My daughter and I really enjoyed staying in the Cozy Cabin for a weekend away together. The cabin is indeed "cozy" and comfortable, and we loved the various gathering spaces outdoors. On our last evening my daughter enjoyed the hot tub while I sat by the fire so we could chat!
And we appreciated that Lynda was very responsive when we had questions about the wifi- many thanks for your hospitality Lynda!
This place was amazing! Rich and Lynda are lovely and put such great care into the place! Our pup Luna really loved it! There is the coolest cafe walking distance which is not to be missed! We really did not want to leave! We will be back!

This place was absolutely amazing! The passion and thought the host put into creating their own little Wonderland is evident in every detail. I would highly recommend Wackalulus Wonderland to anyone looking for their own private paradise to chill, relax, and enjoy the beauty of nature. Truly a magical and peaceful escape!

The Boathouse
Our stay was so perfect in their eclectic place! You can tell they’ve worked hard for a long time to make it both fun and comfortable. There’s no limit to the crazy details in the furnishings and the plants that seem never ending. Would love to go back and bring the whole family. The really great part? The hand constructed Adirondack chairs in the secret forest hideout. Just very cool.

Such an amazing space, already want to come back! Everything works so well and it’s so beautiful around.
I don’t even want to share how amazing this place is because I want to be able to book it again. However, Wakalulu is all about openness and connection. The hosts are amazing and show you everything you need or might want then flutter off into what I can only imagine is a castle in the woods for they are too magical to live like mere mortals. This place is curated and the pictures do not begin to do it justice. My only regret is we only stayed 2 nights. You need at least three to soak up the magic. We will be back.

Our stay at Wakalulu::
Both Lu and Rich are gracious hosts! We ended up staying in the larger cabin which we highly recommend. It has a very comfortable king size bed, bath and shower and quite adequate kitchen. There are wonderfully quirky decorative pieces around and marvelous landscaping. It’s obviously a labor of love!!
Overall it was a peaceful and enjoyable getaway.

Absolutely well thought out spot. The ambiance was so tranquil with our hosts attention to detail making our stay magical. The boat house was so cozy and the use of the common spaces made us feel like we found a place to unwind under the stunning canopy of trees. From the tiki shower (complete with dog wash station), the fully stocked wack shacks open air kitchen to the creekside fire pit-just magical. We will be back for a longer stay next time for sure! Thank you both!!!

Cozy Cabin
My partner, pup, and I loved our stay in the Cozy Cabin! Lynda, Rich, and Bogey have put together a beautiful space with a lot of charm and personality, from the common spaces (for lounging by the creek and in a new space under the trees for the warmer midday), to the repurposed door to the cabin. The creature comforts (heated water and heating pads for the bed) were much appreciated and our pup felt right at home and had so much fun exploring the property. The property is very conveniently located, with a local cafe (Lightwave) pretty much in the backyard of the property, and a convenience store and a tasty pizzeria (Wonderland) a short 15 minute walk away in Monte Rio. The Monte Rio Redwoods Trailhead (2.3 mile loop) and beach access to the Russian River were also within a 15 minute walk. We also enjoyed dinner a 15 minute drive away in the very dog-friendly Guerneville, and enjoyed activities on the Russian River half an hour away (and the drives are beautiful, with many wineries on the way!). My one tip for future hip campers is to make sure you download maps for the area beforehand - my service was very spotty, and the wifi connection in the Cabin came and went, though it is stronger in the common spaces!
So. Much. Fun. Apart from everything thing being super clean and incredibly well provisioned, the whole property is ridiculously charming. There are so many cozy places to sit and drink in the beautiful surroundings, the decor is so fun, wood work around the property is beautifully done and maintained, fresh flowers, fun knick-knacks, lighting, every tool or utensil you could need.
Walkable to the market, branches, and a great coffee shop, the location can't be beat.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention how kind and fun the hosts are - Lynda Lu and Rich are two in a million. We had a small crisis (not stay related) and they jumped in to help without a hesitation. Also have super cool stores about the property. Do chat them up for the best info.

We had a great time at the Cozy Cabin. Lots of character and attention to detail. Lynda was very welcoming and helped us feel right at home. It was relaxing to hang out on deck and private patio area, and soaking in the hot tub at the end of the day was a treat. Would love to come back again sometime!

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! We were greeted by Lynda who showed us the ropes around the property- really appreciated all the added insights from lighting details and secret ways to the coffee shop :) The space was private and very well appointed. We especially loved all of the thoughtful details both in the cabin and throughout the property (pre-prepared fire pit on our first night, comfy seating throughout, the fishing rod curtain “rods”!) Sitting in the private garden space sounded like a jungle with all the birds- so amazing! Highly recommend for a quiet and quirky retreat! Can’t wait to book our next trip.
Lynda’s Wackalulu camp offered such a magical and romantic experience for my boyfriend and my anniversary. Every detail in the many different private and shared spaces was thoughtful and so creative. We were constantly in awe of all the little details around us. We also loved making smores at Lulu’s landing and sitting by the fireplace and creek!
I also forgot my jacket at her camp, and Lynda offered immediately to mail it to me! This is a one of a kind Hipcamp, if you are debating booking, do it!!
What an incredible place! Each and every corner of Lynda’s property is well thought out. There are little cozy nooks everywhere for private relaxation and larger spaces for communal fun. The decorations are amazing and even the smallest details are considered, like small bedside lights that are also fans for the warmer months. Citronella candles are disbursed throughout as are lighters for lighting them. There are grills and every utensil you could need. If Wackalulu had only the sitting area by the creek and none of the other restful spots this place would be amazing. Seriously, check out this incredibly peaceful spot from which you can walk to a delicious cafe or right into Monte Rio. It feels secluded and peaceful and yet it’s right in the middle of everything The Russian River has to offer. Oh, and Lynda and Rich are absolutely amazing hosts!! They were kind, funny and just a joy to talk with. Don’t miss out on this gem of a place. Or do miss out so we can more easily book again.

We loved the property and our cozy boathouse. The grounds are incredible and relaxing. The hosts provided great information before we arrived as well as including the perfect information about local things to do. We hope for a chance to come back and visit and stay longer next time!!

Cozy Cabin
The site was lovely and super cute! I would definitely recommend it for a large group of people!
Lynda was very friendly and helpful. The property has amazing themed sites to lounge at and are large enough for a group or family if you rent both sites (cabin and boathouse). The cozy cabin has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Lynda has taken a lot of time to ensure the cabin is well stocked with useful items so you only need to bring clothes, toiletries, and food to have a great stay. We loved using the hot tub/fire pit at night and reading or playing board games on the covered porch during the day. The dimmable lights in the cabin and on the patio were such a nice touch! The cabin and surrounding area felt very private. The nearby of town of Monte Rio is within walking distance (or a quick drive) and has multiple restaurants (the food from Sarah’s Kitchen in the Highland Dell was very good). This is also a great location as there’s so much to do nearby. You’re close to the coast and multiple small towns to explore. I highly recommend staying here and cannot wait to come back!

Lynda and Rich were friendly, funny, and welcoming. Simple check in with recommendations in the neighborhood.
The photos don’t do the property justice - it is beautiful, silly, and unique. Each spot has its own privacy, and it feels like you are in your own little grove.
You’re also right next to a wonderful breakfast/lunch spot, and just a few minutes from the Russian River and Guerneville.
I highly recommend the Wackalulu Cozy Cabin to anyone reading this!

We had the most amazing experience staying at Lynda and Rick’s Hipcamp, the Wakalulu in the boathouse. From start to finish, everything was incredible—though I think our dog Moon might have out-partied us! Lynda and Rick were fantastic hosts, so warm and kind, and the care and detail they put into their home was truly inspiring. You can see their love not only for hosting, but also for design and all things tiki. Every corner felt thoughtful and special. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home, yet transported at the same time. Nestled in a beautifully wooded enclave next to a creek, Lynda and Rich have created a yabba dabba doo whimsical cabin in the woods. We stayed in the main cabin and enjoyed all the comforts of home in a cozy cabin with all of the amenities one would need; a fully operational kitchen with coffee, dishes, a microwave, and a good sized fridge/freezer with lots of counter space, I have to mention the extremely comfortable bed and bedding, with optional warming on each individual side of the bed in case of cool nights. Fans and screens perfectly placed to keep the cabin cool on a warmer day. The cabin is located between Sebastopol and Jenner in Monte Rio and everything is 15 mins away… though the minute you sit and put your feet up you feel transported hundreds of miles away from civilization and relaxation greets you immediately. We recommend this site if you are looking for immersion into nature with the comforts of a rustic, cozy cabin in the woods!
The cozy cabin was a wonderful stay!. Our hosts were very helpful, sharing all the information that we would need. There were so many thoughtful details. The hot tub was great, there were so many places to sit and enjoy the beautiful property, it felt private, the cabin was very clean, and we had everything we could want in the kitchen including coffee and a press pot. Cozy Cabin
Very cozy and comfy. We loved our stay and will definitely visit again. The private hot tub and chill area was so relaxing and fun!

Wackalulus Wonderland was so fun! Lynda, Rich and Bo were beyond beyond gracious and fun. We stayed in the Boat House and it was so cozy and comfy. We had sole access to a fully outfitted kitchen with a great deck area. There are so many separate spots to hang out, socialize or spend time alone appreciating the trees and the busy birds. Walking along the creek bed and just marveling at nature. It's close enough to golf, dining, the river....something for everyone. We can't wait to go back!

Lynda did a great job of describing this fun spot - it was exactly as expected and lovely.
Wonderful getaway—magical grove with little surprises around every corner. We relaxed around the fire annoyed the patio and hot tub. But there’s also a tiki bar, a pirate-themed lounge, a trains, gnomes, and pink flamingos. A lovely couple hosting with lots of hospitality! The lodgings here were clearly created with a lot of love. Our stay far exceeded our expectations. Lynda & Rich went way above and beyond to answer our questions, and provide information about local activities.

We had such a wonderful stay at Wackalulu’s Wonderland this past weekend! Lynda and Rich were absolutely amazing hosts—so welcoming and attentive. They took the time and care to give us a thoughtful tour of the property, making sure we knew where everything was and felt comfortable from the start.
The property itself is very cool and unique, with just about everything you could need for a relaxing weekend getaway. From the setup to the little details, you can tell how much love and effort has gone into creating this space.
We had an incredible experience and would definitely make another trip out here. Highly recommend staying at Wackalulu’s Wonderland if you’re looking for a fun, memorable Hipcamp adventure!
Three of us rented the two cabins for a weekend of relaxation. Such a fabulous space with so many lovely areas to hang out. The host was very gracious. Loved all of the tiki decor. We enjoyed barbecuing and sitting around the fire pit area, and hot tub. I would definitely return to this delightful little haven.
