2 nights at Harmony's Glamping

Harmony's Glamping is a MUST VISIT! We stayed in the Hermit Dome and were stunned by how peaceful and serene our entire stay us. From the sounds of the babbling brook below, to the incredible outdoor shower... you'll feel like you're in your private piece of paradise. Definitely remember to bring all your own kitchen items (pots, pans, cutlery...) but besides that - Harmony leaves so many perfect little touches that were very appreciated! We hope to come back soon!

What a dreamy little place! It was everything I thought it would be and more. The dome is so cool. I thought it was a bit pricey until we got to the waterfall. We were lucky enough to have it to ourselves that day. It felt like a scene out of a movie! The water was beautiful and there were some lounge chairs and floaties that made it even better. The well water used for drinking, the sinks, the outdoor shower and hot tub was great! I know the hot tub add on is pricey as well, but I would definitely recommend! It was really romantic and a very unique experience that I’ve never seen anywhere else. The campsite itself was nicer than I thought it would be! There was a fun little tire swing, a ping pong table, corn hole and more. My boyfriend and I had a blast! We stayed in the hermit dome, which is definitely the most romantic and secluded of the sites. It’s up on a hill and hidden behind a boulder, as opposed to the other sites which are a bit closer to each other. If you’re going for romance, go for the hermit dome! Couldn’t recommend it here enough, and Harmony was such a sweetheart! We couldn’t figure out the shower, and she came down to help us with it. I will 100% be coming back this summer with my girlies. This is a really special place!! We brought our dog and she loved it too. The waterfall hike isn’t super difficult, it’s just a lot of bouldering up the creek. We had to help our dog at a couple points on the way, but coming back she was a pro and raced through.

Weekend Trip to Vintage 1948 Airstream trailer

Charles communicates clearly on the app. The spot is sweet and comfortable. We loved sitting on the patio in the sun, listening to the birds. The separate bathroom and sink were easy and close. I would stay here again anytime.

Weekend Trip to Gaia Farm Campground

My friends and I had an amazing time at Gaia farm! The view was incredible and the yurt had everything you would need. We stayed just one night and had a great time grilling and enjoying the view. Would come again!

2 nights at Harmony's Glamping

The place is very beautiful and peaceful. Harmony was kind and offered us an upgrade to the fairy dome, so this is a review for that site. Everything was clean and lovely to stay in and had a very comfortable bed and extra pillows. It was great having the shower outside in nature and being right next to the creek allowed us to fall asleep to serene running water. The drive down to the site is definitely one to prepare for with 4WD- seriously, don’t risk it with an oversized vehicle or only 2WD. The only downside would be that the portables were not cleaned after the weekend (we arrived Monday and stayed until Wednesday) and they were full and unbearably smelly to use. Would’ve been nice if they were emptied to not dread going into them to use the bathroom. Other than that, a great experience.

1 night at Cuyama Oaks Ranch

Nathan’s campsite had everything we needed. Everything was well maintained and clean. The beds were so comfortable. There were warm blankets provided so we didn’t get cold at night. We were able to take showers and wash our hands. The compost toilet was easy to use. It’s was so nice to sit under the stars. We stayed with our toddler, dog and cat. We did have to look out for rattlesnakes but luckily didn’t see any. Our toddler enjoyed seeing the farm animals. We had a great relaxing stay. We will definitely be back!

Such an awesome spot! Tucked away in a safe and quiet neighborhood, yet within 30 minutes to everywhere we wanted to go. Cozy outdoor space and super fun inside layout/decor. Highly recommend!

Beautiful place, really well equipped - they really have thought of everything. Really off the beaten path - expect a drive through amazing scenery to get there. Worth stopping for a few photos on the way. If you can drag yourself out of bed, an amazing sunrise. The pigs were fab and loved cuddles in the morning. 🐷

This was my ideal camping experience and I definitely hope to come again! The creekside fairy dome was so beautiful and waking up next to the creek was so nice. It was very private and although the waterfall trail was difficult it was so worth it!

Weekend Trip to Harmony's Glamping

Harmony’s place is an absolute treasure. It’s a quiet, natural sanctuary for real rest and commune with the land. We had the most wonderful time exploring the river and waterfall with our dog and spending early nights cooking and hanging at the Hermit Dome. Nothing beats a good outdoor shower either. It’s not hyperbole when I say I’d like to die here.

We came here for a little secret getaway and we are so glad we chose this place instead of staying more in town near Santa Barbara. Great hiking trails around, rich history of the land. Our host Shirley & Matt are incredibly kind and helpful. Thanks again!

Weekend Trip to Harmony's Glamping

Harmony’s Glamping made everything so amazing and beautiful. I would definitely come again. From little touches like back up instant coffee, towels, shower soaps to the main camping area with activities like ping pong and cornhole, this is glamping at its finest. I wouldn’t be deterred by some of the previous reviews about the road coming in. I drove down and up the one way road just fine with a Tesla Y model. But, I would not recommend it if it’s raining or you’re planning to come at night. I highly recommend the Waterfall activity. If you are a hiker, you’ll have no problems. I didn’t even get wet. I just followed where Harmony stepped, and it was so much fun. The wood burning hot tub was absolutely wonderful, especially after a hike and the weather being a little chilly. The yurt was beautiful, beautifully furnished, and little touches like light strings made it feel like I was with the fairies at night. The creek was so peaceful, and relaxing next to it with the propane fire pit was awesome. AND, not to forget the bed. I like it firm so the bed was the best bed I’ve slept on to hotel standards. I can’t say enough about the stay. It was spectacular! Definitely will want to come back with the family!

This was an awesome experience. The Cabin was wonderful and the environment was a great escape from everything. Almost everything you need is provided to be comfortable at night. This is something I will love to visit again in the future.

Weekend Trip to Malibu Creek Orchard Retreat

A hidden-away gem. What a fun campsite! The vintage Airstresm trailer is in amazing shape. Decorated and arranged beautifully. Fabian put everything together so nicely. A bowl of fresh rosemary and lemons from their orchard on the table when we arrived. Coffee and cream packs in the fridge. Firewood and kindling and cooking utensils for the BBQ. Lovely little touches everywhere. Thr amenities are amazing. Full power in the trailer and a bathroom with instant hot water. A smart space heater for the chilly evenings and Alexa to play music and turn on the outside string and accent lights made for a really great nighttime camp experience. There is a hiking loop that is private to the site and takes you up into the hills with a bench at the top to watch the sunset it was gorgeous! Overall we can't wait to go back. There is a cabin you can also rent for larger groups they are renovating currently, when they is done, a larger group of friends would make this an incredible site for a getaway weekend. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Cuyama Badlands

We had a wonderful stay at SongDog Ranch. Pupdog Hill is the perfect spot to cozy up and watch a storm roll by or enjoy a star filled sky and warm campfire. We'll be back!

1 night at Gaia Farm Campground

Nestled in the mid-range of the Santa Ynez mountains, Amanda and her family’s land provides incredible views of the expansive lower range and the coast when looking forward and down, and the comforting upper range when looking up and behind. The pictures simply don’t so it justice. It truly does feel like you’re up in the sky… maybe because you are! We stayed in the Sky Yurt, situated about a quarter mile away from their family’s home. It feels private but safe knowing that they are nearby if anything were to happen. The yurt itself is quite cozy. It was very, very windy at night, but inside the yurt, there was nothing to worry about. The walls are sturdy and insulated. It is quite spacious with plenty of room and a battery-powered lamp for activities and games. Our recommendation is to bring a lantern or two if you need more light to read or draw or play games. There is a propane camping stove for cooking, and Amanda generously provides pots, pans, dishes, and silverware. There is also a stovetop espresso maker and mugs for coffee in the morning. If you want to keep perishable food cold, we also recommend you bring a cooler. Amanda and her family are fantastic hosts that serve to inspire those who stay at this wonderful farm. It would be such a pleasant, joyous life if we were one day able to buy a property like this one and live with our family — a refreshing visualization of the good times that could lie ahead. Great way to spend my 25th birthday!

That being said, and to maintain the balance here at home, we'd appreciate if you keep your dogs in your car until you get to your site. You'll find our amenities and activities puposefully sparse here. Upon booking, there are about 5 miles of dirt road on the property that you are welcome to explore on foot or by bicycle. Rustic is the theme here. There is no shower, no wifi, and no electricity available, but you will enjoy your own private spigot and the cellular service is acceptable. For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away. Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. Blue Sky Center

1948- On January 1, 1948 a wildcatter named George Hadley, who had been oil prospecting in the valley for 10 years, made the first oil strike in the Cuyama Valley. Richfield Oil Company soon moved in and extracted nearly 300 million barrels of oil in just a few short years. To accommodate an exploding workforce in the early 1950s, the company built the town of New Cuyama, its infrastructure, public buildings, the Cuyama airstrip (L88) and all the industrial structures that are now home to Blue Sky. Richfield Oil Company, later merging with Atlantic Oil Company forming the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company (ARCO), created high-paying jobs, a safe and prosperous community, and developed schools, churches, and recreational areas for the employee-residents.1973- With dwindling production in the area and new discoveries in Alaska, Atlantic-Richfield Oil Company put the town of New Cuyama and its associated infrastructure up for sale. Word of an entire town for sale made its way to entrepreneur, Russell O’Quinn of the Foundation for Airborne Relief (FAR) and Mildred Dotson, a wealthy widow from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The two worked together to acquire the townsite and adjacent land. O’Quinn, an aviator, inventor, and test pilot, aspired to use the New Cuyama airstrip and facilities as a base for humanitarian relief and a non-profit trade school. Though not fully realized, FAR’s primary vision included utilizing converted military aircraft to airlift food and medical supplies to developing countries and global disaster areas. Dotson had loftier goals. Her plans included an 18-hole fly-in golf course, expansion of the Buckhorn Restaurant and Motel, and a 40- to 50-acre lake for amphibious landing and water sports. 1986- Another visionary, Harry Kislevitz, inventor of the popular design tool Colorforms® and founder of Future City/Villages International, sought to develop the site as a “City of Friendship,” an all-electric village of 5,000 earthen homes. The dwellings were to be designed by Nader Khalili, an Iranian-born architect who specialized in earthen structures, worked with NASA on prototypes for lunar homes and received an award from the United Nations for his work towards the development of low cost, sustainable structures for human shelter in impoverished and disaster prone environments. One 628-sq-ft Khalili prototype remains on the property today ("the Cantina"). Khalili went on to form the California Institute for Earth Art and Architecture, Cal-Earth, in Hesperia, CA.1993- Recognizing the transformative potential of clean, solar power and the attractiveness of a rural destination, entrepreneur Mike Nolan worked to develop the Solar Skypark and Big Sky Guest Ranch with Santa Barbara Architect, Barry Berkus. The Sky Park included plans for sixty-five fly-in residences on one-acre lots powered completely from clean, solar energy. The Big Sky Guest Ranch was intended to function as a clubhouse for Skypark residents complete with an equestrian center, a small subsistence farm, pool and plenty of enriching recreational activities. 2012- At the end of 2011, the Zannon Family Foundation made a long-term investment in acquiring the New Cuyama Airport property with the vision of rehabilitating the site to be a low-cost resource for programs and organizations working to advance sustainable living practices and technologies. Plans began soon after towards developing a framework and organization to develop the space and coordinate with prospective programs and institutions. In 2014 Blue Sky Sustainable Living Center ("Blue Sky Center") received 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status, endeavoring to reclaim this property for the public good. Today, Blue Sky Center provides unduplicated services and technical assistance to support small businesses and entrepreneurs as well as the local food system, with core work focused on community research and advocacy led by Cuyamans. Upper and lower decks offer lovely views of Mt. Pinos and the San Emigdio range. Relax on the sunny decks or in the Adirondack chair near the pond surrounded by pine trees. Plan to do some bbqing--it is so pleasant to do some grilling on the upper deck bbq and dine outdoors. Our cabin is clean and well-kept. It can comfortably accommodate 4 people. Please NO smoking or pets! Mt. Pinos has the best view of the stars in So. California—star parties are common whenever there is a new moon. Rustic is the theme here. There is no shower, no wifi, and no electricity available, but you will enjoy your own private spigot and the cellular service is acceptable. For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away. Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. These UPPER SITES are NOT OHV friendly, but any of our canyon bottom sites are a great base for your riding adventures up in Ballinger Canyon OHV. We'll be happy to recommend a site for you. **Forest Service law enforcement is actively ticketing unplated OHV on Ballinger Canyon Road. Be sure to know and abide by the laws.** Our friendly cancellation policies vary between 24 hours for simple campsites and 72 hours for our Glamp sites and Group sites. Blue Sky Center

1948- On January 1, 1948 a wildcatter named George Hadley, who had been oil prospecting in the valley for 10 years, made the first oil strike in the Cuyama Valley. Richfield Oil Company soon moved in and extracted nearly 300 million barrels of oil in just a few short years. To accommodate an exploding workforce in the early 1950s, the company built the town of New Cuyama, its infrastructure, public buildings, the Cuyama airstrip (L88) and all the industrial structures that are now home to Blue Sky. Richfield Oil Company, later merging with Atlantic Oil Company forming the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company (ARCO), created high-paying jobs, a safe and prosperous community, and developed schools, churches, and recreational areas for the employee-residents.1973- With dwindling production in the area and new discoveries in Alaska, Atlantic-Richfield Oil Company put the town of New Cuyama and its associated infrastructure up for sale. Word of an entire town for sale made its way to entrepreneur, Russell O’Quinn of the Foundation for Airborne Relief (FAR) and Mildred Dotson, a wealthy widow from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The two worked together to acquire the townsite and adjacent land. O’Quinn, an aviator, inventor, and test pilot, aspired to use the New Cuyama airstrip and facilities as a base for humanitarian relief and a non-profit trade school. Though not fully realized, FAR’s primary vision included utilizing converted military aircraft to airlift food and medical supplies to developing countries and global disaster areas. Dotson had loftier goals. Her plans included an 18-hole fly-in golf course, expansion of the Buckhorn Restaurant and Motel, and a 40- to 50-acre lake for amphibious landing and water sports. 1986- Another visionary, Harry Kislevitz, inventor of the popular design tool Colorforms® and founder of Future City/Villages International, sought to develop the site as a “City of Friendship,” an all-electric village of 5,000 earthen homes. The dwellings were to be designed by Nader Khalili, an Iranian-born architect who specialized in earthen structures, worked with NASA on prototypes for lunar homes and received an award from the United Nations for his work towards the development of low cost, sustainable structures for human shelter in impoverished and disaster prone environments. One 628-sq-ft Khalili prototype remains on the property today ("the Cantina"). Khalili went on to form the California Institute for Earth Art and Architecture, Cal-Earth, in Hesperia, CA.1993- Recognizing the transformative potential of clean, solar power and the attractiveness of a rural destination, entrepreneur Mike Nolan worked to develop the Solar Skypark and Big Sky Guest Ranch with Santa Barbara Architect, Barry Berkus. The Sky Park included plans for sixty-five fly-in residences on one-acre lots powered completely from clean, solar energy. The Big Sky Guest Ranch was intended to function as a clubhouse for Skypark residents complete with an equestrian center, a small subsistence farm, pool and plenty of enriching recreational activities. 2012- At the end of 2011, the Zannon Family Foundation made a long-term investment in acquiring the New Cuyama Airport property with the vision of rehabilitating the site to be a low-cost resource for programs and organizations working to advance sustainable living practices and technologies. Plans began soon after towards developing a framework and organization to develop the space and coordinate with prospective programs and institutions. In 2014 Blue Sky Sustainable Living Center ("Blue Sky Center") received 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status, endeavoring to reclaim this property for the public good. Today, Blue Sky Center provides unduplicated services and technical assistance to support small businesses and entrepreneurs as well as the local food system, with core work focused on community research and advocacy led by Cuyamans.
