Very cozy place tucked away in the mountains right in between Yosemite and Sequoia National parks. Great place to base your visits to either park. Hosts were great and communicated well. Limited tent spots but the facilities were exactly what a weary traveller needs. Hot showers, good wifi, ample kitchen and close to shopping. I was only planning to stay the one night but decided to stay one more night to enjoy the comforts. BBQ joint down the street is walkable and has amazing food. Be sure to get there early or they'll be all sold out of brisket. The outlaw potato is dope! 100% would stay at the Jackass Hostel again, and recommend to anyone travelling through the area. If you girls get some bumper stickers made up lemme know I'd love to add it to the growing collection on my bike.

Jackass Hostel Campsite
Camped out back, tiny but flat tent pad. Directions were a bit tough in the dark but figured it out. In the morning had a nice shower and enjoyed the fresh coffee and chatted up some fellow travelers. It’s basically the backyard of a small hostel, safe and not bad in a pinch and the facilities were really nice.

Jackass Hostel was perfect! It felt very homey! We had a flat place to put up our tent, the home had everything we needed to cook our dinner and breakfast, and the showers were nice! We were fortunate to meet some very nice fellow travelers and it was a very nice evening of relaxation! Would definitely come back if we visit the area again.

Jackass Hostel Campsite
My husband and I enjoyed the relaxed feel of the hostel and the land. After camping in the woods for the previous few days, it was wonderful to have such a clean and accessible kitchen and bathroom. We especially liked reading through the guide books that were provided, and being greeted by the friendly neighbor cat. The instructions were all helpful and clear on using the house and land. We had a great stay!

Tent camping at the Jackass was great! I never met the hosts directly but their instructions and signage at the property was plenty enough! Flat ground perfect for the tent. I even had a little bit of Wi-Fi at the tent site so that was nice. Cabin was fully stocked and clean! Was great to be able to use a real bathroom!!

Lovely campsite! Beautiful setting, quiet and peaceful, soft ground for the tent, outdoor seating around campfire, fairy lights. Also access to the hostel which has beautiful and clean kitchen and bathrooms, and a wonderful communal lounge area. Perfect for hanging out if it's cold in the evenings in winter/spring. We were coming from having stayed in Yosemite but others we met who were staying hostel were using it as a base to do day visits to Yosemite which it would be perfect for. There's a complimentary drink on arrival, fruit bowl, some basic breakfast foods, books, and Yosemite hiking guides. Easy check in process. Only stayed one night, but I hope to come back again for a longer visit.

Heather &Kim left clear directions to the location . It was an easy find. There is no cel phone service with ATT but once you arrive there is a fast internet .

The camping was great! Two of us set up hammocks and we also set up one tent. Heather has made nice flat dirt landings for the tent sites. Having the amenities of the hostel itself was very nice. Getting the camping experience while also having access to a nice hot shower after a long day in Yosemite was perfect. One of the neighbors has a dog they leave outdoors that barks a lot but other than that (out of the host’s control) I have no complaints! They’ve clearly put a lot of thought into how to make the stay as hospitable as possible.

Jack and I loved staying at Jackass Hostel so much that we asked if we could stay a second night!! We talked with Kim who was very kind, genuine and accommodating. Loved learning about all the renovations they have done and more to come! It was really nice to have the camping experience in the backyard while still being able to use the bathrooms (showers!!), kitchen, common space & wifi. Jackass Hostel is a GEM. We will be coming back and bringing friends!!!
