Crakemoor Campsite
From the start, a sturdy car with excellent tyres is needed for the trek to the campsite which is quite a distance but you travel through some beautiful countryside. Arrival was a pitch wherever.
Two chemical toilets, we were there for 4 days, day 4 after weekend arrivals they were utterly disgusting, soiled with poo, zero loo roll for two days, no water for hand washing, luckily had our own loo and cleansing wipes.
The views are spectacular in every direction, the sunrises and sunsets we were lucky enough to see were breathtaking. On our visit we had lots of rain. We pitched on the flat part which had been done for a wedding the previous year? Not sure why as it was on a hill, but drainage issues, it was totally waterlogged. Owners said to park on the track away from the tent because the vehicles were raking up the earth, sorry but I am not getting ready to go out to wade through a muddy field to the car when it was advertised as parking by the tent, if they did this again they would have to invest in a track as we used the car for the electrics as well.
You also have to take your own rubbish home, not good, simply had no room for it so had to dump it in one of the bins in smaller bags that they have along the road. and was told to bring our own water, I did, 20 litres, but they had water!
As there were no distinct boundaries, we had someone pitch a tent very close with their tent entrance right at the side of ours. This would not be so bad but they had two very noisy, nosey children who were constantly walking in front of our tent looking in, they ran in between the car and tent so ripped the lead out of the engine, they screamed, shouted, cried and never shut up. The other things were not so bad, toilet issues, waterlogged but this incessant annoyance totally spoiled our trip. It is by far and away a beautiful place to camp, just a couple of things need attention, as stated, toilet, waterlogged pitch, drainage issues, track up to the actual camping site and some noise policy in relation the music and children.

Great price with amazing views and very relaxed site, no set pitches and large field so not on top of each other.
Met the owner briefly on check in and seemed friendly and helpful.
Decent location for walks, we did one the three peaks which isn't too far away and not far from the lovely town of Settle.
Unfortunately we had the joys of the British weather this weekend and the field, especially at the bottom where the parking is, became a bog. This made it very unpleasant when unloading and loading the gear from the car to the top of the pitch area. Also made it unpleasant when using the toilets and shower area, having to then trek back through the mud to the tent.
New site and would return in the future when more established however needs a little work to compete with other pop up sites we have used over the years.

Crakemoor Campsite
A beautiful spot, undoubtedly ... but given this was an official Hipcamp site I would have expected there to be a sink to was dishes and tap water to drink (however we were given some by the host after I asked where to get it from.) Also there was no space incorporated within the shower to change, and no rubbish bins. Perhaps the couple / family who have opened up their field to Hipcamp campers just need to be advised about a few extra things they need to do for it to be fully ready.
