This riverside campsite offers a mixed experience. Many guests appreciated the beautiful location and the chance for kids to interact with roaming farm animals, which created a relaxed and rustic atmosphere. However, issues with cleanliness and facility maintenance were frequently mentioned, with some guests reporting dirty toilets and a lack of drinking water. Interactions with the host, Morag, varied significantly, with some guests praising her warmth and others criticizing her for being dismissive.

We travelled as a group of four families with children age 4-9, we had asked in advance about booking as a group. Good bit: the area was lovely and there was a great deal to do for children by the river with lots of little boats and kayaks and a nice big sandpit. However, there were multiple problems. It was dirty with small bits of litter everywhere and no bins. My daughter cut her hand on a broken mug she found, for instance. The toilet block was cleaned once in our stay, with almost no toilet paper on arrival, and seems to be new but unfinished, with basins not yet installed in the toilets for instance, and was over a bridge from the main camp area with a man with a big dog living in a caravan next to it; it didn’t always feel safe to visit. The planned activities didn’t occur, the animals were around us at all times when we were eating including trying, and succeeding, at eating our food. The owner wasn’t there when we arrived to orientate us; she was responsive via telephone call but challenging to communicate with, suggesting any concerns were of our own making. If this goes in similar patterns to other negative Google reviews we will no doubt get negative feedback in return for our group, but this must be our 12th or more camping trip together usually as a larger group and we have always been given good reviews and invited back. I would highly recommend reading all the negative Google reviews - there is none that I would dispute.

Our stay at this campsite was extremely disappointing. We arrived on 29 August, having paid £20 for early check-in, only to find another guest already waiting after being unable to contact the owner, Morag. When she arrived, there was no welcome and she appeared surprised to see us. The main issue was the facilities. The toilets and showers were poorly maintained, with inadequate lighting, doors that didn't lock properly, and toilets that repeatedly became blocked, filled with faeces and overflowed. The kitchen consisted of little more than a sink supplied by a hose, raising concerns about hygiene and access to suitable drinking water. Despite this, we tried to enjoy our stay. The riverside location is beautiful, we enjoyed fishing, and our son loved using the kayaks. The site itself has great potential. The following day, the toilets overflowed again. When my husband politely raised the issue, Morag dismissed our concerns. The situation then escalated. Morag confronted me and told me to "get off my land", "I don't like fucking idiots" and "fuck off bitch". We were then told to leave. Most concerning was being told that a refund would only be provided if we agreed not to leave a review. We felt this was wholly inappropriate and an attempt to discourage honest feedback. Basic campsites are one thing; overflowing toilets and hostility towards guests raising legitimate issues are another. PLEASE CHECK GOOGLE REVIEWS.
