This site is only a 5 min drive to town, so it’s close to the beach, river access and local restaurants and shops.. Walk through the redwoods or enjoy the sunshine, the property offers a bit of it all! Please take a look at "some things to know" at the bottom! We have 4 different sites to choose from. 3 sites can accommodate recreational vehicles of different sizes and 1 site is just for tents. Large groups are welcome to book all 4 sites and have the property all to your self. Enjoy the cool shade of the redwoods all while being in the sunbelt just 4.5 miles from town of Mendocino! The property has tons of hang out spots! Eat lunch over at the picnic tables, stare up at the stars at our moon gazing bench, or hang out in our communal area, over by the campfire.. We also have an outdoor shower and kitchen sink area that are open to all. The property runs parallel with Mendocino state parks and has plenty of spots to explore! Our main goal is to make you feel at home! Some things to know; -The Mosquitos are starting to die down, but are still present depending on time of day.. We provide repellant over on the bar by the campfire if you need! -We provide garbage bins if you need, but please keep it light. Also- The property backs up to Jackson state forest, so please try to keep from throwing food waste in the garbage. The animals love it! -Cell service is very spotty onsite. -There is one communal fire pit. It is big enough for small kayaks, paddle boards, and rafts too. NEW 2022 Pond Site Addition: We have installed a new fire pit this year!! Upon your arrival, you will find complimentary, match-light firewood set up in the pit for a warm welcome to your site. More firewood is available for purchase throughout your stay. It is illegal in California to travel across county borders with firewood. Firewood often has insect eggs or larvae that can devastate a forest. Please refrain from bringing firewood purchased or harvested from outside Mendocino County. The Best Rest Along the Way: We have created a “self-contained” dry campsite along our main road that is van and truck camping friendly, and can take travel trailers max 16’ length. This site has no amenities and is intended to accommodate people who need a place to catch a rest without sleeping on the roadside, although many do like it as a bear bones campsite. People have found arrowheads, stone beads and grinding stones on the land. We offer various types of camping sites, as well as a teepee - so please read each listing for specific amenity and location information. We sell firewood on site. The amount and variety of wildlife is astonishing, with bear, deer, turkeys, fox, coyote, bobcat, Eagles, River otter, salmon and steelhead, with a wide variety of songbirds during migration. Easy access from road, close to town, tall oak trees, privacy, creek with salmon within a five minute walk, mountains, wildlife, barn owl nest box. Please note that during late summer, creek does not flow on surface but always has swimming holes where the salmon and steelhead wait for Fall rains to carry them down to the Eel river and eventually to the ocean, until they return as adults to spawn again. Guests love staying here: "Elderberry camp was really great! It was a large site, plenty of space, shade, and parking. Very peaceful and good distance between other sites although we were pretty much the only campers out there. Outhouse was clean and there was drinking water. We spent most of our Saturday in Eel River which was great. The water was perfect for swimming and fishing, our husbands caught some big ones. This is the best hipcamp I've stayed at yet! The outdoor shower is so luxurious and the land is absolutely gorgeous and covered in trees. This time of year the land was wet and so so green, my fav! There are so many places to hang.. at communal fire pit, around the pond, in a hammock, on the treehouse pad, at the bench by the garden, exploring all the little walking trails. Would be an amazing spot to rent out with a big group. The one and only thing I didn't love was hearing the occasional vehicle passing by on the road. Thanks so much Nathaniel and Pearl!

Peaceful spot, easy driving instructions and responsive host. Well groomed campsite areas (creekside 1/2) felt safe and comfortable. My cell service was spotty and needed to travel about 5-10min out to get all services available but that’s ok, it’s camping. The view of the stars and moon were clear, the fire pit and toilet were very nice to have. The care taker was pleasant and accommodating

Only 3 sites on the property, but each is spaced so you are not too close to the other. I was able to walk among the fruit trees and check out the sites. I liked it so much that I stayed an extra day. Can't wait to come again in the spring. Joseph was cutting branches, so I was able to meet him, and the dogs came to greet us as well! Very relaxed and friendly environment. Thank you for everything you do to make a nice stay.

Beautiful sites surrounded by an old apple orchard. Very quiet, close to Occidental (5 min by car) and only 20 minutes to the coast. No bathrooms. Minimal running water. You need to bring your own (rv best, or potty arrangement). Owner has 2 friendly dogs. They WILL visit you. Our large dog enjoyed them but if your dog(s) is not social, you could have issues. We will definitely return. We are fully set up to camp off the grid.

Elderberry Camp was a nice and secluded stay. We essentially had the entire place to ourselves. Elderberry camp is the furthest away from the other 2 sites on that side of the property, but also note that it is the closest to the road. There isn’t enough traffic for it to be a problem in my opinion but if you are a light sleeper, it may affect you. Unfortunately, the creek was also dry during our stay. However, the foggy nights brought in nice moisture/frost that burned off by 11am. Another plus was the clean outhouse. Thanks, Stephen!

What a great spot! You can tell the hosts have taken time to make this a special place! We had the place to ourselves so it felt very private, but I think it still would have if others were there because it’s so wooded. The outhouse is so clean and the outdoor shower was so cool, lots of hot water! It was rainy so we didn’t get to enjoy the fire pit area but it looked nice. The host was great, very accommodating and fast to respond. Highly recommend!
