🌊 Norfolk Coast Path Camping & Glamping: Holme-next-the-Sea Norfolk Coast Path Camping & Glamping provides a tranquil, back-to-basics coastal escape in one of North Norfolk’s most secluded villages. Located on a spacious 5-acre meadow, the site is perfectly situated for those seeking adventure, peace, and wide-open skies. 📍 Proximity to Path and Beach The site's primary draw is its location at the junction of two major walking routes: the Norfolk Coast Path and the Peddars Way. Beach Access: The secluded golden sands of Holme-next-the-Sea Beach (home of the historic Sea Henge) are a short 10-minute walk away. This highly special location allows guests to witness a rare spectacle on the East Coast: sunsets over the sea, followed by incredible stargazing under the vast, dark Norfolk skies. Hiking Base: The campsite is an ideal base for hikers, cyclists, and birdwatchers, with easy access to wild areas like the Holme Dunes Nature Reserve and RSPB Titchwell Marsh. 🐕 Dog-Friendly & Local Life The site is dog-friendly, welcoming well-behaved companions in all camping and glamping units. The coastal path offers miles of walking, and Holme Beach is vast and dog-friendly. Local Businesses & Activities: The site is close to the village centre, putting you near welcoming local pubs and shops for essential supplies and dining. Nearby coastal towns like Hunstanton (3 miles) and the harbours at Brancaster offer opportunities for watersports (paddleboarding, kitesurfing) and sampling local seafood (like the famous Crab Hut). 🔥 Back-to-Basics & Space Under the Stars The campsite embraces a rustic, back-to-basics philosophy focused on the outdoor experience: Accommodation: Pitches are available for tents, campervans, motorhomes, and caravans. Glamping options include cosy Shepherd's Huts and Bell Tents. Units often benefit from seclusion and privacy on the 5-acre meadow. Campfires: Campfires and BBQs are encouraged and allowed, with glamping units providing dedicated fire pits/braziers. Facilities: Amenities are designed to be simple, clean, and functional, including flushable toilets, shower blocks, and fresh water. The site offers a pure, authentic outdoor retreat blending simple facilities with a prime coastal location.

Spacious grass pitches in the green Essex countryside A 15-minute drive to Chelmsford; 40 minutes to Audley End Tractor rides on site; firepits provided for campfires. Rural walks, How about proper farm activities like tractor rides (ask site staff for details)? The place to find all this is The Meadow at Waples Mill, an Essex farm site between Chelmsford and Dunmow (and about 15 minutes’ drive from both). This family-friendly site is handy for walks on the Essex Way and other local footpaths, and tractor and trailer rides around the farm are organised on alternate days to give guests a glimpse into agricultural life. Activities complete for the day, it's time to chill out, and that should be easy here – all pitches have access to toilets and hot showers in a trailer close by, and firepits are provided so you can have a safe campfire (with wood available to buy on site and a great farm shop 10 minutes’ drive away for fireside snacks). Pitches themselves are large (please note only one tent per pitch is allowed), well kept and well spaced within a meadow that backs onto the River Roding. Dogs are welcome, and there are plenty of places to take them for a walk nearby. London folk looking for a quick escape to the countryside, this is a place to bear in mind – it’s only about an hour and quarter by road from the city.

We are a pop-up site at a Norfolk working farm just outside the Broads National Park. BeWILDerwood Norfolk is just a 10 minute drive away and we are 15 minutes from the coast. We are home to a microbrewery with a taproom on site. A pop-up campsite with a microbrewery on site? Sounds like a fine setup, right? Well, that’s what you’ll get at The Farm Camping! This is a handy location for all sorts of activities, including walking or boating around the Broads, hitting the beaches of the north coast or spending time fishing, horse riding or cycling. The nearest pub is a 10 minute walk away – but you won’t have to go that far if you don’t want to, as the farm is home to the Wildcraft Brewery, which has a taproom in one of the traditional red-brick barns (and picnic tables outside for an alfresco drink on a sunny day). As a pop-up site the facilities here are fairly simple, but you’ll have access to toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a wifi connection, and you’re welcome to bring a barbecue for your meals. Dogs, families and groups are all welcome.

East Anglia camping guide

Where to go

Norfolk

Sandy shores, fish & chips, and brightly painted beach huts await along the Norfolk coast. Head to Great Yarmouth, Hunstanton, or Cromer for a British beach break, and admire the seals lounging on the beach at Blakeney Point. The Broads National Park is another must—explore miles of wetlands by bike, canoe, or boat, looking out for rare birds and wildlife along the way.

Cambridgeshire

With its history and picturesque parklands, Cambridge is a worthy headline act, but there’s more to Cambridgeshire than its university. Punting along the River Cam is the quintessential activity, perhaps combined with a walk or bike ride through the marshes. Campers have options too, whether you prefer a tranquil caravan park or glamping in yurts and tipis.

Suffolk

Lowland forest and heathlands stretch through the Suffolk countryside, affording ideal terrain for walking, cycling, and camping. Further east, Lowestoft and Southwold are Suffolk’s flagship resorts, but you’ll find sandy beaches and seaside camping all along the coast. Fans of horse racing should include a pitstop in Newmarket, home of the National Stud.

Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire

Just north of London, travellers come to Hertfordshire for the Harry Potter Warner Bros Studio tour and stick around to play a game of golf, go horseback riding, or visit a country estate. To the north, Bedfordshire is home to the ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, Dunstable Downs, and  Woburn Safari Park, making it a great destination for family camping holidays. Choose a campsite near a train station and hop into the capital for a day trip.

Essex

Essex boasts plenty of natural assets. Head to Epping Forest for woodland walks and glamping in the heart of the forest, walk or cycle through Dedham Vale, or enjoy bird-watching in the Rainham Marshes. Along the coast, the seaside resorts of Southend-on-Sea and Clacton-on-Sea are buzzing with beachgoers in the summer months.

Top 10 Things to Do in East Anglia

  1. Build sandcastles on the beaches of North Norfolk.
  2. Go seal watching at Blakeney Point.
  3. Catch a crab from Cromer, Sheringham, Walberswick, or Felixstowe.
  4. Stroll down the pier at Southwold.
  5. Eat fresh fish and chips.
  6. Hire a kayak or canoe and explore The Broads.
  7. Recreate Constable’s most famous painting, The Haywain, in Dedham Vale.
  8. Visit a medieval village or market town.
  9. Climb a tree in Thetford Forest.
  10. Walk through Fenland.
