This magical place is far out there! We are providing a setting for those adventurers who want a place to REALLY "get away from it all." Expect a beautiful 30 minute drive on gravel roads through mature Redwood forest from the village of Mendocino. The property is also accessible from Fort Bragg via HWY 20 and road 408/Little Lake Rd.
The Aloha Cabin is a beautiful one room timber frame cabin located on a ridge top in the Redwood forest. Upon entering the gate at Old Mill Farm the Aloha Cabin is the first building you see as you come out of the thick forest and into the mixed meadow/forest ridge top of the property. Old Mill Farm is a 320 ranch in the middle of Mendocino county's 50,000 acre JDSF (Jackson State Demonstration Forest.) The Aloha sits by itself about a 1/2 mile from the rest of the ranch buildings and like the entire ranch is completely off-grid. Electricity is provided by a solar photovoltaic system and battery back up. All water is pumped with solar power and gravity fed throughout the property. You will be imbedded in the outdoors with ample opportunity to commune with the forest and the wildlife that live there.
The Aloha has a kitchen equipped for cooking with refrigerator, range and oven. There is a bathroom with a flush toilet and a private outdoor shower.
We provide linens and bedding for the full size bed and towels for 4 guests. There is also a sleeping loft (with no bedding included but can be added as an extra.) Please bring your own pads and sleeping bags to use the loft or pitch a tent in the front yard.
The front yard is fenced and has a fire pit. Always be fire conscious - never burn outside of the fire pit and extinguish all fires before leaving or bed.
You are free to relax in the natural beauty of this place, meditate while walking our earthen labyrinth or hike around the property along the ridge and on the logging roads that descend on each side. Please respect all signs and private residents. JDSF has extensive hiking and mountain bike trails accessible right from the cabin or a short drive away.

Mendocino is just about half an hour away, so it's a really easy trip if you'd like to explore this great coastal spot!
Hiking, forest bathing, beach walking, cliff walks, kayaking, and canoeing are just some of the best and most popular things to do around here. We suggest bringing bathing suits if it's warm out.

It is equipped with all the amenities just like you're home - only better because you're on vacation! The blazing fast internet helps you to stay connected while you can enjoy privacy, calmness and nature. Weekend Trip to Cozy Creek in downtown Point Arena
Clayton's place was the perfect choice from which to enjoy both the town and environs of Point Arena. We felt immediately at home in the refurbished apartment in his storied, 115 year-old former boarding house. The building has clearly been restored with love and care which extends to Clayton's hosting of the space as well. Highly recommended!

We (two humans, one dog) had a wonderful time at the Aloha cabin. It is extremely remote and private, as advertised. We had some issues with the gate and the pump, and the host was very responsive and helpful, and can be onsite if needed. I had one bar of service when I sat on the couch.
The front yard with the fire pit is nice and large and fully fenced. We appreciated the fenced yard and the system of latching gates around the front porch. Made it easy to let our doggie run around the yard without worrying about her getting out.
The land is beautiful and lovely to walk around on, even (especially?) in the rain with high winds.

Really beautiful spot. Just as pictured. The drive is also stunning. Recommend to do during daylight.
One of our dogs is very elderly and this was a nice option for him with relatively few stairs. Flat fenced yard and other flat areas/roads to walk. Very quiet and nice. Would love to come back.

We had a wonderful stay at Aloha Cabin! The property is secluded, peaceful, and perfect for unplugging. We loved exploring the abundant land, and the night sky was incredible—we could even see the Milky Way. The yard and fire pit made evenings extra cozy, and our pets enjoyed it just as much as we did.
Inside, the wood stove kept us warm and comfortable, and everything worked perfectly. The cabin has a charming, eco-friendly feel with cool history and plenty of books to browse. It was exactly the cozy getaway we were hoping for.

Aloha Cabin sits among beautiful trees and a quiet forest - perfect for real quiet time in nature. Going off-grid, watching the fire glow at night, and then curling up in a cozy, comfortable cabin that had everything we needed felt so good. My boyfriend and I loved it here! You really feel, and are, separated from everything and it’s great that the cabin has everything you need. So incredibly peaceful and we really appreciated all the trails that were left for us on a map inside the cabin. You see the rare biker group or car pass by but other than that, no one else around. Bit of a rough drive once you get off the highway but if you come prepared with a car that can handle that, you’ll be just fine.

This was just an incredible stay for our family at the Aloha cabin. It was the perfect amount of disconnect and comfort. Most of my family slept outdoors in tents and hammocks, but two of us slept indoors on a comfy bed. The hot shower was amazing, and the option to cook all our food was ideal. We spent some days at the beach and exploring the coast, and other days at the cabin soaking in the magical redwoods and serene environment. Cas was an exceptional host that provided a beautiful home and absolutely perfect setup. We will be back!
