The End of The Driveway is one big site for buses/RVs/big vans next to the Soup Kitchen. 1 Pine and 2 Pine are up a separate driveway on the ridge.
The driveway spot is down the driveway a couple hundred yards from where we usually are so you’ll more or less be on your own, depending on if we have work to do down there or if there are other campers. We are happy to chat or leave you be, just let us know what your needs are. If you’re looking for a more isolated spot, see the listings for 1 Pine or 2 Pine.
The 2nd area is “1 Pine” accessed by our second driveway that is 100 yards down the road from the farm. The driveway is kind of rough but definitely manageable with a truck, SUV or sedan if you’re willing to go for it. The drive goes up a couple hundred yards to the hilltop where there is a clearing and, you guessed it, 1 pine tree. From the back of the clearing there is a trail that leads you to 2 Pine, which is a walk that takes just a few minutes. 2 Pine is walk-in only but has great views of the sunset and is totally secluded and private and would be a good spot to either bring some friends for a little sunset party or for someone who wants to seriously unplug. There are plenty of flat spots to pitch a tent.

For this reason, we ask all campers to be mindful about storing food and disposing of trash in the provided bins. The ranch is comprised of the camping lawns, camping facilities, several homes on the property (two Air BnB and the owner's home) and the motorcycle workshop. Car and RV campers are welcomed and there is plenty of car/RV parking on the asphalt lot outside the fence at the East Side of the property near the mailboxes at the intersection of Rte 4 and Brice Station Road. Our grassy lawn tent area is inaccessible to vehicles and RVs. Our parking area is adjacent to the highway and may not be what rooftop and van/rv campers are expecting in terms of a peaceful camping experience. If you have tent, it’s recommended to camp out on the lawn. We have tents for rent if you need one.

Historic Brice Station 100 acres, was a horse stop on the Ebbetts Pass stage line. Horses were fed, watered and swapped here, over 100 years ago. The Lost Dutchman Italian Bar Camp is a 160 acres of Priviately Owned Patented Mining land and our priviate campground located in the Stanislaus National Forest and on the South Fork of the Stanislaus River, which runs through the camp.
Camping is available on both side of the river making the Italian Bar camp a destination for campers since we rebuilt the camp from the ground up in the late 1970’s.
Whether you want to relax in your campsite listening to the river, dip your toes in the cool waters or try your hand at panning for gold, I-Bar offers all of this and more. There are miles of hiking opportunities around the camp as well, from short river hikes to Trailblazing like the Miners of old. Little History:
The property was discovered and first settled around 1849 as a gold rush mining camp. At one time over 3,000 people lived here and mined for gold. When the gold rush came to an end so did Italian Bar. Until over a hundred years later, In 1976 when our founder fell in love with this remote property and purchased the land and we began rebuilding the I-Bar camp from the ground up and opened it to our members. It didn't hurt that somewhere close by Our founder found a 800oz pocket of gold. Even today, Prospecting for gold is encouraged!
If you want to try your hand at “Gettin on some of the shiny” let the Caretakers know! We have a few gold pans we loan out that are just waiting for some color to make you smile.
Of course we have pans for sale.
If you’re an avid outdoors person, carrying a gold pan with you just makes sense.

The bus was so much fun! Our kids really enjoyed the swing set, animals, and the hosts kids. Ben let us use his outdoor kitchen, fully stocked so we didn’t have to bring our own gear (had pots, pans, plates, a bbq grill and cook stove, some room in the fridge too). The bus had a mini fridge, linens for bed, and towels for the outdoor shower, which was very easy to use. Bus was super cute, Heather has an eye for decor and her hand painted signs everywhere were so cute! Camp had pit toilets. Indian Creek is nearby, a little spot enjoyed by locals on hot days.
In Murphys the farmers market abuts a creek also enjoyed by locals. The Farmers Market on Sunday was lovely, had some very niche and upscale goods plus farmed produce.
Camp was close to Big Trees, Mercer Caves, Murphys and close enough to Columbia that its well within reach. The road is rough and winding in parts but the hosts and experience make it worth your while.

This site located near wonderful pond, where you can swim, fishing, ride the catamaran or just sit on the deck and listen to the birds and frogs. The site has grill, table and fireplace. A quiet, peaceful and very relaxing experience. Malaina was extremely helpful and responsive, the outdoor tub and shower were to die for, and the bed was so comfortable. The space felt private and safe. Truly the perfect glamping experience, 10/10 would absolutely go again.

We stayed at the Treehouse Camp and it was lovely! Clean and comfortable, and the kitchen had enough supplies so we didn't have to bring anything extra. Jeremy was a great host, super nice and responsive. Amazing location right on the lake, just beautiful!

Fabulous spot! close to the river, flat sites, , full of things for kids to do! We saw lots of little animals! The bathrooms were clean and neat. The property is very well taken care of. Emily is very warm and friendly and a great asset to the Lost Dutchman mining camp.. We will definitely return;)
We would not drive our NEW 30 foot class A Motorhome there again. The road is very narrow, the bushes hang down and into the road and it scratched our new Motorhome. That was the only downside of this week long trip..
Narrower and not so tall vehicles should do much better. It is such a secluded, beautiful spot.!!

This was a great quick camping trip! The hosts are incredibly kind and accommodating. Our fellow campers were friendly and quiet. We appreciated the cleanliness of the portapotties. The boat launch is about a 5 minute drive from the campsite- there is no direct reservoir access from the campsites. During our stay, there was no ice nor firewood for sale, however there is a shell gas station about a 20 minute drive away that we were able to get to easily. The showers were clean and warm.
MAKE SURE TO DRIVE IN FROM HWY 4. Maps will take you on a “scenic route”, but highway 4 access via Copperopolis is much easier . Thank you to the hosts for everything!

Stayed at the Super View cabin and it was great! Super unique experience in a one-of-a-kind setting. Our teenage daughters loved being surrounded by all of the animals. It would be easy to spend all day on property but you've also got Murphys a short distance away so there is lots to do.

This was my first time camping in a private land like this, and it was a great first experience! We were greeted by the hosts two dogs that were friendly. We went with a large group and we had ample space to pitch our tents and have lounging area. There were also porta potties near our site, but if you're not into that, they also had functioning toilets and showers at the entrance. There were also spigot waters so we were able to wash everything just fine. Right next to our site, there was a lake if you climbed a hill where I saw several other campers try and fish, my group also tried but no luck, maybe next time! The weather the time we went was bearable, not too hot and not too cold at night. Not that many bugs too! You can also buy firewood from the host if you happen to run out of some, otherwise I think the closest store is 20 minutes away. There's also no wildlife to worry about that I was aware of. Would definitely come here again if I get the chance!

My group of 12 stayed in site #3 and it was amazing. Initially I booked a different spot but after talking to the host, they advised me that site#3 would fit us better and they were absolutely right. It had enough room for 5 cars and 7 tents. That still left us a giant communal space in the middle for cooking, eating, and just hanging out. There’s trees surrounding the area, so there’s lots of shade. I was worried that there would be mosquitos since we’re so close to the water, but surprisingly there were none!
There are port-a-potties throughout the campsites as well. Our site was directly in front of 2, but the downside to that is other campers who used it made a mess in them. But it’s okay, because there’s an actual bathroom with showers by the entrance. Only about 5 minutes walk from us, so that’s what we used. Would definitely come back.
