This is a secluded and quiet property tucked back off the road in the bush. Lots of room to roam, trees to relax under and let your dogs run. We have three dogs that roam the grounds and are a welcoming committee. We have lots of sites tucked into the greenery for privacy. We operate a vintage trailer restoration shop on site and have lots of interesting units around. There is firewood on property to purchase. We have a convenience station to wash dishes. Potable water and ice to purchase. We have showers outdoors with hot water. The newest addition to the property are two goats that think they are dogs and will greet you. We are on the boarder of a hiking trail that is accessible from the property. So if you’re looking for a hiking spot you can start here. Please message us for any special requests or questions you have. We are hosting a garage sale in coordination with the town of Wellesley June 6, 8am-1pm. There might be more visitors than usual that morning. If you’d like to come out for the sake you are more than welcome. Looking forward to a great camping season.

Our 2.5 acre property is located just outside the small village of Millbank. The large lawn area is great for camping, campfires, playing games and relaxing while watching the horse and buggies of the local Amish and Mennonites go ambling by in a manner that speaks to a time gone by. We have now added a Bunkie that can be booked for a more comfortable camping experience. The Perth Harvest Pathway section of the G2G rail trail is quite literally in the backyard. for hiking , bird watching and biking. We have an outdoor shower and large sink in a shed attached to the rear of our garage. It is easy to identify as it has a large white x on the door. Purchased in 1989, this small piece of heaven was developed by Peter & Suelaine Poot into a home for their family and beginning in 2003, a welcoming alpaca farm. The bush area has been used for camping by many local and visiting scouting groups over the years. In 2021, we joined Hip Camp and now allow others to enjoy the beauty, peace, and challenges of camping in our bush. The alpacas are a peaceful herd to watch as they graze their way through the day. Crias (baby alpacas), love to pronk and play in the pastures near their mothers. During May you may observe us shearing the alpacas. June is the birthing and breeding month. They birth quickly, so watch carefully. Tours of the farm with explanations of the fibre harvest process and opportunities to walk the alpacas are available to be booked through our website. This is a hidden Oasis just outside of the Waterloo and Guelph areas. There’s lots of other exciting things to do and see in the surrounding areas – great restaurants, breweries and wineries, golf courses, rivers, fishing, agri-tourism experiences, events and more. There is really something for everyone around here. We have a beautiful green acreage with a picturesque pond, next to Cox Creek and privacy with open and treed space and the promise of gorgeous sunsets almost every night. We are a short drive to Guelph Lake, the Elora Gorge, Guelph to Goderich rail trail, and a 25-minute drive to St Jacob's farmers market. And a 1.4 km walk to a small country market and bakery. A great site for families that you can call home and plan day trips around the area, or hang out at the campsite. Firewood is available for purchase on-site. We have 3 campsites that are spread out on 4 acres of grass. 1 site is used for temporary summer trailers, 2 are for camping. Pets are welcome, but keep them on a leash. Please remember to remove all garbage and recycling from campsites, a compost bin is available on site by the garden. A portable toilet is available from May 15 to the end of thanksgiving weekend in October. And please note that we are located beside an active rail line that is used by the Go Train, VIA Rail and freighters, there are trains that pass throughout the night. It was 1984 when John found his ‘diamond in the rough’, 20 acres with an orchard on the outskirts of Brantford. O.K., so the house was nothing to write home about but perfect for building a construction yard…no neighbors except for the family across the road that used their property to build log homes. By 1987 the old house was gone, a new one was being built and a shop for working on heavy equipment had been located about 200 ft. from Dr. the back door. It wasn’t until 1996 that things changed very much. Yes, the property around the house had benefitted from a wide array of trees and shrubs that John saved from the construction/demolition jobs he had done and that still thrive today but no big projects (except for equipment purchases) were ongoing. A chance meeting with the neighbor across the road one day resulted in the following dinner conversation, ‘How was your day’ I chirped. ‘Not bad, so-and-so didn’t come in; the truck broke down and I took it for repair; I bought the property across the road, and oh, yeah I’ll need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ was John’s casual reply. ‘What was that’? I pressed. ‘Yes, I need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ he repeated with a bit more volume. Of course like anyone, I had questions, ‘Do you want peas or corn with dinner’? ‘What time do you want to go to get the truck’? ‘The property across the road’, 10 acres, still has the 4 storey barn with its twin tiled silos which was built in 1914 and the big white house with wrap around porch that once was home to a Doctor and his family. Built so the Doctor could see his patients in the front with the family living in the back was very common in the day. Things remained relatively peaceful until 2000 when after studying alpacas for more than 6 years I bought our first three. Back in 2000 alpacas and llamas were not frequently seen on farms and because they could been seen from the road they received A LOT of attention. People driving by would stop and ask about them, ask if they could take a picture or two and that was when I would hear over and over again ‘You have a beautiful place here, I wish I/we could stay’. Well, if you want to visit and stay in the city it’s doable, we call it a hotel. But visiting a farm and staying well, that isn’t so easy. Each year we would see more and more families coming to ‘The Farm’ as they would call it. Some came to see the alpacas and horses, some came for a stroll and to check out the horse drawn milk and bread delivery wagons, some to have family birthday parties, others to have engagement/wedding/Christmas card pictures…and so many asked if there was any way they could spend a day or two. In 2021 during a conversation with a friend I mentioned we were in the process of gutting the 1100 sq. ft. space downstairs and turning it into an Airbnb! Right away she said, ‘I don’t know why you don’t have a Hipcamp? You’ve got that great area by the new barn that Hipcampers would love’! After a little investigation I found out what a Hipcamp was…and as they say, the rest is future.

My partner, dog and I stayed at Josh’s property on the Riverbend campsite with our little pop-up truck camper over the long weekend. Josh was super attentive, super friendly and his property was well-maintained. We did notice there was many other campsites on the property so there was a lot of other campers around. Typically we like to be quite secluded so this was a little crowded for our liking, but this beautiful spot made up for any noise or disruptions. This would be an amazing spot to camp with friends or with a larger group for sure!

This one of the best we’ve stayed at! Sunset was beautiful and the sunrise was magical. The spot is very private and well cared for. And what can one say about our host, Karen! She was an absolute pleasure. I was with my 22 year old son, and mom wanted us home, so we missed the tour. What a beautiful weekend at Pootcorners! While the farm was busier than normal with shearing and visitors, Suelaine, Peter and their entire family were always readily available and eager to allow us to join in on all the farm happenings. We were able to help with feedings, learn about the shearing process and even have a hands on experience going through the fibres. Highly recommend visiting!

3 nights at Hidden Oasis Near Elora

Laura’s property was exactly what we needed for our first time camping with our dog. We wanted to see how he would do sleeping in a tent and being off leash, and the space was perfect for that. The property is massive with plenty of room to run, explore, and even swim in the little creek nearby. The bathroom was such a nice touch! It is definitely not your typical outhouse experience. It was clean, well maintained, and had no smell at all. Although the other campsites were occupied, everything was spaced far enough apart that it still felt very private. You can see Laura’s house from the site, but it never felt intrusive. Laura stopped by briefly with her two lovely dogs to say hello, but otherwise you’re truly left to enjoy the space on your own. We always felt like we had complete privacy and lots of room to relax. We would absolutely return and would definitely recommend this beautiful spot to others. A couple of things to note: there are a lot of mosquitoes and insects before sundown, so come prepared with bug spray. Also, since you need to pack out your own garbage and recycling, make sure you leave room in your vehicle for it afterward. Thankfully, a very kind neighbour helped us out when we ran out of space. The only suggestion I’d make would be offering garbage disposal onsite, but even without it, this place was still a 10/10 experience.

This is one of the best campsites we’ve stayed at. Greg is super friendly, the site is very accessible for a trailer camper, and the animals are very friendly. Not to mention it’s the best outhouse over experienced. 10/10 this will be our new place.

What a gorgeous spot! It feels really private and my dog loved romping around in the river. Also a great spot for bird watchers - lots of bald eagles, herons, sparrows and song birds! I was also treated to a chorus of coyotes in the night, I loved it!
