Hawks Hideaway offers 8 campsites suitable for tents of all sizes, many of which can accommodate two or more tents (additional fees may apply). We also have a large, unfurnished teepee, and are working on a cozy, furnished country cottage. (ETA Sept 25). Large trailers and RVs are NOT allowed.
Nearby activities include: bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, stargazing, and rockhounding. This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our beautiful skys. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.
We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead.
There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.
You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. Please do not interact with any wild animals. If you encounter something and need help, please reach out to us. We live on the property and are readily available.

What to expect:
We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote.
We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible.
We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time.
Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free.

Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.
You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. Please do not interact with any wild animals. If you encounter something and need help, please reach out to us. We live on the property and are readily available.

What to expect:
We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote.
We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible.
We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time.
Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free.

No detail has gone overlooked and your every need has been anticipated. Highly recommend. We will definitely come back. Karl and Toni were such great hosts. We tent camped on their cement slab with artifical grass. The place was well kept with an outside kitchen and plenty of tables to sit and relax. They had games to play and the pool was refreshing and clean. Movies on Friday and Saturday by the pool and a Vegan food truck with delicious food reasonable priced.

Favorite campsite ever! Gary and Daren were so nice and welcoming when entering the property. SO much land to explore. The river was beautiful. Highly recommend if you are near Sedona area!!

The folks that run Camp Saguaro are friendly, engaged with the campers, and genuinely care. They played Easter Bunny and hid Easter eggs throughout the camp for everyone to find... What a hoot!!
The facilities are clean and well maintained. I look forward to coming back again.

First Hip Camp stay was a a success! Adorable small campsite that has a ton of amazing touches. There's a communal fire pit, clean restrooms, and a variety of yard games. I stayed over Easter and woke up to hidden easter eggs around the campsite/grounds. Anyone passing through Tucson I would 10/1 recommend this stay! Only thing is the specific Flying Jewels site didn't have a ton of shade if you're traveling during a hotter time.

Gary and Darren's place is great and very well designed. Beautiful views, lots of places to sit around the camp, great shower and bathroom, a community room offering coffee, tea, snacks, and just about anything you really need or want.
They are super nice guys too.
We didnt have time to go to the water but we did enjoy a nice fire. I would go back.

If I could give this six stars out of five I would. The team of hosts here were so welcoming and so helpful. Our campsite was the magical mushroom and it was just so already and such a nice vibe to the whole area. We were just so comfortable just sitting out in our Adirondack chairs, sipping our coffee in the morning and listening to the birds and watching the quail dart around. All the facilities were unexpectedly clean and well maintained. We really loved being able to have so much of the desert habitat surrounding us so that we could enjoy the experience as if we were camping in the desert with all the comforts of a campground. It was generally quiet at night as far as people are concerned, but we could hear the coyotes yipping and the dogs yipping back at times, which I actually thought was pretty nice. We had woodpeckers and doves serenading us off and throughout today. It's the desert of Arizona so it does get hot, but we found the shade to be quite pleasant. You needed an emergency item. Also some nice local art for sale. I think the hosts, including Michelle, Kim and Sherry really just made it feel like we were loved and welcomed. They even put Easter eggs out across the campground for Easter. Tell Kelly who does that! Yes, six stars out of five.

We stayed in the adobe house, was perfect for 4 of us. Clean and very cute home.
The staff were so friendly, and the Easter bunny even showed up to camp to hide eggs all over.
Great price for the value. Awesome common area with lots of games, clean bathrooms, and hot showers. Beautifully decorated/landscaped camp with friendly and fun vibe.
Great location, 5 min drive to West Saguaro National Park.

The views from this place are outstanding!! Celia was so gracious in keeping me informed about our arrival and stay. Stephen came by later just to check on us. From my 10 minute conversation, I can easily say what a wonderful human being he is! Unfortunately I didn’t meet Celia, but can image the same as Stephen.
The spaces are close to each other, but because of the sun shades and table and chairs, they do t feel crowded. It also wasn’t full when we were there.

A delightful, mellow, well-equipped, beautifully designed place, managed with great care by Mary and her colleagues. The yurt with musical instruments and the fire circles were especially nice extra amenities. Short half mile walk to town.
