cost.

Beautiful natural campsites in the Valley of the Moon (Ojai Valley). Our sites are within an eighth of a mile of walking, running, biking, and riding trails from Ojai to the beaches of Ventura. On many days you can experience Ojai’s famous pink moments. You can hike the trails above Ojai, boat, eat, or picnic at Lake Casitas. We have planted many young trees and continue to plant trees and native shrubs around and near the sites. We have picnic tables, table coverings, fire pits, and camping rugs/footprints. There is also an outdoor shower, a shower tent with hot water, and an upgraded porta-potty with a sink.
Note: During times when high heat is predicted, we strongly recommend that our Hipcampers bring pop-up shade tents or canopies for their sites.
The Hipcamp is adjacent to our working ranch, and any photos of old sheds, trucks, a wood lot, or other equipment are NOT on the Hipcamp, but you will drive past that property to get to the separate Hipcamp area.
Wineries, Farmer's Markets, Craft Breweries, dispensaries, and more are within 10 to 15 minutes of our site. Our location allows moments when you may see Hawks, Owls, Geese, Swallows, Robins, Bluebirds, and more.

The Places:
The Dream Catcher is two micro trailers with a large outdoor deck space and cast iron tub in between them. One trailer is sleeping quarters with a mini kitchenette and the other trailer is a full bathroom with shower. The spaces are small and cozy. The views are epic. Overlooking the majestic Paso Robles valley with vineyards with world class views, the spacious deck is the place to be for sunset.
The Tiny House:
A Fairy tale cottage style wooden tiny home built in the 1980's with a bottle wall, full bath, and reading nook. This three story wonder will leave you inspired to step into your own story. Fully equipped with a small kitchen, queen bed, reading nook and two beautiful outdoor decks, you'll feel like you stepped into another world.
The Main Bungalow is a 1970's GEM, built by a movie industry icon with views of the valley through the stunning and huge five windows overlooking the Salinas River. Two bedrooms downstairs and two full baths, accompany a well appointed kitchen. The upstairs loft accommodates two additional semi private queen beds, and additional seating area. Sunrises from the bedrooms are rivaled by few.

The site looks down into a private and secluded redwood and oak forest with trails for small hikes into the redwood fairy circles or all the way down to the creek.
The glamping site is on a sunny flat area surrounded by steep terrain up to a ridgeline and down to the creek. The creek is accessible although the final route requires a rope down so may not be suitable for everyone.
Within 15-20 min drive you will find almost all major attractions in the Santa Cruz area including The Mistery Spot, Nisene Marks State Forest, Capitola Pier, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, and many famous surf breaks from Capitola to The Point, The Hook, Steamer Lane and many more., as well as many amazing mountain bike trails.
There are also several Santa Cruz Mountain wineries to explore in a 3- 5 mile radius. Further afield you will find Monterey Bay Aquarium and the coastal beaches north up to San Francisco Bay ( 1 hour 30 mins north) and down to Big Sur about 1 hour 20 mins south.
We ask all our visitors to be respectful of the environment, our wildlife, and our neighbors. Please drive slowly and respect the quiet times: between 9.30 pm and 8.30 am. Our town is rural but it's still close to HWY 101. We do live on the property, close enough if you need anything but far enough for privacy. We host happy hour for campers who are interested. Although the hours depend on arrival and our availability.
We have a common area between the two sites that offered a nice fire pit. Our farm has 3 goats, 2 pot bellied pigs and 20 chickens that lay fresh eggs daily. We LOVE animals but we CANNOT ALLOW PETS.
Also, sorry no tent camping. RV's only. We do not provide bathrooms or showers on site. Don’t have an RV? RENT OURS! We have everything you need for your family. Enjoy a weekend on the farm and glamp in our RV. We have all the amenities of home.
Coming to enjoy the area? The property is just a few mins off the 101 freeway on the Central Coast. It can get seasonably cold in the Santa Cruz Mountains during the winter. If visiting in the winter, rest assured we have everything covered to enjoy your stay. We have propane heaters in all main spaces for your comfort. If the power goes out, we have a standby generator that will power up camp provided we are home to turn it on. We have a woodstoves in the Owl's Nest and Eagle's Nest. We provide a fire starter log for each woodstove for each night of your stay, and guests are responsible for bringing firewood to keep the woodstoves going for continued warmth throughout each evening.

The Camp was started in 1925 by Mrs. Douglas as a girls camp to teach young girls the beautiful wonders of the outdoors including horseback riding, swimming, archery, and camping. She felt that boys had plenty of opportunity to explore Mother Nature but at the time, girls had no such camp to attend. This 115 acre, beautiful, rolling hills ranch has been a camp ever since and now offers camping for the young and old, girls and boys, families and singles…. You name it… a camp for everyone.

Individual Glamping sessions are available on select dates.

We highly recommend you stay for more than one day as it is difficult to take part in all activities when at the camp for only one day.

CABINS
Solstice and Sunrise cabins recently re-built cabins have one queen bed and two twin beds (max 4 ppl) and are located near a shared communal bathhouses.
Sunset village cabins have access to a bathhouse with designated full baths with private shower and bathroom for each cabin. Each cabin has power and one queen bed and two twin beds (max 4 ppl)
Like tent camping without the hassle of having to set up a tent.
You bring your sleeping bag, bedding and towels. Or we can provide you with a bedding/towel pack for an extra cost.

No individual fires. We do offer hosted campfires nightly.

Two dogs are welcome per cabin $50 per dog.

No speakers, amplification or radios.
Acoustic instruments are allowed.
RESERVATIONS
Glamping weekends may require multiple night stays.
Check-in is between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
We will send you an email prior to arrival with additional information.
Please note Hipcamp site assignments do not correspond to the actual cabin you will be assigned.
Our Camp cabin names and assignments are a little different.
If you are reserving multiple cabins please let us know so we can try and assign you near each other.
Parking is a short walk away from the Cabins.
The Camp is private property and for registered guests only.
Gate is closed 9PM-7PM.
Campers are free to come and go as these please between 7AM-PM, but all Campers must be back onsite before 9PM.

Barb was a very good host. Her communication was super prompt and clear and our booking was super smooth. Unfortunately, we had a problem with our van the night before arriving and had to cancel our stay. Again, Barb was incredibly responsive and very understanding. Had a great overnight trip to Matt’s site. Had rain in the forecast and I was able to easily add the canopy and blackstone extras to help us out. Everything was set up when we got there, extra amenities were super great. Very clear directions and communication from Matt. We loved how private the site felt while still being close to the local towns. Site is clearly described in the listing, we had room for the pop-up canopy and a four person tent for the two of us. Even with a downpour, we had no issues with anything. We’ll definitely be back!

This was our first time visiting the secret garden with my kids and wife. It has an amazing view and too many stuff to explore truly it was a secret place and my kids had a lot of fun. Open big kitchen fully equipped, clean washrooms and hot shower, fire pit area is amazing and romantic. Overall great place to visit and spent time we will definitely visit again with friends and families.
How can I forget about friendly and welcoming hosts both husband and wife were amazing. Thanks again for the hospitality:)

We had a wonderful experience staying at Free Dog Farms. The property is stunning and Sierra and Darin were communicative and friendly hosts. Really appreciated the warm welcome and informative tour Darin gave us. It's incredible what they have done with the property. The Airstream camper and site were perfect for our getaway. I had the honor and absolute pleasure of spending a night in the newly erected High Plains Lodge at Dark Star Cellars in Paso Robles, California. This is not a typical glamping tent with all the creature comforts; it’s truly a blank canvas, allowing you to make the space your own during your stay.
The two twin camp cots provided were surprisingly comfortable, and I really appreciated the simplicity and thoughtful minimalism of the setup. Outside the natural canvas tent, there are chairs and a picnic table, perfect for relaxing and taking in the gorgeous surroundings.
Future campers should plan to bring warm layers and season-appropriate bedding, as well as portable lighting such as a headlamp or flashlight; these skies are wonderfully dark. Consider removing shoes before entering the canvas lodge to protect the beautiful carpet inside; bringing slippers is a great idea.
The steep drive uphill to the lodge is absolutely worth it; my Sienna van made it up with no issues at all. And truly, the star of the show is the breathtaking 360-degree view of rolling vineyards in every direction. Bathrooms and the winery’s tasting room featuring their yummy local wines are a short walk back down the hill.
This is a very special place, and I’m incredibly grateful to have been its inaugural HipCamper. Thank you, Dark Star, for the unique experience, I’ll definitely be back!

We had the BEST TIME!
For my birthday, we booked Sites 1 & 2. Both were a great size and had electricity hookup for phone chargers, picnic tables, and running water.
We tent camped and the ground was very level for all tents.
We went with 11 girls and we felt very safe, comfortable, and ready to camp!
Ojai is a quick drive away and we went into town for a farmers market on Sunday!
The hosts were SO kind. They were very accommodating & Dave even took us out to pet the goats! The animals were awesome!!!
The property was gorgeous. It was the perfect getaway!

We had the BEST time!
We booked both Campsite 1 and Campsite 2. Both were really great. Both had an electricity hookup for a phone charger, running water, and picnic tables. We tent camped and the property was very even, perfect for a throw up tent.
Ojai is a quick drive (maybe 15 minutes) & we went to the downtown strip of Ojai for a farmers market on Sunday morning.
We celebrated my birthday with 10 girlfriends. We felt safe, comfortable, and it was the perfect getaway. Everyone fit very comfortably and we had so much fun.
The animals on the property are so sweet.
The hosts are awesome, they even let us pet their goats!!!
Thank you so much for giving us the best weekend trip ever!

I had a great site at the top of the mountain. It had beautiful views from all sides with everything that makes a good experience great. Fremont was very impressed and was so happy he was able to run free in the great outdoors. This place has to be seen and experienced by anyone who enjoys Hipcamps.
