We bought this 5 acre piece of property a few years ago and are slowly developing it to include tiny homes and a working farm. The canvas wall tent that we call Ponderosa is suitable for year round camping! The wood stove more than adequately heats the space. In the winter, bring your warm sleeping bags and sleep in comfort, in nature! Learn more about this land: Available all year round!  Ponderosa is a canvas wall tent with a wood burning stove to keep you warm in the winter.  It features off-grid camping tucked into a quiet little forest. The campsite is a semi-private space - the field and forest are shared with others who live and visit the property. A perfect place to escape the city and enjoy nature with your significant other. There is no cell reception or wifi! Read, write, play games, sleep and enjoy outdoor adventures. We provide firewood, a water jug, kettle, pot and pan as well as coffee maker (Bodem), enamel plates, utensils and cups for campers to use. The double bed has a camping mattress a foam topper and 2 pillows but you'll need to bring your own sleeping bags. We've got lots of wool blankets and a comforter on the bed for you. A short walk will take you to the Slocan Rail Trail. 50 kilometres of adventure through one of the most beautiful river valleys in British Columbia. Following the contours of the Slocan River, the trail makes its way from Slocan Lake to the Kootenay River.  For those who like road biking, the roads to the west of the trail make for an easy add-on loop. There’s swimming and rafting in the river, watch for ospreys fishing and enjoy the quiet Slocan Valley.  Winter on the trail is magical for hiking or x-country skiing (it's regularly groomed!) Our property is also close to Vallhala Park for hiking and to Nelson for world-class mountain biking and skiing.  We have black bears in the area, you will need to be bear smart with respect to food and garbage storage. We have a shed up by our home that you can use for your garbage if necessary and there is also a fridge in which to store your food. We have a washer and dryer as well as a clawfoot bath tub in an outbuilding by our house up the hill from the tent. If you are interested in booking either of these offerings please let me know. Tenting on a Permaculture Farm
We had a great stay. The tent was stocked with everything we needed, even some complimentary coffee and tea to get us going in the morning. Everything in the tent was meticulously thought out, nothing was missing! Ryan was great and picked us some veggies for our departure. Martha was quick at responding to any questions or concerns we had. We had a great time. Thanks again :)

Gorgeous and spacious canvas tent!
Martha's canvas tent was fantastic for a little get away! It was so relaxing to get into nature and appreciate all of the bio diversity in the area - a foraging dream! The tent was spacious and equipped with cooking utensils and some drinking water. The outhouse composting toilet was well kept and pleasant. There's an outdoor fire pit as well as a wood stove to keep you toasty inside. They also provide a cooler for anything that you need to keep cold. The river is about a 10-20 min walk away and was too high and rough for swimming in, so if storm season has resulted in high water levels, bring a showering/bathing alternative!
