Firewood is available on-site: $8 per bag or 3 for $20. Fire starters: $3 each.

This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community.
It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night.
The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead.
There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company.

This has a map and websites of in the area hikes and other businesses. There is a lake about 12 min drive from us with a nice beach. We will provide a pick nick table, unless other campers are using it. A short walk from us is a small Catholic country church, and you can walk to the Slate River Bridge on Hwy 608 and on Hwy 61.

There is a water tower providing utility water for washing or extinguishing camp fires. We have a quiet atmosphere for new and savvy nature lovers. s. There are no lights on this lake which makes it perfect for star gazing. The main entrance is very well marked and leads to the lake. This is where we host RV sites and tent sites. All nature watchers and sky gazers will enjoy the spaces we have here. Moose, bald eagles. wolves, otters, beavers, bears, owls and several migratory birds are common visitors. You will get to hear whippoorwills, several species of frogs, crickets, and sometimes wolves/coyotes at night. It is very important that pets be kept on a leash. In the lake there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area and firepit and picnic tables for everyone to access and enjoy the water and the shoreline. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. There are several firepit rings to allow campers to have their own camp fire and we sell hardwood. We also have a paddle boat rental. There is 30 acres of mixed forest, lake and marsh, and now we are able to be open year round. You will notice that some of the photos have brown for grass. Those are earlier pictures of when we first opened. All of our expanded areas are like that at first, and things have changed a lot over the last 4 years and, will continue to have "unkempt" areas as we continue to expand. Our newest listings this year are called Almost Paradise (shower unit) and more recently Rootbound Ranch (camping for those travelling with livestock or horses.) This also available for those that like to stay at a farm. If Backwater Paradise is full, you can enjoy the same attributes just across the road at Almost Paradise. Another site we have is Left Field. Its raw bush and field space in the center. This is where the marsh is. We are also working on a new trail between Backwater Paradise and Left Field and encourage our campers to enjoy the views of both of these spaces.

It was 1984 when John found his ‘diamond in the rough’, 20 acres with an orchard on the outskirts of Brantford.
O.K., so the house was nothing to write home about but perfect for building a construction yard…no neighbors except for the family across the road that used their property to build log homes.
By 1987 the old house was gone, a new one was being built and a shop for working on heavy equipment had been located about 200 ft. from Dr. the back door.
It wasn’t until 1996 that things changed very much.
Yes, the property around the house had benefitted from a wide array of trees and shrubs that John saved from the construction/demolition jobs he had done and that still thrive today but no big projects (except for equipment purchases) were ongoing.
A chance meeting with the neighbor across the road one day resulted in the following dinner conversation, ‘How was your day’ I chirped. ‘Not bad, so-and-so didn’t come in; the truck broke down and I took it for repair; I bought the property across the road, and oh, yeah I’ll need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ was John’s casual reply. ‘What was that’? I pressed. ‘Yes, I need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ he repeated with a bit more volume. Of course like anyone, I had questions, ‘Do you want peas or corn with dinner’? ‘What time do you want to go to get the truck’?
‘The property across the road’, 10 acres, still has the 4 storey barn with its twin tiled silos which was built in 1914 and the big white house with wrap around porch that once was home to a Doctor and his family. Built so the Doctor could see his patients in the front with the family living in the back was very common in the day.
Things remained relatively peaceful until 2000 when after studying alpacas for more than 6 years I bought our first three.
Back in 2000 alpacas and llamas were not frequently seen on farms and because they could been seen from the road they received A LOT of attention.
People driving by would stop and ask about them, ask if they could take a picture or two and that was when I would hear over and over again ‘You have a beautiful place here, I wish I/we could stay’.
Well, if you want to visit and stay in the city it’s doable, we call it a hotel. But visiting a farm and staying well, that isn’t so easy.
Each year we would see more and more families coming to ‘The Farm’ as they would call it.
Some came to see the alpacas and horses, some came for a stroll and to check out the horse drawn milk and bread delivery wagons, some to have family birthday parties, others to have engagement/wedding/Christmas card pictures…and so many asked if there was any way they could spend a day or two.

Site 1 is in our opinion the best site but not the easiest to get in with a larger rig but have had a 43 ft unit in there.

There is plenty of room to park tow or pull vehicle.

NOTE for 2025 water is not available at the sites as new lines are being installed. Water to fill your tank is available at our house. At present three of the sites have water feed from our home with potable water via garden hose. You may need to connect your hose to the supply line to reach your unit. When weather permits, early spring and late fall may not be available.

There is a water tower providing utility water for washing or extinguishing camp fires. We have a quiet atmosphere for new and savvy nature lovers. s. There are no lights on this lake which makes it perfect for star gazing. The main entrance is very well marked and leads to the lake. This is where we host RV sites and tent sites. All nature watchers and sky gazers will enjoy the spaces we have here. Moose, bald eagles. wolves, otters, beavers, bears, owls and several migratory birds are common visitors. You will get to hear whippoorwills, several species of frogs, crickets, and sometimes wolves/coyotes at night. It is very important that pets be kept on a leash. In the lake there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area and firepit and picnic tables for everyone to access and enjoy the water and the shoreline. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. There are several firepit rings to allow campers to have their own camp fire and we sell hardwood. We also have a paddle boat rental. There is 30 acres of mixed forest, lake and marsh, and now we are able to be open year round. You will notice that some of the photos have brown for grass. Those are earlier pictures of when we first opened. All of our expanded areas are like that at first, and things have changed a lot over the last 4 years and, will continue to have "unkempt" areas as we continue to expand. Our newest listings this year are called Almost Paradise (shower unit) and more recently Rootbound Ranch (camping for those travelling with livestock or horses.) This also available for those that like to stay at a farm. If Backwater Paradise is full, you can enjoy the same attributes just across the road at Almost Paradise. Another site we have is Left Field. Its raw bush and field space in the center. This is where the marsh is. We are also working on a new trail between Backwater Paradise and Left Field and encourage our campers to enjoy the views of both of these spaces.

It was 1984 when John found his ‘diamond in the rough’, 20 acres with an orchard on the outskirts of Brantford.
O.K., so the house was nothing to write home about but perfect for building a construction yard…no neighbors except for the family across the road that used their property to build log homes.
By 1987 the old house was gone, a new one was being built and a shop for working on heavy equipment had been located about 200 ft. from Dr. the back door.
It wasn’t until 1996 that things changed very much.
Yes, the property around the house had benefitted from a wide array of trees and shrubs that John saved from the construction/demolition jobs he had done and that still thrive today but no big projects (except for equipment purchases) were ongoing.
A chance meeting with the neighbor across the road one day resulted in the following dinner conversation, ‘How was your day’ I chirped. ‘Not bad, so-and-so didn’t come in; the truck broke down and I took it for repair; I bought the property across the road, and oh, yeah I’ll need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ was John’s casual reply. ‘What was that’? I pressed. ‘Yes, I need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ he repeated with a bit more volume. Of course like anyone, I had questions, ‘Do you want peas or corn with dinner’? ‘What time do you want to go to get the truck’?
‘The property across the road’, 10 acres, still has the 4 storey barn with its twin tiled silos which was built in 1914 and the big white house with wrap around porch that once was home to a Doctor and his family. Built so the Doctor could see his patients in the front with the family living in the back was very common in the day.
Things remained relatively peaceful until 2000 when after studying alpacas for more than 6 years I bought our first three.
Back in 2000 alpacas and llamas were not frequently seen on farms and because they could been seen from the road they received A LOT of attention.
People driving by would stop and ask about them, ask if they could take a picture or two and that was when I would hear over and over again ‘You have a beautiful place here, I wish I/we could stay’.
Well, if you want to visit and stay in the city it’s doable, we call it a hotel. But visiting a farm and staying well, that isn’t so easy.
Each year we would see more and more families coming to ‘The Farm’ as they would call it.
Some came to see the alpacas and horses, some came for a stroll and to check out the horse drawn milk and bread delivery wagons, some to have family birthday parties, others to have engagement/wedding/Christmas card pictures…and so many asked if there was any way they could spend a day or two.
In 2021 during a conversation with a friend I mentioned we were in the process of gutting the 1100 sq. ft. space downstairs and turning it into an Airbnb! Right away she said, ‘I don’t know why you don’t have a Hipcamp? You’ve got that great area by the new barn that Hipcampers would love’!
After a little investigation I found out what a Hipcamp was…and as they say, the rest is future.

We have four sites with 30 amp RV power. One new site with 50 amp RV power (no pictures as yet)
PLEASE NOTE:
There are no outhouses/washrooms on the property, you must be self contained.
Site 1 is in our opinion the best site but not the easiest to get in with a larger rig but have had a 43 ft unit in there.
Site 2 is fairly level and grass area. Back in only.
Site 3 is fairly level and grass area. Back in only.
Site 4 is also fairly level and grass. It is pull through and offers a view of the lake.
There is plenty of room to park tow or pull vehicle.
Should one need there are leveling blocks available to use located to the right of site 2.
The sites now have numbers either on the power posts or the panel box for ease of locating your spot.
NOTE for 2025 water is not available at the sites as new lines are being installed. Water to fill your tank is available at our house. At present three of the sites have water feed from our home with potable water via garden hose. You may need to connect your hose to the supply line to reach your unit. When weather permits, early spring and late fall may not be available.

We had a wonderful time staying at Beth’s little oasis! We booked this trip last minute as my husband and I needed a little R&R and this place did not disappoint!
The hottub was so cozy for the two of us, we had a table top little fire going and it was very quiet and peaceful. You have total privacy on the patio, especially at nighttime! You do not feel like you are close to the house or in a shared space at all.
Our dog loved the space also as the area is fenced in, she enjoyed lounging in the snow lol!
The composting toilet was totally fine and easy to use and navigate. We visited in the winter so no running water for the sink or shower, but Beth left us water for washing and that did the trick! We also brought some jugs of water ourselves and we basically winter camped with a cozy bed!
We walked the pier and visited the shops along the strip which was super cute, before heading to Lynn valley trail to explore:)
We played games and ordered pizza and had a great adventure:) We also used the BBQ for a delicious steak dinner the one night.

Weekend Trip to Pine the Sky
This was an amazing stay. First, it was extremely last minute as we booked it 15 minutes before showing up. Despite that, Joan was very accommodating and set us up right away. It was a nice basement unit with everything we needed included heated floors in the bathroom. The property itself was also beautiful - though we didn’t see a lot of since it was winter. Overall Joan was a great host - friendly and responsive. Highly recommend

I had a great experience hot-tent camping on Kemp and Nancy's property! It was a beautiful area, and both Nancy and Kemp were very helpful and kind to me. I highly recommend booking their spot, and it's so close to the trails. I will come back!

Weekend Trip to Pine the Sky
I rented one of the bunkies this weekend for the 2nd time and its amazing. The bunkie has a bunkbed as well as a easily adjusted heater that keeps you nice and toasty. Highly recommend coming here. Joan is wonderful and very accommodating as well.

What a beautiful land- truly grateful for the opportunity to stay at Big Rock Eco Resort. Thank you to Jason and Susie for being wonderful hosts. The Cabin itself was beautiful and has more than enough amenities to enjoy a stay comfortably. Directions were clear and easily understood. The experience was very peaceful and enjoyable, literally so quiet out there. Lots of trails to explore and we were able to skate on the lake and the hot tub was a big bonus. A big thank you to Rocky and Jason, who helped my guarded dog socialize so he could enjoy some play with a pup friend! We all had an amazing time, will be returning in the near future!

Weekend Trip to Boho Bungalow in Port Dover
Beth was the best host anyone could ask for! The bungalow was cut clean and comfortable We had amenities for tea coffee and she was even so kind that she shared some drinks with us because the liquor store was closed. She also provided us with a microwave that was not originally included and it did come in very handy. We felt like we bonded immediately. The hot tub was a delight and heated porch area. Beth was kind enough to allow us to use her bathroom for a shower and it was not ackward at all. We had plenty of privacy. I would highly recommend staying her as it was not expensive at all.

My friend and I went up for a short trip and found Wilma's farm here. It was a great experience! The lady who checked us in was not Wilma but she knew what she was doing! She was very kind to us and was very clear about the rules. She even gave us a list of things to do around the area. We checked in during the day but came back to camp at night. We felt very safe there and because it was cold we camped in my car. I would recommend this place! The workers are very sweet and we felt comfortable being there as two women in an unfamiliar place.

We didn't end up going to the location after booking it for a night because of snow but Nancy was flexible enough to provide us refund. She from her own told us its ok if you don't come over even on the day of the booking. This shows that she has some values. We will try and go over to her location anytime soon. Nancy is a great host.

Weekend Trip to White Pines Cabin Retreat
We loved Gillian and Jim’s property. Our stay could not have been better. Their hospitality and kindness went above and beyond. Their attention to the little things made all the difference. They aim to please by exceeding all expectations, more than any other host we have experienced. The three of us were very comfy and had lots of fun after dark by the fire and inside playing games. We got lucky with clear skies and sun. The stars were out and the sun in the morning was glorious. We only had time for one night but it felt like so much more. We will certainly be booking again and highly recommend to anyone looking to connect with Nature and relax.

We had an amazing stay at Carl’s place! The location is peaceful and beautifully maintained – it felt like having the whole forest to ourselves. The fall colors around the pond were absolutely stunning, and paddling there was pure calm. Everything was spotless, the hookups (including water) worked perfectly, and there was plenty of firewood ready for us. It’s a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy nature – we’d be happy to come back again!

We first stayed at Angler’s Camp over Labor Day weekend and loved it so much we came back a month later for another weekend. Steve is a great host—friendly, welcoming, and keeps everything in perfect shape. The place is peaceful, quiet, and has everything you need. My husband and I really enjoyed just sitting back, reading, watching the stars, and soaking in the calm. It’s exactly the kind of relaxing getaway we were looking for.
