Holcomb Valley Ranch invites you to kick back and relax on our private, 400+ acre ranch in the San Bernardino Mountains. Centered around a 100+ acre meadow, filled with horses in summer months and surrounded by thousands of acres of mountainous National Forest.
Just 15 minutes from Big Bear Lake - a large recreational, fresh-water lake for summer swimming, boating, skiing, fishing and other super fun water activities.
The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails.
Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s).
The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents.
From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails.
After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow.
The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance.

Please note:
OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes.
Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Please do not approach, interact, feed or touch the horses. This is for your safety and the safety of the horses. Do, however, take lots of photos! They make a perfect backdrop:)

We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork Cosumnes river. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe!
In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

Camping here is low activity experience as in there is hiking up in the National Forest or just hanging out in your camp site, or bring your camera, notebook and binoculars, or road bike.
When you come to camp here you are on a farm in transition. Girlfarm has been a local food go to for restaurants, farm family members, and regenerative agriculture interests. Today, the farm is looking forward to a new course in agri tourism as we begin planning walking gardens, art installations in the landscape, and interactive classes.

River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public.
Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). Thank you.
Enjoy: The Kitchen has a 3-burner cooktop, large fridge, microwave, full dishes and utensils and pots and pans with a big washing area in the back. Propane barbecue grill.. There's a River Barn to use as a remote space and Turtle Cove for swimming. Saturday morning Farmer's Market in downtown at 9 AM - Noon.
Ancestral land of the Foothill Yokuts tribe. Homesteaded in 1859, owned by the Negus family from 1909-2000. Barbara and I bought it to save it from subdivision and it's now protected by a Conservation Easement and acts as a community center for the arts, music, poetry, gatherings and outdoor education. We're both biologists, so, just ask us.

It’s important to us that our guests don’t feel they are renting a tent/RV site or a camper as much as they’re immersing themselves into the outdoor experience. You may just want to sit outside and read for days, enjoy campfires and eat s'mores. For more adventurous, there's a full slate of self-guided recreational activities, such as hiking, kayaking, fishing, ATVing, rock climbing, biking, natural water slides, stand up paddle boards, bird watching, available in the area. We do have modern conveniences such as wifi internet; however, we encourage our guests to “unplug” and immerse in the slow paced life instead.
At Paradise Shores, we believe in protecting people, animals and the planet. We make sure that the majority of products we use at our camp is recycled, composted, or re-used. We prefer to use products that are produced in a sustainable way and avoid those that aren't.
We are continuously reducing the amount of waste we generate and actively promote recycling of aluminum, plastic, glass, and cardboard. We pack our own recycling and haul it to the nearest recycling facility which is an hour away. We co-opt the drive with other activities to reduce waste. We don’t use individually packaged toiletries or one-use products. We use plant and planet friendly detergent.
We're based in a desert. We share our precious water with the entire planet. With only 326 million cubic miles of water on the earth, the decreasing amounts of access to quality fresh water is alarming to us. We monitor how we use water in our day-to-day activities and are constantly working on ways to reduce our consumption of fresh-water resources.
We hope you can help us maintain this greener camping!
We hope Paradise Shores Camp becomes your home as it is ours. It’s located in one of the most spectacular areas in the world. We’re surrounded on three sides by the high Sierra Nevada Mountains. Yosemite National Park, Tuolumne Meadows, Mono Lake, June Lake, Virginia Lakes, and Twin Lakes, as well as the historic gold-mining town of Bodie, CA are all within a short drive from our place.
We're proud to know this area intimately and are excited to share the secret spots with you. The excellent hiking/running trails including the Pacific Crest Trail, thousands of miles of ATV, dirt bike and mountain bike trails are accessible right from our camp or within a short drive from here. The surrounding terrain offers endless activities and unbelievable scenery in remote wilderness settings.
Pet Policy
All our RV & Tent sites are pet friendly and we allow up to two dogs per reservation for a small fee. We can also accommodate up to two four-legged campers in our pet-friendly Baja or Tatra trailers for a small fee, we ask that they stay off the furniture (beds, sofas etc.) and are not left in the rental unattended. We love dogs, but sadly won’t be able to accommodate heavily shedding pets that aren’t house trained. Additionally, our insurance will not allow "aggressive breeds" that include any mix of: Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Doberman, German Sheppard.
Please pick up after your pup and use a leash when at the camp. Thank you in advance for your consideration and help in keeping our camp a mellow and enjoyable place for everyone.

Yosemite Westlake was a very nice and quiet campground. The sites were clean and well positioned. Mac met us on arrival, and was very friendly & helpful. We ended up renting a small cabin as we had arrived later than anticipated because of road closures due to 🔥. The cabin was also well appointed and clean. We were appreciative of being able to change. It saved us time for breaking down camp in the a.m. so that we could get into Yosemite. Mac gave us map information for the park and directional tips for arriving. Very much appreciated!!!

Like all the other reviews say…the view is worth it! We stayed at site 2 for a night. We are glad we came later in the evening because it was hot! Setting up a tent around 7pm was perfect and it’s the first time our 4 year old say that many stars and actually watching the moon rise! Beautiful!
Spot is slightly sloped but easy fix by putting some rolled up blankets under our air mattress to sleep level. Alex was great and greeted us upon arrival. Nice and peaceful!

I think campsite 4 is the best one as it has a bit more privacy than the other riverside campsites. As mentioned before in other reviews, the swimming hole is super close walk to this site and is super sweet for little kiddos! We had a lovely time bathing in the crystal clear waters and soaking up the sun on the rocks like lizards.

A hidden gem. Everybody had a blast. We stayed at E1 and had plenty of space for 8 people. We could’ve fit more. Close to bathrooms with hot showers and running well water. We brought a battery for electrical use with string lights, coffee machines, etc and it was some fine glamping. The horses and meadows were beautiful. The manager of the ranch (Ed) came down to personally greet us and toured us around the rest of the ranch. It was a personal touch that made the experience second to none. We will be staying here again for years to come, I just hope it’s availability stays the way it is!

This site is an amazing stay near Oakhurst. It is about 10 minutes from town making it easy to pick up food if necessary, and about 10 minutes from Bass Lake making it a great spot to use a base camp for lake activities.
The site itself is very nice. It is large, shaded, and includes water and power, as well as a short walk to the owner’s bathroom facilities with full shower. In addition, it is just down the hill (literally a two minute walk) to the amazing creek and waterfall area where you can relax, play, hike, and picnic.
We loved staying here with our pups and would highly recommend it for anybody looking for a private camping spot with their dogs.

We really enjoyed our impromptu one-night stay in Shingletown. The campsite was peaceful, quiet, and beautifully surrounded by forest, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and kind to us. A highlight was waking up in the morning to see a deer wandering through the trees just behind our site. The laundry facilities were also very useful during our road trip. A lovely, relaxing stop—we’d happily stay again!

The cabin was incredibly charming. The hosts were very communicative and helpful if I needed something. The location was perfect if you just wanted a little time away, or you wanted a bass camp close to Yosemite. . There is a bathroom and shower in walking distance, but I would recommend driving. There’s a tiny toilet with compostable bags right outside the door for your convenience. The bed was comfortable and there was an air conditioner, a mini fridge, microwave and ceiling fan.. It was truly worth the price and exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be coming back.

Went in late August and we had virtually the entire tent camping section to ourselves! We stayed in sight 9 and it was, in my opinion, the best in the park. It’s big, backs up to a private trail down to the river (it was a bit steep so have proper hiking shoes). If you plan on taking a shower, make sure you give the water enough time to warm up!! It took the entire 5 minutes we paid for to warm up sufficiently and it shut off without warning leaving soap in my hair. Be smart, pay for more than you need! Great camp grounds, VERY clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly and very helpful. I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else when visiting lassen volcanic national park.

I more than enjoyed my stay on Noleen’s land at campsite #5. As a woman camping solo, I was put completely at ease knowing that the main home was just a walk up the hill. While Noleen and her family share their beautiful land with campers, the house is far enough away from the campsites to still feel like you are getting away which was important to me. I pulled my pop up camper along the rivers edge of site #5 and fell asleep and woke up to the sounds and sights of the river right below. My dog also very much enjoyed off leash swimming and exploring. The bathrooms were clean, well maintained and stocked with quality toilet paper. There is very little cell phone service (just how I like it). There was just enough cell service on my last day to be able to request a later check out time, which Noleen kindly approved. Weekend Trip to Ridgetop Ranch Getaway
This was one of my favorite Hipcamps! There was a wagon to help us bring our stuff to the camp, but Chris had a buggy that helped us bring our stuff because admittedly I wanted to try out a large battery for my ice machine because I love having ice for cold drinks on a hot day. Me and my buddy brought two backpacking tents and she set up on the platform and I set up on some very comfortable wood chips that were very flat and in the shade. The platform was wonderful for gazing into the valley and stargazing and we brought our own battery for the outdoor lights. There is a granite slab on a long table for cooking and there’s plenty of places to relax like lounge chairs and benches to hang out. The hammock was fantastic. Everything was really close by 10 minutes to town and very close to Hoyt’s Crossing and other swimming holes. Definitely want to come back again and maybe in the chillier times rent the adorable tiny home. Super easy to find yet felt like I was 1,000,000 miles away and there was some kind of hoot owl in addition to the crickets that was just magical.

Our camp site, F7, was in a perfect location: close enough to big bear and remote enough to enjoy a cool night under the stars. There was a fire pit and bench included. We had enough space to choose were set up our tent and park the car. Spigots were available throughout the camp grounds. Host was great!
