Lynda was very friendly and helpful. The property has amazing themed sites to lounge at and are large enough for a group or family if you rent both sites (cabin and boathouse). The cozy cabin has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Lynda has taken a lot of time to ensure the cabin is well stocked with useful items so you only need to bring clothes, toiletries, and food to have a great stay. We loved using the hot tub/fire pit at night and reading or playing board games on the covered porch during the day. The dimmable lights in the cabin and on the patio were such a nice touch! The cabin and surrounding area felt very private. The nearby of town of Monte Rio is within walking distance (or a quick drive) and has multiple restaurants (the food from Sarah’s Kitchen in the Highland Dell was very good). This is also a great location as there’s so much to do nearby. You’re close to the coast and multiple small towns to explore. I highly recommend staying here and cannot wait to come back!

Lynda and Rich were friendly, funny, and welcoming. Simple check in with recommendations in the neighborhood.
The photos don’t do the property justice - it is beautiful, silly, and unique. Each spot has its own privacy, and it feels like you are in your own little grove.
You’re also right next to a wonderful breakfast/lunch spot, and just a few minutes from the Russian River and Guerneville.
I highly recommend the Wackalulu Cozy Cabin to anyone reading this!

We had the most amazing experience staying at Lynda and Rick’s Hipcamp, the Wakalulu in the boathouse. From start to finish, everything was incredible—though I think our dog Moon might have out-partied us! Lynda and Rick were fantastic hosts, so warm and kind, and the care and detail they put into their home was truly inspiring. You can see their love not only for hosting, but also for design and all things tiki. Every corner felt thoughtful and special. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home, yet transported at the same time. This spot has officially become an annual destination for us—hopefully more than once a year—and we look forward to making many more memories here with friends and family. 💛 Daniel and Rachel + Moon

Nestled in a beautifully wooded enclave next to a creek, Lynda and Rich have created a yabba dabba doo whimsical cabin in the woods. We stayed in the main cabin and enjoyed all the comforts of home in a cozy cabin with all of the amenities one would need; a fully operational kitchen with coffee, dishes, a microwave, and a good sized fridge/freezer with lots of counter space, I have to mention the extremely comfortable bed and bedding, with optional warming on each individual side of the bed in case of cool nights. Fans and screens perfectly placed to keep the cabin cool on a warmer day. The cabin is located between Sebastopol and Jenner in Monte Rio and everything is 15 mins away… though the minute you sit and put your feet up you feel transported hundreds of miles away from civilization and relaxation greets you immediately. We recommend this site if you are looking for immersion into nature with the comforts of a rustic, cozy cabin in the woods!

The cozy cabin was a wonderful stay!. Our hosts were very helpful, sharing all the information that we would need. There were so many thoughtful details. The hot tub was great, there were so many places to sit and enjoy the beautiful property, it felt private, the cabin was very clean, and we had everything we could want in the kitchen including coffee and a press pot. We would definitely stay again. Highest recommendation!!!

Cozy Cabin
Very cozy and comfy. We loved our stay and will definitely visit again. The private hot tub and chill area was so relaxing and fun!

Wackalulus Wonderland was so fun! Lynda, Rich and Bo were beyond beyond gracious and fun. We stayed in the Boat House and it was so cozy and comfy. We had sole access to a fully outfitted kitchen with a great deck area. There are so many separate spots to hang out, socialize or spend time alone appreciating the trees and the busy birds. Walking along the creek bed and just marveling at nature. It's close enough to golf, dining, the river....something for everyone. We can't wait to go back!

Wonderful getaway—magical grove with little surprises around every corner. We relaxed around the fire annoyed the patio and hot tub. But there’s also a tiki bar, a pirate-themed lounge, a trains, gnomes, and pink flamingos. A lovely couple hosting with lots of hospitality! The lodgings here were clearly created with a lot of love. Our stay far exceeded our expectations. Lynda & Rich went way above and beyond to answer our questions, and provide information about local activities.
The hosts did a great job of creating a number of cozy seating areas on the property.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TRIP:

Hanging out in the area overlooking the creek, in front of a cozy fire

Grilling salmon and vegetables on the outside grill
We ended up upgrading to the Cozy Cabin, which was a better choice for us, since the bathroom and kitchen were part of the building. We were very comfortable there. The place was decorated with a lot of love and care, and lots of amenities. Would highly recommend

We had such a wonderful stay at Wackalulu’s Wonderland this past weekend! Lynda and Rich were absolutely amazing hosts—so welcoming and attentive. They took the time and care to give us a thoughtful tour of the property, making sure we knew where everything was and felt comfortable from the start.
The property itself is very cool and unique, with just about everything you could need for a relaxing weekend getaway. From the setup to the little details, you can tell how much love and effort has gone into creating this space.
We had an incredible experience and would definitely make another trip out here. Highly recommend staying at Wackalulu’s Wonderland if you’re looking for a fun, memorable Hipcamp adventure!

Three of us rented the two cabins for a weekend of relaxation. Such a fabulous space with so many lovely areas to hang out. The host was very gracious. Loved all of the tiki decor. We enjoyed barbecuing and sitting around the fire pit area, and hot tub. I would definitely return to this delightful little haven.

Spent the weekend with another couple, and we had a fantastic time. The hosts are AMAZING and went above and beyond. There are two rentals, and we had the property to ourselves. The thought and planning that went into their vacation rental far exceeded our expectations. Plenty of space to hang out lots of activities nearby. Cant wait to come back and make more memories!

This property is beyond special. From the moment we entered the gate, we were hooked. We stayed in the Cozy Cabin, which was absolutely amazing. The thoughtfulness on how they put the place together was incredible. Lynda Lu has a gift for making the space eclectic and fun, while throwing in a few classy touches that anyone would love. The hot tub was perfect to warm up in the morning, and relaxing before bed. The grounds lit up and night making the whole property look like a wonderland. Rich and Lynda were gracious hosts, even offered up apples and blackberries from the property! What really struck me was how clean even the deck area and outdoor seating areas were. Not a spider web in site! We can’t wait to come back with the family!

Lynda/Rich have done wonders to their amenities-laden property to make any visit a very memorable one. I'd venture the kitchen alone will conjure up visions of Disneyland, Waikiki Beach and Surf City USA, all rolled up in one. My pup (enjoyed roaming the spacious area and meeting friendly, laid-back Bogie, the host doggie) and I were quite comfortable sleeping in the Boathouse, overlooking a creek, that offered much privacy and seclusion. The bathroom reminded me of the TikiTiki Room, if memory serves, with their bamboo walls. Clean fun can be had there! Yet, the spacious kitchen is what really can make your imagination romp! If you're a surfer, SCUBA and/or abalone diver, and/or just a plain ole beach bum at heart who enjoys hoisting margaritas at the local beachside shack, this place is for you. The theme is best experiences by photos. And Lynda and Rich are super-nice, friendly and sociable people. They definitely made me feel at home, sharing a part of themselves, and telling about how they came to develop their land. No doubt, I'll be visiting, again, as I would as if they were close family.

Even after reading many of the glowing reviews, we were unprepared for how lovely and comfortable our stay at Wackalulu's Wonderland would be. Lynda Lu and Rich have truly created a haven in the woods of Monte Rio. The Cozy Cabin was richly appointed with every amenity we could have wanted to feel perfectly at home. There are so many places to sit and lounge and enjoy the surrounding nature. Even though you're a short walk or drive from Bartlett's Market and Lightwave Coffee, it feels private and tucked-away. And our hosts could not have been more fun or gracious (and when one of us left behind our wallet, Lynda Lu shipped it to us the next day!). This will be our go to when we come back to the Russian River, which we now can't wait to do!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived, Lulu and Rick were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, making us feel right at home. The riverfront location is truly unbeatable, offering stunning views and a peaceful, serene atmosphere. We especially loved spending time with their sweet dog, Boogy, who was so playful and added an extra layer of joy to our trip. If you're looking for a relaxing and memorable getaway, this is the perfect spot. Its also close enough (5mins) to groceries and/or awesome restaurants. We can't wait to come back!

Amazing hosts! You can tell this place is a labor of love. The cabin is a great getaway spot, and I loved the backwoods trail that led right to the local coffee shop. My wife and I were looking for a little time away, just the two of us, and this place was the right vibe for what we were looking for!

We loved Wackalulu’s slice of paradise. Lynda Lu and Rich were full of warmth and suggestions for how to make our trip the most comfortable. We were a short walk to Monte Rio and the boat house was quiet and serene. Loved all of the thoughtful touches like soft robes and towels and the shower was incredible! Highly recommend - I hope we get to come back some day!

Lynda Lu was a warm and welcoming host. Wacalulu's Wonderland was a great place to stay for close proximity to the coast and redwood forests. All the spaces were thoughtfully designed and decorated.

We had such a wonderful time at the Wakalulu Wonderland and it was truly a wonderland. The host Lynda is so kind and welcoming, when we got there she gave us a tour of the property which is amazing. We stayed in the Cozy Cabin and it was soo cozy. The kitchen was small but mighty, we were able to cook a hearty dinner (burgers with toasted buns) and a romantic breakfast (cheese eggs, arugula salad, tortillas and salsa). We spent our evening playing Uno and listening to music in the living room area and our nights on a heated and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was lovely and spacious. The entire cabin was immaculate - not a speck of dust or cobwebs and all the linens smelled of flowers and sunshine!! We will definitely be returning and will be our new place to stay when we visit the Russian River area. I can't wait to return with my friends and family to this lovely, welcoming and peaceful place in the woods.

We had such a beautiful and memorable stay at Lynda Lu and Rich’s place. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely welcomed — not just by the peaceful surroundings, but by their warmth and generosity as hosts.
Brad celebrated his birthday here, and I don’t think we could’ve asked for a more special setting. It truly felt like every little corner of the space had been put together with love. You can tell they care deeply about making this place feel magical for others.
One of our favorite moments was picking apples right from the trees. I had big plans to turn them into pies once we got home… although the blackberries didn’t stand a chance — we ate them all right away!
Thank you again, Lynda and Rich, for sharing this gem with us. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already dreaming of coming back.

We loved the space! It was lovely, romantic, cozy and wacky! Lynda met us, showed us around the property - a cozy little boat house cabin, showers, and a well stocked kitchen. They'd even prepped the fire pit for us so all we had to do was light it! The late night lighting was romantic and we really enjoyed ourselves. We'll be back for sure.

Cozy Cabin
Wackalulu’s is the kind of place that makes you smile without ever having to try too hard. It’s very comfortable, thoughtfully designed, eccentric, private, and surrounded by nature—like a bougie mix of Swiss Family Robinson meets Pirates of the Caribbean. The hosts are genuinely friendly and fun, if you are in the mood for a chat, but they also have their own space if you are in the mood to be alone. The thoughtful touches elevate the experience.
The location is ideal: a short walk to a genuinely healthy and delicious brunch spot and an easy drive (or leisurely stroll) to the Russian River. One of those rare places that's both relaxing and slightly adventurous, and unique but not gimmicky. Spend time wondering the yard and all there is to look at. Would absolutely return.

My husband and I (and our dog!) celebrated our 30th anniversary at the Cozy Cabin. Lynda and Rich have created an adorable creekside oasis! From hanging out on the comfortable porch to walking our dog around the creek, in the woods and to the skatepark to our nightly activity of watching the bats swooping over the creek with a warm fire. The cabin has everything you need and the bed is very comfortable. We highly recommend The Cozy Cabin and we'll be back!
