With the Saguaro National Park Visitor Center, Tucson Mountain Park, and Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum all within four miles, there is plenty of opportunity to explore the outdoors. Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park boast hundreds of miles of hiking trails, and non-motorized mountain bikes are permitted on the trails in Tucson Mountain Park. Let us be your base camp for desert exploration whether it's hiking, riding, birdwatching, and learning. Come to Camp Saguaro and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the desert. Our friendly hosts can help you plan a great day, some of them even have their Certified Tourism Amabssador credentials. Please note: We are tobacco-free, medicinal herbs are legal and ok as long as children are not around.
What to expect:
We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote.
We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible.
We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time.
Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free.

This darling camper cabin has one bedroom with a queen sized bed (2 guests), and two pull out couches for up to four additional guests. The well stocked kitchen has all the cookware and utensils you'll need for cooking, a propane range, as well as a cooler for your use (bring ice). A gas barbecue is on site as well. The wood stove kicks out a ton of heat to keep you toasty while you sip on steamy hot chocolate that is provided for your enjoyment. Gather around the propane operated firepit in the backyard for some R&R. Bring a hammock 'cuz there are unlimited opportunities for stringing one up! Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. If that's not enough check this out:(a) it's just 5 miles to the Arizona Nordic Center for incredible cross country ski trails(b) it's just 18 miles to Snowbowl for chairlift rides or world class skiing(c) it's just 20 miles to the hip town of Flagstaff for fantastic restaurants, golfing, shopping, coffee shops and museums(d) it's just 60 miles to historic Williams with the Bearizona wildlife park and the popular Grand Canyon Railway(e) it's just 55 miles to the world famous Grand Canyon. (f) It's just 50 miles to gorgeous Sedona, making it a perfect day trip! (g) and last but not least, it's right next to the Kendrick Snowmobile Trails, which offers 54 miles of unbeatable snowmobile adventures! The property is located approximately 2.1 miles off the main highway down a forest service road. The road is in excellent shape during the summer months. During winter you MUST have a 4WD vehicle to access the property, particularly if there has been a significant snowfall recently. During a snowy period, access may require either cross country skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling to the property from the main highway (approx 2.1 miles). If you get stuck on the road it will be your own responsibility. Please check with the owner a couple days prior to your visit to check on road conditions during the winter!
Pets must be well behaved and cleaned up after, including excessive animal hair. Leash laws apply to Coconino National Forest. Please do not book the Glamper Cabin if you plan to bring a pet which is known to be aggressive or unpredictable in nature, including breeds or mixed breeds such as pitbulls, rottweilers, bullmastiff and American Bulldog. We are not responsible for any interactions your pets may have with wildlife or other pets in the area.

When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.
We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead.
There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.

Russell's space was perfect for what my boyfriend and i were looking for on our cross country road trip.
We picked up groceries in Kanab, made fire, cooked and ate outside, stargazed/witnessed meteors and slept in. The space was perfect for the two of us and our dog and i couldnt recommend staying here more!
Russell also gave us fantastic recommendations/ responded quickly to any and all questions that came up. We are super grateful for the experience and would 10/10 stay again.

I really loved my stay at Sacred Springs. The campground was very clean and well organized. The amenities were great. Gary and Daren really thought of everything that you would need to have a great experience. And that is just the campsites. That doesn’t include the actual Sacred Springs. It is like a whole other world down below the campground. I was able to hike the many trails and enjoy the wonderful variety of birds like a pair of black hawks to the Gila woodpeckers. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to enjoy getting into any of the water due to recent rains, but they were beautiful nevertheless. If you are a light sleeper you will definitely want to use ear plugs like Gary and Daren suggest since IH-17 is so close, but it is a small inconvenience considering how cool the whole place is. I really hope to get back to Sacred Springs sooner that later. Thanks Gary and Daren!

This spot was absolutely beautiful! Very quiet & lovely night skies. The spots are pretty level & there is a good amount of space at each site. Facilities are open 24/7 & laundry onsite is reasonable. You do need to prepare supply wise, as there's not a whole lot within about 20 miles (closest towns are Fredonia & Colorado City, which the latter follows DST so heads up on store hours). My only complaint is that the wifi was very slow & cut out frequently, which made it hard to work, especially the last week. As long as you're not relying on fast wifi or cell service though, this is a great spot for a peaceful getaway. In the 3 weeks we were there, we were able to visit the Grand Canyon north rim, Vermillion cliffs, Glen Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National, Coral Sand Dunes, Snow Canyon, the Sand Caves, & way more, so it's definitely a great spot if you're looking to be central to a lot of the outdoor activities the region has to offer. I'm not kidding about dark skies, they call it the dark sky nation for a reason. Only night I didn't see the milky way was when it was cloudy. Would definitely come back when I'm not working!!

The Land Beyond Zion is thoughtfully curated, unique, and comfortable. The hosts, Tiffany and Gil, are welcoming and wonderful beyond measure. I’d stay here a million times over. The shower is a dream, the kitchen is functional and stocked, they have ensured you have access to whatever you can think of that you may need :)

If you're looking for a huge RV resort, Camp Land Beyond Zion isn't it—and that's exactly what makes it special.
We stayed in Redrock Site 11 with our fifth wheel. While the campground mainly caters to tent campers and Class B and B+ camper vans, they do have a couple of sites for larger RVs. Tiffany and Gill met us when we arrived and even helped us get set up, making us feel welcome from the start.
Our site had water and electricity (no sewer hookup), but there's a large modern RV dump station and Bee's Marketplace just a short drive away. The campground's community kitchen is a wonderful gathering place where guests can cook, wash dishes, and socialize.
Although the campground is still young and has few trees, Tiffany shared her plans to add more landscaping, and it's easy to see how this place will only get better with time.
The highlight of our stay was the night sky. In less than an hour we saw four shooting stars, and the Big Dipper was spectacular. Combined with the peaceful setting and Tiffany and Gill's genuine hospitality, it made for a stay we'll always remember.
Years ago, when we traveled by tent, this is exactly the kind of campground we would have loved to find. We'll definitely stay here again the next time we're passing through the Colorado City/Cane Beds area.

If you’re even thinking about booking with Gary and Daren, do it. They are, without question, some of the best hosts we’ve ever had.
We stayed at both their Hipcamp site and their VRBO, and everything exceeded our expectations. Their property is absolutely beautiful, with private creek access that makes it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Whether you want a peaceful retreat or an adventure-filled trip, this is an incredible home base.
Gary and Daren go above and beyond in every possible way. They have fantastic recommendations for hiking, restaurants, and exploring Sedona, and their local knowledge made our trip so much better. In fact, I’m pretty sure Gary saved me from becoming one with the Arizona desert when he insisted I borrow one of his umbrellas before we headed out on a trail. I laughed at first…then spent the entire hike incredibly grateful for his advice! That umbrella made all the difference.
Their hospitality is truly unmatched. They think of everything, they genuinely care that you have a wonderful stay, and somehow they even managed to do our dishes. It’s the kind of thoughtful, effortless kindness that makes you feel less like a guest and more like a friend.
Gary and Daren have created something really special here. We left feeling refreshed, well cared for, and already talking about our next trip back. If you’re visiting Sedona or anywhere nearby, don’t hesitate—this is the place you want to stay.

I loved tent camping and staying in the yurt at Tiffany & Gills land! These owners are some of the kindest people I’ve met and this place has great amenities. The kitchens were fully stocked with cooking supplies, there’s a nice platform available to use for yoga/working out and the bathrooms are kept well cleaned. The hosts made my stay especially comfortable and I’d definitely recommend staying here!

We had such a wonderful stay at Land Beyond Zion! Everything on the property was incredibly clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully cared for. You can really tell Tiffany and Gill put a lot of love into creating a welcoming and homey environment.
One of the highlights of our trip was the hot tub and chatting with Tiffany and Gill. In addition, the stars at camp were also absolutely breathtaking and made for a peaceful, memorable evening.
We were so grateful that Tiffany and Gill were able to accommodate a last-minute upgrade from our campsite to the yurt on the day of our arrival. We really appreciated their flexibility and kindness.
They were warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The property is also in a fantastic location near Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Tiffany even shared a few recommendations for places to explore.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely stay here again, for longer. Thank you, Tiffany and Gill, for your incredible hospitality:)

This is my go-to Hipcamp spot, and there’s a reason I keep coming back! The property offers the perfect amount of tree shade, keeping the sites nice and cool. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful, making it a true escape. Close to town and a couple of great bars and restaurants. The host and owner are fantastic—so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!
