Camp Nauvoo

The Rose family bought the property in 2016 with the intent to continue the tradition of tent camping as well as creating opportunities for exclusive events i.e., group/family reunions, weddings and corporate events.
We are a small privately owned small campground (19 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM (please review).
We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day.
We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers!
For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play. We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings).
The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing.
We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area.
We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site.
We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do not do checkins on Sunday but do allow camping over Sunday night. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation.
We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes.
We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream. We take venmo or cash.
CHECKIN IS BETWEEN 4 AND 8. IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE BAY ALLOW 4 HOURS - YOU MUST LEAVE BY 3:00 IN ORDER TO ARRIVE DURING CHECKIN. IF YOU GET DELAYED, FOR THE CONSIDERAITON OF THE OTHER CAMPERS YOU MAY CONSIDER WAITING AND ARRIVING THE NEXT MORNING. THERE ARE NO CHECKINS AFTER 9:00.

The primary funding source for the Finnon Lake Restoration is the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which was signed into law in 2004 with a mission to support “efforts that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region, its communities and the residents of California,” according to its Website.
Finnon Lake is also home to a popular 18-hole disc golf course and Mosquito’s only restaurant, Frank's Diner.

Welcome to our land, "the Ranch" as I've known it growing up, which has been in my family for 4 generations now. We've recently made many fun improvements for our own use, including the camp, bathtubs, shower, and trails - and we're excited to offer them. We do this for fun and a little extra income as a teacher (Dan) and army vet, artist (Mariah).
Mariah is also the gardener; I have built most of the camp out of recycled redwood. The treehouse is a peaceful and safe relaxation haven; feel free to sleep up there, but at your own risk:) In the MAIN CAMP, there are plenty of tables and chairs to help you decide which view is most beautiful, behind newly installed privacy shades between our house (for two of the campsites that share the hilltop with our house). In that camp is the main outdoor shower and bathtub which you fill with our mineral-rich well water (yep, iron-rich water which gets filtered out once before all taps). There is a full kitchen with sink, cutting boards and utensils, and a gas grill, along with an outlet (NOT FOR LARGE APPLIANCES), hot pot and coffee fixins for the morning, and access to a mini-fridge and microwave in the shed if needed.
You're welcome to explore any parts of the property north of the driveway, depending on other campers being there; we generally hang out on our deck or opposite side of the house south of the driveway and enjoy our own space.
*For hiking, you can get to "The Whaleback" by walking down past the Safari Tent and toilet, taking your first left and following the main trails which will cover the edges of our 34 acres, about 30 min. hike to the top of the ridge.
*The camp is near our main residence, but separated by a communal shed and privacy shades/fences. You may see/hear cars come and go, but we are a quiet and friendly couple (and Mariah's here only half time, splitting custody of her kids).
*There is an outdoor compost toilet. You cover your biz with leaves and it starts breaking down, eliminates odor, and will be regenerated into new soil (eventually) to grow flowers. Generally please pee in a bush, or use the commode and dump it in the bushes if you prefer. We generally provide TP, but please bring a roll of toilet paper to be sure it is available and dry.
*We have two old dogs! Both are super friendly, but the husky ("Beautiful") will bark at first. She's an alpha for our hilltop but makes friends quickly; feel free to meet her and show you're friendly, then ignore her and/or give her a treat if available in the camp. If you bring pets, please just introduce them slowly at first, and then they should get along famously. Owen, the golden retriever, is just a big lover - and they're both beggars, so if you give either of them food they might never leave you alone :) Throwing a toy or stick should work, or if available, give them treats from the camp to leave you alone. We let them out in the morning and evening but try to keep them out of your hair most of the time.
*There are five options to rent: The (private lower) Wedding Spot Safari Tent 6x10 ft. ($95/night with sep. shower/toilet/camp), the larger hilltop Safari Tent 10x12 ft. ($105/night), the Hilltop Campsite ($65/night), the Shelf Campsite ($55/night), and the RV-only spot ($40/night with no amenities). As much as I am able, I try to limit renting both the hilltop Safari Tent and Hilltop Campsite, but you may share the kitchen facilities with the Shelf campers, who have their own space. The (private lower) Wedding Spot Safari Tent has all its own amenities and RV-only spot has no amenities.

The Sierra Sol Camp project has been hosting community events and friend gathering for years. We take great pride in extending a warm and welcoming space for all our visitors and extending the invitation to campers was a great next step.
We have listings ranging from yurts to shipping containers, an old water tower converted to a mini suit to a vintage trailer and canvas tents. The diva den was my old music studio and the main cabin is our family cabin. This is a magical and sacred space filled with a ton of memories please come join our community and nook in the sierras and make some more.
We are based in between the middle fork of the Yuba river right where it meets up with Oregon Creek. If you like a long walk it is 2.5 miles down the dirt road to Oregon Creek and the middle fork of the Yuba. Driving takes 5 to 10 mins. The other direction is the largest lake in our county Bullards Bar Reservoir and Emerald Cove Marina. We are 1 mile down Marysville Rd. from a launch called dark day. There is a trailhead at the top of overflow boat parking for a public swimming hole on the lake.
On our property, we have a main house with its own private facilities such as a kitchen, shower, and bath. On the land, we have 9 total unique cabin and canvas tent structures converted into boutique-like campsites. We have an epic outdoor entertaining kitchen and patio with an outdoor pizza oven and a little dog rinse behind the outdoor shower. The bathhouse is right across the way and provides a private but shared guest shower house, tub and sink. The sauna and fenced-in dog area are near the shipping container site. The sauna has just been remodelled with a shower and bathtub right outside the sauna house.
Like anywhere in the woods there is an hour at sunset when you may have mosquitoes down near the sites in the spring and some of the summers depending on the year. We have a natural spray for that or fans in the kitchen. Off the path, you may find poison oak in the thick of the woods. So please stay on the marked trails.

This is primitive camping, There is water but it is not potable. so bring your own drinking water.It can get very windy out here in Spring and Summer. Come prepared. We have situated the campsites to be on the leeward side and as protected as possible. We try to leave the land better off than we found it and hope that you will share the same respect for the pristine beauty of this place. We are 10 minutes away from the quaint town of Tomale and 15 minutes from the town of Valley Ford. Dillon Beach is only 3.5 miles away. Easy access from road, close to town, tall oak trees, privacy, creek with salmon within a five minute walk, mountains, wildlife, barn owl nest box.
Guests love staying here: "Elderberry camp was really great! It was a large site, plenty of space, shade, and parking. Very peaceful and good distance between other sites although we were pretty much the only campers out there. Outhouse was clean and there was drinking water. We spent most of our Saturday in Eel River which was great. The water was perfect for swimming and fishing, our husbands caught some big ones. Stephen was very nice and accommodating, the honey and eggs we asked for were a nice addition too!"

Wild Plumas Glamping

The camps are completely private (each one has 3+ acres) and offer a large canvas tent, comfortable bed/bedding, outdoor kitchen area, hot showers, and more (check the listings for details). We are located one hour from the Mount Lassen Volcanic National Park, and minutes from swimming holes, lakes, and a million acres of National Forest- or simply stay at the property and enjoy the on-site hiking trails, free loaner bikes, treehouse, zip line, and kid's ninja warrior course. The campsites are also just a few steps from swimming holes along the creek that runs throughout. Pets and children are welcome.
Please note: Our community was severely affected by the Dixie Fire. Although you can't tell from within our property, the nearby area was heavily burnt, as well as the nearby town of Greenville. During your stay, you may hear the sounds of Greenville as the town rebuilds (1.5 miles away) and you may incur brief driving delays on your way here. When you arrive at Wild Plumas- an oasis of green within the black- you will see what a miracle it is that we survived! We thank you for your patience, and for your support of our small business during this time.
Wild Plumas consists of five sites total, each with their own personality. Each site accommodates between two-four people and additional adults are $10/night. There is no charge for children.
Site #1, The Wild Rose Bell Tent. This is our most popular site. Includes a queen-size bed and bedding inside our 20' diameter glamping tent (plenty of room for extra tents outside). Outdoors is a large covered kitchen area and picnic table, BBQ, propane firepit (propane provided), and an on-demand hot water shower, treehouse, and zip line. This site is easy to get to and is the best for larger groups, and it offers wonderful views of the property meadows and Sierra Nevada Mountains. It's a five-minute walk to the creek and private swimming hole.
Site #2: This Wolf Creek Adventure Site. The Wolf Creek site overlooks the creek and offers a tall wall tent (with a queen-size bed and bedding), picnic table, BBQ, propane firepit (propane provided), and beach. If you are traveling with very small children, or adults with physical limitations, we recommend Site #1 (Wild Rose Bell Tent) over the Wolf Creek Creek Camp, as the creek camp is more difficult to access (up a flight of stairs). This site has incredible views of the creek and Sierra Nevada Mountain Range.
Site #3: The Sugar Pine Bluff: The most private camp we offer. This site consists of an 18" glamping tent with spectacular views of the mountains and creek. Inside is a queen and double bed, outside is a picnic table, propane fire pit (five pounds of propane is provided (i.e. about five hours of fire time, with more propane available for purchase with the camp hosts), BBQ, and porta potty (potties are cleaned between guests but only completely emptied on Tuesdays. If you would like a brand new toilet we can arrange that for an additional fee- please note that the walk to the porta-potty at this site is a 5-minute walk and down a steep staircase). A short walk away (at the owner's cabin) is an on-demand (hot) outdoor shower that you are welcome to use. It is a 30-second walk to the creek and your private swimming hole.
NOTE: This site is up on a bluff and requires a short walk up steep stairs from the car. There is also a large dropoff to the creek, so not recommended for families with toddlers.
Site #4: The Lost Sierra Camp, our largest and most accessible camp. This is a very large flat site similar to the Wild Rose, with big trees and soft grassy areas, plus a fantastic view of the mountains. This site offers a queen-sized bed, picnic table, propane firepit, private hot outdoor shower, and plenty of room for bigger tents. Easy pull-right-up parking.
Site #5: The Cottonwood Grove, large, flat, and with pull-right-up access. This is a very large flat site similar to the Wild Rose and Lost Sierra, with big trees and soft grassy areas, plus a fantastic view of the mountains. This site offers a queen-sized bed, picnic table, propane firepit, private hot outdoor shower (a 5-min walk away), and plenty of room for bigger tents.
All sites have unlimited drinking water (the Wild Rose and the Lost Sierra Camp have their own spigot, the Creek and Bluff camps have water delivered), and none of the sites have electricity (except the Lost Sierra site), wifi, or hook-ups (cell phone coverage is good). All sites are extremely private.
