We designed this property because we love to create inspirational spaces dedicated to nature and art. We brought together a huge community to create beautiful buildings using materials that you can find around you such as pallets, clay, sands, straws, etc. Everything is made out of non toxic materials, we even made our own paint out of cooking flours!
Being inside these cob buildings feels like being in the womb of Mother Earth: the scent, the calm, the grounding, etc. The woods come from one of our properties and we milled them ourselves. We upcycle almost everything: The tree barks, the branches, even the furnitures were secured from non-profit organizations. We'd like you to come to be inspired! One of the buildings is there as a demonstration site till its done and we'll have the cob builder to be there to show you around. Cob working party is held by a master cob builder.
We made your Camping and Glamping experience easy. We provide clean showers, restrooms, toilet paper, paper towels, barbecue, fridge, freezer, popcorn kettles, , utensils, plates, bowls, mugs, coffee maker, pots and pans, cutleries, etc. Yes, there is hot water as well with no coins needed.
The campground is located in a serene oak grove area of the property. Its a peaceful getaway with an abundance of bird varieties and occasional wild turkeys passing through. Take a stroll around our 5-acre property and catch a breathtaking sunset from the hillside.
The amenities are: Outdoor kitchen, 2 fire pits, outdoor showers and bathrooms, electricity in each cobin, Board games, Yard Games, dog park and an outdoor library for little ones to grown ups. In Winter 2026 we'll add sauna and outdoor tubs for warm winter experience.
Your parking spot is within a very short walking distance and there are wagons for you to use to haul your belongings to your camp site.

In July, you can enjoy outdoor activities like hiking in Henry Cowell Redwoods, walking along West Cliff Drive, and visiting Natural Bridges State Beach. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is open year-round, offering a chance to experience it with fewer crowds and more deals. You can also visit local attractions like the Mystery Spot, the Santa Cruz Wharf, and the Seymour Marine Discovery Center.

Expect a warm greeting upon arrival. Parking is close to our Vega Vortex sign and a short walk to your tent. Filtered potable water, electricity, composting toilet, and shower with "on demand" hot/cold water are available. Instructions for use are available should you need assistance.
Experience 3 campsites: BYOT (Bring Your Own Tent) Tent Site (#1) 10'x10', BYOT (Bring Your Own Tent) Site (#2) 8'x8' or an onsite Bell tent complete with carpeted padded flooring, camp lights, shelving, 2 bed frames each with a memory foam mattress plus bedding.
All sites have shaded areas, and picnic tables. *A shower and a compost toilet are available for use to all campers.
Enjoy a designated smoking/vaping spot, multiple benches, swings, a "grounding" spot, birding, water fountains and art.
A no noise policy by the county occurs at 9 pm. Due to a high risk fire zone, no open fires (small camp stoves are ok). Due to the proximity of the tents right next to Vega Rd, sounds from vehicles can be heard. We are situated in a rural neighborhood setting, with sounds of sheep, goats, chickens, wild turkeys, dogs and many birds nestled between both counties. The terrain is hilly with a few gopher holes. Staying on paths limits poison oak exposure. While respecting your privacy, we can be seen improving the property.
***For precautionary measures, we ask that you sign our waiver immediately after you book your reservation. The waiver is "REQUIRED" for you to be able to stay here at the Vega Vortex.
Vega Vortex has been called a Park and Machu Picchu due to the amphitheater landscaping of terracing. Practicing permaculture, a diversity of pollinating plants/ flowers, organic garden and art features exist. Minutes away from National Parks, the Mystery Spot, Santa Cruz Beach Board Walk, Roaring Camp Train, Monterey Bay Aquarium, National Steinbeck Center, Moss Landing, Elkhorn Slough/Canoe/Kayak, Estuaries (bird watching), golfing and multiple beaches.

Hello all! If you're looking for some glamping with creature comforts, while just being 10 minutes away from restaurants. This is the place for you. We are a 5 acre property and home surrounded by tall redwood and oak trees. Very green and lots of shade. These are the amenities/facilities you will have free access to: Pool, Pool chairs and umbrellas, Deck area with sunset view, trampolines (kids only), and hammocks.
Our check in window is strict: 3-6pm. Only later check in is allowed if discussed previously with host.
There is no cooking allowed by or at any of the common areas due to flies and critters. Cooking and eating is only allowed by your sites and not in any common areas: Hammocks, Trampolines, Pool Area, tables, sink, and deck please follow this rule because we want to prevent our shared areas to be fly and bug infested. We are still working on ridding the flies and cleaning. (please try to bring prepackaged food or something easy. If anything you can drive 10 minutes to nearby food and grocery).
THERE IS A 2-3 MINUTE HIKE TO THE CAMPSITES 1-5!
Poolside campsites are closer to the parking and are bigger.
This property is my home that I live in with my 2 kids. It is a rustic and homey vibe, definitely not a hotel. We want you to come knowing what to expect. Our property offers a pool and trampolines for the kids. We have a deck patio area that overlooks an amazing view of the redwood forest. Most of our guests are those that come from foreign countries and they all LOVE the property. I love leaving a great impression of our area.

Welcome to your magical slice of Santa Cruz mountain paradise! Nestled right against the whispering waters of Fall Creek, our newly outfitted Tiny Home offers the ultimate blend of cozy rustic charm and modern convenience.
Set within a fully fenced, zen-like sanctuary, our tiny home is snuggly situated in the front yard of our main home. While you'll have plenty of privacy from the quiet street, you’ll share this sunny, tree-filtered front yard with our friendly family of four, our adorably elder dog named G, and our delightful crew of egg-laying hens across the yard!
The Space & Amenities
Your Cozy Retreat: A thoughtfully designed, comfortable tiny home perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. A bathroom with shower, Kitchen with the essentials (a fridge, stove, dishes, pots and pans, mugs etc. - no oven nor freezer). Bedroom with full-size bed and small dresser.
The Creekside Sauna (Add-On): Our property backs right up to Fall Creek, and we invite you to elevate your stay with our creekside sauna experience. Imagine a deep sweat surrounded by ancient redwoods and the sound of rushing water!
Feathered Neighbors: Wake up to the gentle clucks of our happy hens and the serene canopy of the redwoods overhead.

Hike: Just a few minutes' walk to the crown jewel of our county's parks—the lush, trail-filled Fall Creek Unit of Henry Cowell State Park. Plus very close to loads of trails in the main unit of Henry Cowel and other SCM spots.
Town: A scenic 20-minute walk (or 5-minute drive) brings you straight to downtown Felton. Catch a live show at the renowned Felton Music Hall, grab a coffee and pastry at The Grove, shop organic treats at Wild Roots, or stock up at Safeway and CVS.
Surf & Sand: Craving the ocean? You are only a 25-minute drive from the world-class surf and sandy beaches of Santa Cruz (Pleasure Point, Steamer Lane, Capitola Beach - something for all levels!)

This is Glamping at its best! We have two cabins that have kitchens with mini frig, microwaves and sinks. Complimentary coffee and tea as well. Very comfortable queen beds. Each cabin has a living room and table area along with gas fireplaces inside and A/C. Outdoor courtyard area with firepit, picnic tables and string lights to enjoy the days or evenings.
Each cabin sleeps two but both can be rented to sleep four. Both cabins are historic to the area.
All of this is in the center of the Santa Ynez valley close to Los Olivos , Santa Ynez and Solvang.
Wine tasting, bike riding and hiking. Great restaurants and wineries within walking distance.

Our yurt and treehouse are located on Lago Lomita Vineyards with a view of the entire Monterey Bay. We've been hosting guests since 2015 and are looking forward to meeting you!
Both our treehouse and yurt listings are unique experiences. They both are adjacent to the Tierra Madre Vineyard Block and have awesome views of the entire Monterey Bay/Pacific Ocean. We are located on 44 acres high atop the Santa Cruz Mountains but close to all the major beaches and Silicon Valley. Please be aware this is camping in nature, along with squirrels, spiders, falling leaves, etc. and nature is not always for everyone. There is a 45ft. ladder to climb to get into the treehouse. The view at sunset is spectacular.
Featured on the first page of top Glamping destinations in California, in National Geographic's 50 States, 500 campgrounds.

We acquired the property in 1991, shortly after the Lexington Fire (1985) and Loma Prieta earthquake (1989). At that time, the entire property has degenerated into disrepair, and all the vineyards had been overwhelmed by the wilderness.
In 2011, we started the herculean effort of clearing away the wilderness, resurrecting all the vineyards and renovating our home. In 2014, we started replanting the vineyards, and opened our tree house to visitors in 2015.
Just like us, I think you will fall in love with this property, and enjoy every minute of your time here.

This beautiful yurt village is a hidden gem is the Santa Cruz Mountains and a perfect spot for families looking to get away from the Silicon Valley hussle. The yurts are so well stocked and taken care of, you almost forget your living simple.
Our host was extremely responsive to our needs and did a great job welcoming us. We can’t wait to keep rebooking this site for future weekend get a ways.

Such a wonderful and tranquil experience from the views to the environment with nature itself not to mention the hospitality from the hosts Vanessa and Ludo (Thank you both for welcoming me with open arms and giving me the opportunity to enjoy what you two have put together) , now if you need a getaway to remember with your significant other or are just looking to get away to unwind and relax this is definitely the place to be for many reasons…BOOK ASAP! 1 night at The Hobbit Hideout
Loved glamping on the land. The cobbins were so cute and the communal kitchen was very nice. We played games, ate snacks and drank wine by the firepit and really enjoyed relaxing! The bed was comfortable and it was so nice waking up to the view through the roof window!
The baby donkeys were just too cute!!

Weekend Trip to Santa Cruz Mountain Camping
We loved our stay at Shelley’s hip campsite. The tent was very nice and the provided blankets kept us warm all night. We got provisions at the Summit Store (great sandwiches). We didn’t bring anything to cook and it was totally fine. The best part was hearing and seeing all of the animals. We saw wild turkeys and a deer in the morning. The bathroom was rustic but adequate. I don’t know if there are shower facilities but we didn’t need it. Shelly was great with communication and the directions were so helpful.

Weekend Trip to Santa Cruz Mountain Camping
For the price it’s definitely worth it! It’s at a perfect location to explore around, for example I went to the pumpkin patch nearby, the summit store, and even got to explore Scott’s Valley! San Jose was not a far drive either. I definitely recommend going to the hiking trails nearby because it’s such a beautiful area. This is not like full blown camping but more for the vibes. It was a nice stay to come back to at the end of the day. The night was definitely freezing, however there are plenty of heavy blankets to keep you warm. The toilet is not far at all and very private. The place is located in a neighborhood so it made the night feel more safe (I’m a wuss lol). There are beautiful views of the mountains also; the morning felt surreal. And yes there are turkeys!! So cute!!

It was such a fun and relaxing experience. We mimicked our neighbors in sipping evening drinks (tea for us) and listening to the Hobbit feeling the full ambiance of coastal California and Tolkien. The outdoor common kitchen was like nothing I had experienced in camping.

Our first stay was with a bigger group and we stayed at the bear den . With. Smaller group this time, we stayed in bear hollow. It was a cozier setting.

I had a delightful stay, spending my time knitting down by the creek, reading in the hammock, and hiking through redwood forest nearby. Melissa’s place was well-stocked and super cozy, and she was a great host. My stay felt private while Melissa felt accessible. I highly recommend for a restorative weekend!

Weekend Trip to Freedog Farms @ Cactus Flower Ranch
Free Dog Farms was a great place to stay. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The location is close to hiking and the beach and a great stop if you are driving up or down the coast.
We stayed in the green and white vintage trailer. It was super cute and cozy. The mattress was a little thin for me, but I'm picky about mattresses so I bring a travel mattress topper, which made it ok.
Be aware that there is no water in the camping areas (except non potable water to wash your hands by the port potties). This is not a huge deal if you are used to dry camping, but definitely read the camping info so you are prepared. The owners let us refill our water bottles from the water by the barn since we used up more than we expected hiking!
We would stay here again.

Mathilda is a patient, communicative host and it was a joy working with her while planning our birthday weekend at Double Bear!
The road to the property is hard to navigate at times, but everyone was able to make it safely with the provided instructions and signs (and some help from Mathilda herself if they missed the last turn and you ended up at her house).
The property itself was lovely. We spent a lot of time in the kitchen yurt prepping food, eating, and playing games. All of the yurts are so spacious! Mathilda and her team seem to be doing a great job taking care of the yurts. We didn't have any complaints.
Two showers and two toilets was a bit difficult to share between 12-13 people, but we made it work! It would feel pretty tight to share with strangers, I think, but it felt fun and like a dorm hall experience to share with friends :)

We enjoyed our time on the farm so much. The trailer was super cozy. A highlight was picking out fresh veggies from the farm stand in the morning and making ourselves a delicious farm to table scramble in the morning. The canyon that this property is is truly magical.
