We are only 15 minuntes out of Oakdale CA but feels like you are in the middle of nowhere. Within 30 minutes of wineries, Gold Rush towns, rivers, lakes, casinos- so many experiences! Tranquility and adventure all in one. Yosemite- We are right on the way, (1.5 hrs to the East) and the Historic Knights Ferry (5 mins. to the West) Three lakes (Tulloch, Don Pedro and New Melones) are within 30 minutes as well. We have so many destinations within an hour of our campground- a list is provided at each site. Surrounded by volcanic rock, rolling hills, plateaus and cliffs high atop the Stanislaus River, this 80 acre property seems surreal in many ways. Each campsite is totally private and the 360 degree views offer delightful sunrises and sunsets, not to mention amazing stars at night. There is active wildlife on our property, a whole family of deer are residents of the area, and cotton tail rabbits and hawks are abundant. Come stay with us. A rare riparian oak woodland reaches the size of 258 acres near Ripon, California. This may not seem like a big deal, but it is. This type of dense forest once dominated California's natural landscape. Native Americans who once lived here gathered acorns among these ancient trees. By the early 1800s, Spanish explorers and fur trappers found this area teeming with abundant life.

These oak woodlands are rare due to human activities. Some trees need regular flooding to survive. Dams, forest removal, and less rainfall contribute to less water in the Stanislaus River.

Logging in the area certainly didn't help. This unique habitat needs to stay put because of the endangered species it protects. If you're lucky, you might see a riparian brush rabbit on your hike or in your campsite. These rare rabbits are found nowhere else on Earth.
