This was our very first HipCamp experience. We had been road tripping for our pup's 11th birthday and we stayed one night. We absolutely LOVE the rustic architecture of the cabin (and the deco) and especially the garden (the pictures on the app don't do it justice). We arrived shortly after check-in time to rest under the shade of the trees/plants selection. We loved learning about the history of the cabin. We unfortunately have to point few things about this hipcamp. * The entrance of the property, even though it says in the directions to be "in front of" was hard to see from the road: no signs, no number, dirt entrance doesn't indicate it is the actually alley to take. We thought we were at a wrong address. * The rentals on the app seem to indicate 2 cabins only but there is a RV next to cabin 2 + a main house + another unit which we had no idea if they were rentals or not. * Quiet time of 10 pm was not respected by the other guests which we found out we had at 1.30 am when they came back and made loud noises (cabin 1 + RV). When you are staying for 1 night and road tripping, sleeping is important. Quiet time is indicated on a sheet of paper in the kitchenette only, which people might not read. * Cabin is located next to a major road that gives you access to downtown easily but that means you hear traffic. * A pet fee is also requested to be left in the cabin prior to your departure but not indicated on the app. We understand for long stay but not for one night.

Cute stay, just a few notes!

We stayed here for a wedding in Santa Barbara. While it was a bit of a drive to both Santa Barbara and Solvang, it gave us the chance to explore both, and Solvang was so cute! The host was very kind to let us check in a couple hours early, and communication was quick before our stay. I texted her w/ questions after arriving that I never heard back about, but otherwise we had no issues with the host + enjoyed the privacy. A few things I wish I had known beforehand, mainly to help set expectations: * The yard/grass area was confusing. It’s featured in many of the photos, so we assumed it would be a shared hangout space, especially since the bunkhouse itself is small. However, the welcome information says the grass area, chaise lounges, trampoline, etc. are private. The shared area with string lights was farther across the lawn + close to the other cottages, so we didn’t want to intrude. This left the outdoor table as essentially our only shared outdoor space. * There is no light in the bathroom. * The bed does not convert into a king; it is two separate twin beds. This was a little disappointing for a couple, but it was totally manageable for our short stay. * There was a very strong fake eucalyptus smell in the cottage. I just wanted to mention it because it was quite noticeable during our stay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay + appreciated the host’s flexibility. I just wanted to share these things as a heads-up for future guests so they know what to expect!

Not sure I would recommend this pad

We parked in a driveway that did not feel like a campsite at all. We had to park there because the “campsite” was blocked by a big truck. They actually acknowledged that but asked us to move at 8:30 pm and we were out viewing a concert and did not get the message until the following morning as we were packing up. I’m not sure I would recommend this place for camping in any case. The cottages look fine but not the camping area right next to a very busy highway.

I was excited to book the Bunkhouse, and I've stayed in the area several times. I had a bad feeling as soon as I came in. The instructions said I needed to park in the Hammerhead spot and I wasn't clear what that meant. I parked in a spot that was empty and sidled alongside an RV. I felt like I was in their space. I had to cross through the grass and felt I was in the wrong place because the grass had been watered and was marshy. I sank down and was worried someone would come out to help or chastise me. I felt very unwelcome and when I saw all the areas that were marked private, it was very awkward. It seems if I wanted to enjoy the beautiful space, I would have to sit outside near the other renters and that would be very uncomfortable. I stayed about ten minutes and Jesus just told me to run. Just really bad energy for me.

Beautiful Creekside Bunk House

Lisa’s land is stunning!! The history shared was interesting. The Creekside Bunk House was elegantly decorated with lush carpets, beautiful lamps, stylish bedding and even a retro refridge and freezer. 100% recommend!

Cozy Sweet Stay

Very cozy cabin named the "Washroom" .. has everything you need for a solo getaway. Went with bestie and it was almost too tight but we're used to roughing it. We had a great time.

We loved staying in Lisa's cozy, charmning cabin. We really appreciated the note regarding the history of the land and cabin left on the wall. The cabine had a great amount of amenities, includes a towel warmer, robes, French press and a filtered picture of water. The fireplace was easy to use and worked very well. The shared outside space was serene, with a working water feature and plenty of seating.

Not the best experience

Host never checked in on us. Fireplace was advertised but the lighter didn’t work. We tried to open a window but it was broken. A very strong decaying smell lasted the entire time. Advertised that coffee was provided but missing filters, cream and sugar. Areas shown on the ad are off limits. Host house is a few feet away. They were very loud at 3:30am.

Although the property is lovely when you walk back to explore, for us it was not great as a camper spot because of the road noise and the lack of a plug in port, which is what was advertised. Also there was a dog barking at us for 15 minutes while we were attempting to sleep.

A sign, street side near the driveway entrance containing the address and/or "Hipcamp". The buildings are set back quite a bit, 50' or so, so unless one drives down the driveway one doesn't know where one is. Also, a sign on the property with a site # or name as we really didn't know where to park our van. Bring clarity to where guests can or cannot go on the property. The property is mostly beautiful and charming but then there's sorts of junk laying around in certain areas of the property, kind of spoils things,

The bunkhouse worked for what I needed - a base camp to go day hiking in Gaviota and Cachuma and visit one my kids up at CalPoly. My experience is definitely already reflected in other guests' comments and Lisa's responses. The bunkhouse was cool - rustic but clean and cozy. All of the photos in the listing show the beautiful yard, but there are no chairs or any outdoor areas near the bunkhouse that a guest can use. Everything has "private" signs, except the table and fire pit 50 or 60 feet away, which then feels like an infringement on the privacy of guests staying over there in those cottages. Lisa did ask me beforehand if the bunkhouse might possibly not be the right accommodation for me, and I assured her that I was grateful to have it. I still feel that way, although some place to sit outside would be nice as the bunkhouse is small and the outdoors is the reason to be there.

Lovely spot lots to do close by

The spot was really really nice and comfortable very affordable and perfect for me my gf and our dog. Only thing was it got pretty cold at night and the heater by the bed didn’t really work. The walls are also a bit thin noise wise but other than that it was absolutely beautiful, we had such a blast and the cabin has a cozy western vibe we were super close to solvang and the beach. Would love to return and visit again !

I absolutely loved staying in the cabin. Booked last minute and everything was clean and ready upon arrival. The cabin is 'rustic' meaning not fully insulated from weather and sound but it comes equipped w heaters, ac and even a noise machine to block out outside sound. Bed was comfortable with plenty of extra blankets for the chilly nights and fans to use during the warmer daytime. The only hiccup I had was that the wifi was not working and it was in a dead zone for my cell. Host was immediately responsive but I was never able to get the wifi to work. Town is less then 5 minutes away so I decided to just go without during most of my stay but if this is a deal breaker for you its good to know. Overall its a delightful alternative to pricey hotels in the area or to camping w less amenities and we will definitely be back again next time we are in the area.

I really love the little bunk house...this was my second time staying there. It is very convenient to Los Olivos village and quiet...It really is best for just one person unless you are a couple that are used to camping and being very close.

Comfy & Cozy

It's a really charming little cottage with a comfy single bed with a trundle. Loved the decor with an deer antler rack hanging on the wall, cow hide table covering and lovely lamps, etc. It's rustic for sure but was a great very affordable option right around the corner from the amazing Bob's Well Bread.
