Clear directions. I stayed in sleepy hollow which was gorgeous. Lots of space. Flat. Shady but you could find spots of sun if you wanted. Dirt road for a few km but easily managed in my little 2wd hatch. Beautiful creek. And a truly delightful composting toilet set up (shared, a few minutes walk away)

Can't recommend enough. Kate is an extremely welcoming and responsive host. Awesome spot, a lot of love has gone into the property and it shows. Place has plenty of character. Tank water, firepit and porta loo made it a very comfortable stay. Hanging out with the animals was a highlight. All have funny personalities especially my new best mate Ezekiel. Would go back in a heartbeat

Weekend Trip to Glenmaye Farm

From the moment I drove through the gates of Glenmaye farm there was a sense of peace, tranquillity, surrounded by rocky mountainous hills. Matine greeted me along with her visiting friend and farm dog. Instructions were clear as to where to meet the host. Marine was very friendly and down to earth. I was taken to my campsite which was perfect for my solo trip away . Flat shaded area, compost toilet, close to small creek bed and very private, I couldn't see other campers. Firepit available, byo firewood or can be purchased on arrival . Plenty of kindling on site .. I thoroughly enjoyed the freedom of exploring the property, abundant of wildlife both dawn to dusk. The highlight of my trip was walking to the waterfall on the property. It was a scenic walk along the creek then meandering throughout the hills to come across a magical waterfall. It was lovely to sit and enjoy the peace, watching the skinks popping their heads out of the rocks to catch the sun. Overall for an off grid campsite, Glenmaye farm is a great escape from the busyness of life. Close to Benalla To note phone reception poor at campsite Thanks Matine I will certainly return

Milleara is a very neat and tidy property, Helen was very welcoming and did get firewood and firepit for us. The property is a working farm but very nice. We were camped not to far from the farmhouse and the barking dogs were really annoying 🙄, that was the only bad thing. Otherwise very nice stay.

This was my first solo camping trip and also first with Hipcamp. I’m so glad I chose Glenmaye. Matine was fabulous in the lead up to the weekend, patiently answering all my newby questions. My little piece of paradise was tucked away on the banks of the river with gorgeous willows along the bank. My first experience with a composting toilet too. Excellent! Thanks Matine, your gorgeous Dad and Ben for a great stay.

Weekend Trip to Glenmaye Farm

Our stay at Glenmaye was absolutely perfect - the landscape was beautiful and we passed our time there enjoying the natural scenery. The half-pipe was such a pleasant place to just unwind, and I've never been in such a homely and cosy outdoor toilet space! Matine was also a wonderful host, and she provided a lot of help when the weather made things a little tricky for us, as well. Would very gladly come back!

We had such an awesome time staying at Peter’s space. We stayed on Site 2, and it was super private. It was almost like a private valley, with a friendly horse visiting us occasionally. Would recommend!

The Fern Glade

Nestled right beside the Murrundini River, all 3 campsites are beside the river, and well spaced apart for privacy and peace. Campsite 2 (site two) is shady, surrounded by tall swamp gums, black wood wattles and tree ferns. This spot is at its best from late spring through to autumn . Site One is a large flat area beside the river that is good all year round. It has fencing and gates, perfect to let dogs run free without going too far. Site 3 (Craig's flat), is a large open campsite, able to take more camper-vans/ tents with plenty of space. All sites have fire places and gas BBQ's (byo gas bottle) And there are plenty of fish for those that want to try their luck. The original home stead (built in 1876) burnt down in the 2009 black Saturday fires. There still remains many 150+ year old elms and other European trees near the toilet block, which are delightful in autumn. We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset. We're located only a few short km's from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. We are a short drive from Melbourne, and easy access to the townships of Yea and Yarra Glen for supplies if you need them. Amazing, abundant and rare bird life to enjoy and photograph. (see guests photos). With no light pollution this is the ideal spot for star gazing.

Nestled amongst the mountains just outside of the township of Whittlesea our 40-acre property sits above the clouds. This experience comes with sweeping views, a hidden waterfall, a clear campground, and plenty of wildlife. The camping area is accessible by 4WD only, otherwise, strap on a backpack and earn it! (800m walk/hike from where a non-4WD can park). The waterfall is reached by a single trail track from the campsite, and you do need to be an experienced hiker to get to the waterfall. Which is part of the appeal! We welcome self-contained campers, who bring their own toilet and take all waste with them. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy. Or choose to stay in our beautiful A-frame cabin, with plush bedding, cozy fire, and outdoor lounge. More than anything else this is a place to relax and be away from normal, live outside yourself, and rediscover what weekends are for. Dogs are welcome, so long as they don't bother the wildlife. North East Vic is a tourist mecca, with food and wine, lakes and rivers, cycling and markets, mountains and waterfalls. - We are only 2 and half hours from Melbourne and 20 mins off Hume Fwy, via Wangaratta. Please read the whole listing, lots to tell you about us. Campsites 1 is large and can accommodate two vans and 2 - 3 tents (or 14 -16 people). Campsites 2 and 3 are smaller and more suited to one van with 1 - 2 tents (or 4 - 6 people). Ample car parking. Campsites are 110m apart with a light screen of trees in between, no crowds here. Accessed via 3.5km of rough dirt track - not recommended for low vehicles or low towing vans. The track is rough BUT easily driven by all vehicles - just drive slowly. Dogs welcome, firewood is easily gathered by you, and often in piles by your campsite. Campsites are NOT near water. They are near a dry gully, with an **** unfenced dam.**** We have a beautiful swimming hole at the property entrance, in Boggy Creek. Guests are welcome to enjoy the shaded lawn area, BBQ and pot belly fire. The creek is 3kms from the campsites. Near The Hut is the gate to take a walk up to Sugar Loaf (500m return), where you can see amazing grass trees and place a rock on the cairn. Look for the wallabies that live up there. Stay with us to get away from crowded campsites, to enjoy a quieter holiday, while being close to a great tourist district. The King Valley showcases wineries, gourmet food, eateries, restaurants, pubs, brewery, even a gin distillery. We are surrounded by creeks, rivers and lakes, with many fishing, swimming and kayaking options - all within a 30 minute drive! Take a walk to the top of Sugar Loaf, and see unique grass trees on this rocky hill, while catching sight of Mount Buffalo. 8kms to Moyhu which has a pub, coffee shop, general store - all with great food options. You can get petrol, take away, gas etc.

The Whip Stick Forest campsite is located on the outskirts of Bendigo. This is an ideal place to take a break away from it all. Peace and tranquility surrounded by nature. We are just far enough away from the town to offer the outdoors feel and close enough to town to enjoy sightseeing, and many outdoor activities and access to shops, fuel and most of the usual shopping needs. Here you will find a nice open space amongst the gum trees with drinking water, toilet, and outdoor shower. rubbish/recycling bins and access to wifi if needed. Relax under the stars with a warm fire in a secluded spot in the middle of open space and the fresh air. The property is fenced off, so you can feel safe and secure. You can relax and let the kids can run around knowing they are safe inside the camp ground. There are five dogs who live here. They are all friendly and love people. Especially Daz who will be your best friend while you stay here. If you don't like dogs you probably shouldn't stay here as Daz loves people. Only minutes from town where you will find supplies, close to the local swimming pool and 10 minutes from a popular watering hole. Enjoy all that Bendigo and surrounding areas have to offer, check out the historic gold mining attractions and come home to rest in a tranquil setting amongst the trees, the birds and the stars. Bendigo itself features some fantastic heritage architecture and a creative community. Be sure to check out coffee houses down little laneways and the many culinary options of the restaurants in town.

A genuine wilderness experience with forest (tree) bathing, spring fed creeks and total peace for you and your group very close to Melbourne. You can hopefully spot our resident platypus and kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, wombats etc. There’s also abundant bird life including lyre birds and eagles. Explore all the Yarra Ranges has to offer including a short walk to Shiprock Falls. Grab a coffee or pizza in nearby Gembrook and checkout some farm produce from your hosts before you leave. If you wish to visit local areas where dogs can’t be taken, you can book your furry friend in to be dog-sat here on the property while you go out exploring. * As this is a farm, and is surrounded by other farms, there may be farm noises like dogs barking, sheep baa-ing , cows moo-ing, horses neighing, Guinea fowl squawking, and/or Belle the Needy Noisy Nubian Dairy Goat calling for her feed (or rug if it’s cold!) We endeavour to provide a peaceful environment, and this is generally a lovely quiet location which more than fulfils our own personal requirements for an undisturbed lifestyle, and will no doubt do so for the vast majority of campers. But we can’t guarantee it will always be completely silent during the day or at night- especially if the lambs or calves or foals are being weaned from their mothers! Ear plugs are available for light sleepers if required. While we are all for socialising and having fun, if you want to party loudly into the wee hours we would suggest finding a camping spot far away from neighbouring properties where the sound doesn’t carry for miles across the land.
