Spring Hill Wild Camping
The space is really beautiful and the views are great. It has very basic amenities but it’s the kind of place I like. Being next door to the animals was also a great and entertaining bonus. It’s a short walk to the local village entirely down forest paths if you wish, with a fantastic pub.
It’s a particularly nice place to stay out of season when the autumn colours settle in.

Lovely site to do real camping with a proper fire, not in a tiny square pitch hemmed in on all sides by other people. The owner was very welcoming and if it all goes wrong, there’s a pub a short walk away. This wasn’t our first visit and we will come back again.

We had a lovely overnight stop here! We don’t live too far away, but it’s a lovely and peaceful campsite to enjoy some time outdoors. The facilities were kept very clean and tidy! The host came to greet us and checked we had everything we needed. We booked to stay the next weekend we enjoyed so much!

We loved Spring Hill Camping, really just the relaxed simplicity that we look for in a campsite. Nice scrubby meadow with loads of wildlife, there were red kites flying regularly over the field and there was a resident hare that we saw in the evenings. Beautiful view, just what we needed.
We really liked the compost toilets, maybe needed a little tlc but thought the colours were cute and were glad 'who gives a crap' tp was used! We had an issue with a large gang of men camping right next to us and being noisy til 1am (basically whole rest field was empty). Would maybe have appreciated a check with that kind of group that they were camping a little distance from family tents. But tbh we didn't actually let Nicholas know at the time, as we didn't get back to the field til 9 it felt too late to do anything. Also perhaps a little pricey considering it's very basic.
Other than those few points, we absolutely loved our stay at Spring Hill, and would happily come again. Our 4 year old daughter absolutely loved it, and we really enjoyed the company of the llamas (or alpacas?) Thank you so much!

As you elevate yourself to one of the highest points in the area you are greeted with the campsite. Friendly staff, flexible plots and a very rustic vibe. Lots of space and all vehicles are kept away from the camping plots. If you are for a bit of adventure, with great views and heard of alpacas you will love it!

I loved spending time on Nick's land, so peaceful with a stunning view across the hills. Added bonus of spotting my first ever glow-worms among the long grasses!! It was magical. Nick was very helpful and accommodating. The facilities are basic but absolutely fine, you can shower for free at Chieveley Services up the road if you need to! Great that all pitches have fire pits so no extra charge for hiring a raised pit, just cost of firewood very reasonable £5 bucket which did me for 2 fires. Only recommendation is bring a bag of kindling, I didn't realise there wasn't enough smaller stuff in the bucket to get big logs going so was a bit of a test for my bushcraft skills but got there eventually 😄

Really nice spot, not too far from London. Facilities are basic but as expected. St Mary's Bourne is a super nice village only a few minutes walk away, pub drink and pizza are 👌

Great, basic camping within 10min walk of a pub, and open in winter. No showers, but compost loos. No running water in January as it is powered by solar, but luckily we brought some water. Firewood was supplied for £5 a bucket, and the pitches are equipped with fire pits. Alpacas are very cute!

Unfortunately I haven't seen the host but the place is beautiful. Be careful the last few meters are hard to make with a 2 weel drive.
Spectacular place with toilets and camping accomodation like tables and benches. I would certainly recommend it to any campers.

Absolutely gorgeous location, with far reaching views wildlife and the most lovely meadow to camp in. Nicholas wasn't on site when we arrived but we gave him a call and he was there in 10 minutes. You can't drive to your pitch, you have to take luggage in a wheelbarrow so do bear this in mind.
Only downside was the loos, I have used a few compost loos (my family have a similar campsite with compost loos as well which I have helped out with) and don't mind them at all, but these ones we a bit smelly and messy and could do with more regular checks and cleans. They were also very small which made it hard to use and felt a bit crowded.

Had a very lovely stay at this campsite, you leave the car in the little car park by the entrance and it’s a small walk to the field, there are benches and fire pits available, it feels like wild camping so it’s really good to just break away without having to travel as far as wales or the Lake District. There’s running water but it’s untreated so bring a filter such as LifeStraw or bottled water for the stay. There’s a toilet for number 1 and a few for number 2, it’s a wild camp site so don’t expect too much from those.
I went on a weekday and was the only one on site, will definitely come back! Thanks for having me

Very nice host! The views were gorgeous and very peaceful. There is a nice pub about a 10min walk away. Having a campfire in the evening made the trip and the camp wood was only £5! Would definitely come back again.

A great site for people who want an authentic wild camping experience. The location is excellent with beautiful views over the valley and a short walk to a great shop, cafe and pub.
Nicholas allowed us to hand feed the Alpacas, which was unexpected extra.
We were thankful to been given a plot with a wooden sleeping hut, which came in very useful as the weather was particularly challenging and our tent leaked.
Best memories were the huge rainbow that appeared and the view of the stars.
Having an early check in/late check out and being allowed to have fires is a big plus.
Thank you Nicholas and family, we will be back.

It's a really nice site. The views are stunning, not too many pitches and there's a great pub only 5-10 min walk away.
Nicholas kindly came round each evening to offer fire wood. The loos are basic but who cares, that's all part of the charm of the place. Would certainly visit again.
