These sites are a 300 yard walk down a short, moderately steep, hill from the parking area and facilities at the Headwaters Campground. Small flat pads for tents and chairs have been cut beneath the oaks with meadow views. The walk-in campsites have full access to the showers, bathrooms, communal cooking space in the Headwaters campground as well as all the trails on property. It is not recommended to have pets at the walk in sites. Hi had a fantastic stay at Red Tail Ranch. Robb is an excellent host, the facilities were great (very funky outdoor shower!), easy hookup for the van and the decking was a bonus. Great location for Yosemite Valley. The ranch in itself was a treat, trails to walk on, loads of birds, wildflowers and all sorts of critters. Make sure you read the details for the directions carefully as Google Maps doesn’t quite take you to the junction, but once you found that, the ranch is really well signposted. I highly recommend Robb’s RV site and I hope to return one day myself.

First Hipcamp Stay…won’t be my last

Pine Siskin camp

I tent camped at Red Tail Ranch and had an absolutely wonderful time. It’s an obviously perfect jump off location for Yosemite National Park. I stayed at Pine Siskin which was level and had some nearby trees. It’s a short trip to the kitchen and garbage drop off. The kitchen has a great commercial sink and will keep you out of the rain and bugs while cooking. There’s a stainless steel prep table which I used plenty. By the way, no need to bring plastic water bottles filled with “purified spring water.” The water here is tasty and cold. The outdoor showers have plenty of hot water and are wonderful after a long day of exploring the park. Flush toilets are great and facilities are very clean. This is barely roughing it, even in a tent. The property is 90 acres of Sierra Foothills beauty and Robb is a fantastic and knowledgeable host. I will definitely stay here again, and I encourage you do the same!

One of our favorite Hipcamps!

Site was gorgeous, hookups were some of the best we’ve had (how they were situated). We overlooked the gorgeous natural area and watched the sun set over it each night. Top-notch facilities including very, very clean real working toilets, outdoor showers and more facilities. Great Hipcamp signage! Other items of note - we ate at Tangled Hearts Cafe and highly recommend it for any meal - great fresh, local food. In addition to enjoying Yosemite, we walked one of the paths in the nearby Stanislaus National Forest which allows leashed dogs on trail and loved it. We were really able to relax and enjoy Robb’s property! He is a fantastic, responsive and very knowledgeable host who knows Yosemite intimately! We are already trying to figure out how to come back….

Great Spring Break destination!!

We spent 4 nights at Robb’s campsite over Easter with our two kids (8 and 2), and had such a great time! Robb is a fantastic host—super friendly, helpful, and clearly loves sharing his beautiful slice of nature. The site is peaceful, on private land surrounded by trees and wildlife, and it felt really safe and relaxing for our family. The bathrooms were clean, and all the hookups worked perfectly. It’s also conveniently located—about a 1-hour drive to the north entrance of Yosemite Valley, which made for easy day trips. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking to unwind in a quiet, natural setting close to Yosemite!

The kids loved exploring the property, the dogs enjoyed the gates dog area and the adults enjoyed the peace and quiet and the 20 ish minute drive to the gates of Yosemite. We used the common area for meals which was so nice having a space for all 10 of us to eat at one table. We traveled with 2 other families who also stayed here and this location was perfect for our group traveling together. Bathrooms were clean, the outdoor showers were refreshing. We saw deer and turkey walking the property in the morning. Hookups were easy, getting level was simple, and the owner was so nice. He stopped by offering first hand advice on what to do in the area and made us feel right at home. Highly recommended Hipcamp!

Perfect Yosimite gathering place

We used this site for a gathering place for our visit to Yosimite. We used the 2 RV sites and the neighboring tent site. The communal areas made for the perfect setting for group meals and hand out zone for audiotapes and kids (age 6-13). The shared areas were close and easily an accessible. The bathroom and showrooms were very clean and well maintained. We traveled with dogs and the dog run was great. Easily accessible and very large, making it easy to burn energy and relax. Location made access to Yosimite a breeze and was perfect for evening relaxation after a day in the part. Would recommend for family and group gathering, the host was cool, we felt like this was a home away from home. Very relaxing.

Ideal spot for a Yosemite visit

This was the perfect stay for our Yosemite trip, only about 20 minutes to get to the gate . We stayed in our 28ft travel trailer (easy to park) and had the most relaxing and peaceful time! Full hookups, beautiful property and even a place for the dogs to run in a gated area. We ate meals at the table in the covered barn area and gazed at the night sky enjoying the peace and quiet. The owner stopped by for a hello a few times and was so helpful to offer advice on seeing the area and to answer any questions. The outdoor showers were great the restroom were well kept. We really enjoyed this place and would recommend it for groups traveling together. We had 2 other families we were traveling with and they had the spots next to us and we all enjoyed it so much!

This is a lovely space and perfect for a Yosemite adventure. We met friends and used the 2 RV spots and the neighboring tent site. The communal areas were perfect for gathering and the kids had plenty of space to roam and explore the grounds are well maintained. The owner could not have been more welcoming and respectful. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the property and the surrounding communities. Showers and bathrooms were very clean and functional. We traveled with dogs and the pen was perfect, large enough to burn energy and easily accessible.

We had a great stay over a few days at Headwaters #2 site. Beautiful location. The deck was nice amenity to have for this site. use of kitchen was super nice too! and the covered community space with table and chairs Showers have a great view of the night sky. One shower was lower pressure which worked out great for my partner and I as I prefer a higher water pressure.

We absolutely loved our stay at Red Tail Ranch. We rented one of the RV spaces which was beautiful- lots of wildflowers, deer, and jackrabbits! Great bathroom and shower facilities we didn’t need, but really nice to have. Only about 30 minutes to the entrance of Yosemite but still many great trails around. Have already recommended it to a friend and cannot wait to stay again soon! Thanks, Robb!

We loved staying at this property! From the beginning, Robb, the host, was extremely quick on responding to any inquiries we had. When being there he checked in to make sure we were comfortable. Highly recommended! 10/10 experience. Robb’s campgrounds are lovely, with everything an RV can ask for. From hook ups, to a very clean bathroom; all was there. The campground is quite, well spaced and surrounded by beautiful nature. However, what makes this place even more special is Robb himself. We had a problem with our RV (a leaking generator…) and Robb came immediately to give us helping hand. Unfortunately the generator could not be fixed and the fumes were quite strong. Robb offered a private room for us for the night and would not except any reimbursement. He really saved the day for us and we could not be more grateful. Go stay at Robb’s!

Great campsite! There’s a communal area to eat, and a sink for washing up. Facilities (toilets and hot outdoor showers) were clean. We arrived after dark so it was hard to find our lot but managed to pull our campervan into the walk-in bay for the night with no problem.

Will definitely be returning, very peaceful and Robb is a pleasure. Gives plenty of privacy. Trails are well marked and not overly cut back. Rob keeps the property as close to natural as possible. Looking forward to see the spring bloom. WIFI is strong which would allow my wife to work while I relax. She telecommutes, I must be on job sites. Thank you Rob, looking forward to see you again.

Cooper's Hawk Camp

Beautiful area and nice amenities for a campground. Definitely recommended if you are unable to get a spot in yosemite as it was close and an easy beautiful drive to enter into the park.
