Secluded River Flats Camping
I recently stayed at this campsite, and it was a great experience overall. The site itself has picturesque views, with large, private spots that allow you to really soak in the natural surroundings. I particularly appreciated the amenities, including the BBQ, propane, picnic table, and Muskoka chairs, which made the stay comfortable and enjoyable.
The pit toilet was impressively clean, and there was plenty of wildlife to observe. We saw frogs, raccoons, and even had several up-close sightings of two blue herons that live around the river's edge at the end of the apple orchard.
While you could hear some traffic noise, the road isn't very busy, so it wasn't too disruptive. One important tip: a screened-in dining tent and head netting are helpful because the bugs can be bothersome at times, especially the small flies that get into your eyes, mouth, and hair. That said, there are also times when there are no bugs at all.
There is no direct river access for paddling, but you can carry a flotation device to a spot where you can get access to the rest of the river. Overall, this campsite is a great choice for those looking to connect with nature while still enjoying some convenient amenities.

We absolutely loved our stay at Janet’s secluded campsite. It was very private, peaceful and just perfect. We had incredible weather and enjoyed listening to the diverse birds in the area every morning. The bbq grill was a huge advantage and the campsite is perfectly positioned to give you sunshine and shade. The trails on the property were lovely and we even spotted an owl and a bald eagle! We can’t wait to return and highly recommend this site!

Janet is a great host! We have been camping at the “secluded river flats” campsite for the past 3 years now and we always have a great time! It is a well kept area, nice and private, the right distance from Goderich, and Janet always messages right back if you have any problems or questions! We look forward to camping again next year!

The property is amazing for camping with friends and there’s lots of things to do nearby as well. We enjoyed our stay on Janet’s property and would definitely recommend it!

This campsite was nice and large, and very private. It has a clean outhouse and nice amenities like a BBQ with table, a cooking grill for the fire pit, and some chairs with cushions. I loved the tranquil and natural surrounding, but it also has nicely kept lawn areas where you could spread out and play games. It’s a short drive to town and the beach, which we also got to enjoy. I would definitely go back again!

This place was perfect for myself and my friends, very well kept and an amazing property. We had the best time, would recommend to anyone looking for a nice quiet place to spend time with friends or family. There was plenty of room for anything you would need or want to do. Will definitely be going back soon!!

We had a great weekend at Janet’s property. Plenty of room for us to set up a few tents and let the kids run around. The site had everything we needed, the outhouse was very clean, and the BBQ, table and chairs were a nice addition. We will definitely plan to come back!

I new the camp site was going to be good as I was driving through Huron county. As I was getting closer to my destination I was heading through a valley of trees leading to a turn off in front of Forrester Bridge which lead me to a nicely marked trail.
The campsite itself was beautiful and open allowing me to set camp where I liked.. Surrounded by lush trees and a orchard, creek and river. I liked hearing and seeing all different kind of birds and ducks as we walked along the trails and riverside.
My family and I enjoyed a campfire under the stars with sparkling fire flies flirting about.
Very peaceful and definitely a place were I needed a little down time.
I would return and do a little more hiking along the Maitland River.

This campsite is quite charming!
There is a large open space that is equipped with a brand new BBQ, picnic table, dining table with umbrella, four Adirondack chairs, a firepit c/w grill as well as a brand new outhouse. There is an additional open space with what appears to be apple trees which provided and additional space for either campers or a recreational area.
These spaces are flat and would be quite comfortable for tent sleeping. The area is completely covered in grass which was meticulously maintained. There were trails cut around the property which made for lovely strolls around the property. If its long walking trails that you are looking for then do search for those in the area which are an easy drive from the camp site.
The campsite is nestled into a nice treed area and has the sound of birds singing to you throughout the day. Although we are not bird watchers it seemed as though there were many birds to seek out for those that are into bird watching.
Clinton is very close to the campsite and has all the shopping you could want for, for your groceries, beer or wine. It is a quaint little town (sadly most stores during this Covid lockdown) that would be nice to wander for a distraction during the day.
Craig and Janet are wonderful hosts. They responded to our questions and guidance queries within moments of our messages. We highly recommend this campsite and its hosts to anyone looking for a camping site in the area.
