River Bend Havens - Camping Located on the banks of the Mersey River, this picturesque location offers a mix of relaxation and adventure. Whether it be mountain biking on the near by Wild Mersey trails, fishing or swimming in the river or just enjoying the tranquility, this place offers that unique experience which is only 15mins from Latrobe. Our Campground is for self-contained vehicles only and all campers must have their own toilet. There are no dump point or rubbish bins onsite so all waste/rubbish must be taken on departure. Pets are most welcome but please keep them contained. All sites are on the northern end of the property as per signage. Camping in other areas of the property is prohibited. Strictly maximum of 2 camp vehicles (i.e. caravans/campers etc.) and 6 people per site. Please note: there is a water pump station at the northern part of the site on the opposite side of the river adjacent to sites 7-9. This pump station does emit some noise during periods of operation.

Winter stay. The cows are not for us, there was nothing in the listing to let us know there were cows in the camp area and with a dog that’s obsessed with rolling in cow pats this made our stay a lot less relaxed, we had to go buy a shovel to deal with all the pats and in the mornings the cows come over and say hi, cute until they start chewing the strap on your solar panels. I know some would love the farm experience so don’t let it turn u off just be aware it’s a thing. Would come back but only when the cows are not around given the lack of people mentioning it in reviews I don’t think it’s a problem all the time. Oh the weather was super windy but we didn’t get hit at all sooo sheltered.

Winter visit:- sites 1-4 are a little sparse on grass right now and quite muddy so given it’s unlikely to be busy just grab one of the other sites.

A peaceful getaway close to home

River Bend - Site 12
We enjoyed our stay at River Bend Havens. We camped here with our two dogs and 9 month old baby and were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. Some highlights for us were the visits from the resident platypuses and some very friendly cows. There is also an abundance of birdlife which was great for us bird watchers. It is the middle of winter and we discovered after our first night that the site we originally booked (site 12) doesn't get any sun during the day. So we ended up moving to site 2 so we could get some sun on our solar panels. So for others visiting this time of year (July) just be aware that sites 1-4 are the only that really get any sun during the day. The noise from the water pump that others have mentioned is noticeable but didn't really bother us; still very peaceful of a morning, late afternoon and evening. The only noise that did take away from the tranquillity was an excavator on the doing some work, which operated throughout the day. Even though it was in the distance the sound did seem to echo around the valley. Other than that it was an excellent stay and we would stay again. Also thanks to Faye the site manager for your friendly communication 😊

We love being able to camp by the river. The sites are very spacious and it's peaceful. The river is good for all sorts of activities, kayaking, swimming and fishing. We saw a couple of trout jump while we were there. This is our second time and we will return 🙂

We loved our stay here. Unfortunately it was Easter weekend and we could only get one night . We'll definitely come back again. Only negative was the previous campers didn't clean up after their dog and there was heaps of dog poo to clean up.

Great spot , Very quiet . Just wish people would take the crap away . We have been there a lot and don’t want t see rope hanging from trees . If you want a swing that’s fine but take it down when you leave

Very picturesque camping spot. Spacious and level with easy drive in from the main road. Caretakers very friendly and obliging. Fire pots supplied. Beautiful river for swimming kayaking fishing. Will definitely return. Thanks Auntie Faye !

Our group stayed a few nights here. What a great location, nice and late close to river for swimming and kayaking. Great host, Faye and Jim were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. Love the spot Will stay again. Thankyou

Beautiful peaceful place by the river. The river is easily accessible and has spots to swim, paddle and kayak ☺️ The road in is good and the sites are easy to access. The provided fire pits were an added bonus !!

Great place to stay - very relaxing sitting by the river watching the platypus. We did see some confusion amongst campers regarding site boundaries. The numbered post is the centre of the site - it might need the addition of bi-directional arrows.

Beautiful tranquil and fun

Quiet clean peaceful sites. We swam fished and enjoyed some family fun beside the river. Large sites gave us the privacy we wanted. The overnight price was worth it. We’re planning on coming back. Thank you Chris and family 👍🫶👍
