Hawks Hideaway offers 8 campsites suitable for tents of all sizes, many of which can accommodate two or more tents (additional fees may apply). We also have a large, unfurnished teepee, and are working on a cozy, furnished country cottage. (ETA Sept 25). Large trailers and RVs are NOT allowed.
Nearby activities include: bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, stargazing, and rockhounding. This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our beautiful skys. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.
We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead.
There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.
You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. Please do not interact with any wild animals. If you encounter something and need help, please reach out to us. We live on the property and are readily available.

The well stocked kitchen has all the cookware and utensils you'll need for cooking, a propane range, as well as a cooler for your use (bring ice). A gas barbecue is on site as well. The wood stove kicks out a ton of heat to keep you toasty while you sip on steamy hot chocolate that is provided for your enjoyment. Gather around the propane operated firepit in the backyard for some R&R. Bring a hammock 'cuz there are unlimited opportunities for stringing one up! Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. If that's not enough check this out:(a) it's just 5 miles to the Arizona Nordic Center for incredible cross country ski trails(b) it's just 18 miles to Snowbowl for chairlift rides or world class skiing(c) it's just 20 miles to the hip town of Flagstaff for fantastic restaurants, golfing, shopping, coffee shops and museums(d) it's just 60 miles to historic Williams with the Bearizona wildlife park and the popular Grand Canyon Railway(e) it's just 55 miles to the world famous Grand Canyon. (g) and last but not least, it's right next to the Kendrick Snowmobile Trails, which offers 54 miles of unbeatable snowmobile adventures! The property is located approximately 2.1 miles off the main highway down a forest service road. The road is in excellent shape during the summer months. During winter you MUST have a 4WD vehicle to access the property, particularly if there has been a significant snowfall recently. During a snowy period, access may require either cross country skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling to the property from the main highway (approx 2.1 miles). If you get stuck on the road it will be your own responsibility. Please check with the owner a couple days prior to your visit to check on road conditions during the winter!
Pets must be well behaved and cleaned up after, including excessive animal hair. Leash laws apply to Coconino National Forest. Please do not book the Glamper Cabin if you plan to bring a pet which is known to be aggressive or unpredictable in nature, including breeds or mixed breeds such as pitbulls, rottweilers, bullmastiff and American Bulldog. What to expect:
We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote.
We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible.
We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time.
Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free.

If you’re even thinking about booking with Gary and Daren, do it. They are, without question, some of the best hosts we’ve ever had.
We stayed at both their Hipcamp site and their VRBO, and everything exceeded our expectations. Their property is absolutely beautiful, with private creek access that makes it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Whether you want a peaceful retreat or an adventure-filled trip, this is an incredible home base.
Gary and Daren go above and beyond in every possible way. They have fantastic recommendations for hiking, restaurants, and exploring Sedona, and their local knowledge made our trip so much better. In fact, I’m pretty sure Gary saved me from becoming one with the Arizona desert when he insisted I borrow one of his umbrellas before we headed out on a trail. I laughed at first…then spent the entire hike incredibly grateful for his advice! That umbrella made all the difference.
Their hospitality is truly unmatched. They think of everything, they genuinely care that you have a wonderful stay, and somehow they even managed to do our dishes. It’s the kind of thoughtful, effortless kindness that makes you feel less like a guest and more like a friend.

1 night at Camp Land Beyond Zion
We had such a wonderful stay at Land Beyond Zion! Everything on the property was incredibly clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully cared for. You can really tell Tiffany and Gill put a lot of love into creating a welcoming and homey environment.
One of the highlights of our trip was the hot tub and chatting with Tiffany and Gill. In addition, the stars at camp were also absolutely breathtaking and made for a peaceful, memorable evening.
We were so grateful that Tiffany and Gill were able to accommodate a last-minute upgrade from our campsite to the yurt on the day of our arrival. We really appreciated their flexibility and kindness.
They were warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The property is also in a fantastic location near Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Tiffany even shared a few recommendations for places to explore.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely stay here again, for longer. Thank you, Tiffany and Gill, for your incredible hospitality:)

This campground is full of eclectic artwork and community spaces, in a beautiful setting. It's a great jumping off point or base for exploring the nearby National Parks or rec areas.
Tiffany is a joy to talk to and has thousands of travel stories. This campground is run with love and spirit. The hosts have big plans and we all will benefit

We tent camped here for 5 nights & absolutely LOVED this site and 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay out this way! We loved it so much we ended up staying an extra night! Tiffany & Gil are amazing and so welcoming! The view of the sunsets and the moon rising over the mesa were incredible! The full kitchen was great & the hot tub was added bonus after hiking all day. We visited Zion, Bryce Canyon, North Rim Grand Canyon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Red Cliffs National Conservation Park, Snow Canyon State Park & Gooseberry Mesa which were all within/less than 90min away! So glad we decided to stay here and will hopefully be back one day but regardless we made amazing memories that we'll always have!

2 nights at The Outpost Grand Canyon
We stayed in the Premium Airstream and it was unreal!! 2 nights felt like we had lived there for months. It was so calm & quiet - and privacy was such a plus. Enjoyed the hot tub both nights looking up at the stars. Unreal experience! The airstream is so spacious & cozy and had everything we needed. Chris was great with anything we inquired about and always around if we had questions. Also sunset viewing was a big bonus… pure silent sunsets. Perfect way to reset. We’ve always told many friends about it and how it’s 10000% worth to stay there. Great for anyone wanting to go to the Grand Canyon but not be in a busy or cramped area.

I really a really great stay here! Locked myself out right when I got there, but the staff was helpful and quick to respond to my needs. The airstream was clean and cozy. Brought my baby husky with and she enjoyed time playing at the on site dog park. Had great nights sitting in the hot tub and gazing at the night skies, 10/10 for service and amenities and will definitely be back soon!!

We absolutely loved our stay at Land Beyond Zion! From the moment we arrived, it was clear how much care and thought Tiffany and Gil have put into creating such a special place. The property is truly beautiful, well-maintained, and surrounded by incredible scenery.
Tiffany and Gil were so kind, welcoming, and genuinely caring. They made us feel right at home and were wonderful and helpful hosts throughout our stay.
Everything was exceptionally clean and well kept, and the campsite had every amenity we could have hoped for and then some. You can tell they take great pride in their property, and it shows in every detail!
This was easily one of our favorite camping stays, and we would love to come back again someday. Thank you, Tiffany and Gil, for sharing your beautiful space with us!!

Decent campground close to Monument Valley. Hosts were very friendly on arrival. Nice tables under shade which were welcome in the hot weather. Very quiet and great for stargazing. Toilets are pretty basic outhouses but otherwise the perfect spot

It was an absolute treat staying here with Tiffany and Gil! We were treated with utmost importance and they accommodated our every need. Their facility is super fun and have a variety of options for everyone, we can't wait to see them develop it more. Sandee was so welcoming, and the hipcamp was very easy to find with the location she provided. The house is very cool with an amazing view of the stars around midnight/1am. I could see the Milky Way!! 10/10 would recommend.

2 nights at Gypsy’s Cottage
Our family couldn’t get over how cute this cabin was! There were so many charming and creative details. It definitely has a rustic feel, but never once felt cheap or thrown together. It is all so well constructed and intentional. A cute little gas cook top that functioned perfectly, convection oven, fridge, AC, fire pit, 2 showers, amazing views… We definitely plan to stay again and Russel was great and so easy to work with. 10 out of 10. We were honestly surprised he didn’t charge more for it.
