Mount Sugarloaf Retreat

We loved our camp under the Rubbing Tree at Mt Sugarloaf! It was such a great contained place for kids and dogs to run around and enjoy the country air. We went as a group of friends and enjoyed mountain biking, swimming, yabbying, playing cricket and generally enjoy the space that we shared with the beautiful Horses and cows. We had a great meal at the Avoca hotel only 10 mins away and enjoyed our campfires meals back at base too! Rick was very friendly and accommodating and we would definitely love to come back to his property. Thanks Rick!

What a fantastic spot. Came with a bunch of friends and there was heaps of space and plenty of privacy. Had some good weather and sat up on the wall overlooking the reservoir having a few drinks, great way to spend a weekend. Spoke to Rick a few times and he was super friendly and very helpful.

Thank you Rick and Julie for allowing us to stay on your farm at the Rubbing Tree. We had a wonderful weekend of just relaxing, looking over the reservoir, watching all the birdlife, saying hello to the horses who kindly came up for a visit, admiring the bush tv and checking out the town of Avoca. We didn’t get to meet our hosts however Rick kindly called us when we arrived home to make sure that we had a great time. It was a very much appreciated call. We will definitely be back.

Australia Day Long Weekend camping

Rick informed us of some terrible weather approaching the weekend and gave the option to reschedule with no issues. He was quick to respond to all of our queries regarding the property. Rick met us at the gates on arrival and was very welcoming to the group and showed us the area. The site was clean, peaceful and the kids loved the animals that were very friendly. Would 10/10 reccomend! Thanks again Rick!

Stayed here for five nights with our camper trailer and had a very relaxing break away. Great location made use of the reservoir, kayaking and swimming. Visited local wineries, and locations of interest. This is a great value camping location.

A great spot!

The woodlands site was a lovely secluded spot to camp. The directions to get to Ricks place were clear & plenty of water available if needed. It was quite windy & dusty in our time camping, but we made the best of the conditions.

Really enjoyed the peace and quiet Far enough from other campers at different sites which made it fantastic for our dog to be able to roam around and not disturb anyone else Rick was very helpfull from start to finish Communication was outstanding Plenty of firewood delivered to site and even cut the grass for us before arrival 10/10 Rick👍

We absolutely loved staying on the Woodlands site on Rick and Julie’s property and both hosts were very friendly and helpful. The site is flat, well maintained and perfectly located on this picturesque property. We are definitely coming back!

Our 2nd stay at Rick's property and this one was better than the first. A little peaceful spot away from the other campsites. We loved our stay here and would easily recommend this one! Rick was great, always welcoming and easy to communicate with. We can't wait to get back here!

Perfect spot for a quiet weekend away, yabbie dam site was private and our dogs loved it. Rick & Julie were helpful and friendly. We spent saturday morning 4wding on sugarloaf track and checking out waterfalls and governor rock lookout tower. Spot of fishing on sugarloaf reservoir in the arvo with no luck. Great spot

This Hipcamp is everything you imagine a Hipcamp stay to be. But be warned - it will set the bar high for other stays! Communication prior to our stay was prompt. Rick’s farm is stunning. Beautiful views and plenty of space for campers. We couldn’t see the other groups so it t felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Rick was great checking in to see how things were going. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. Thanks again Rick and Julie for opening up your home to campers

Wow what a great long weekend away. Rick was wonderful to communicate with, welcoming, provided lots of wood and made our experience great. The land is beautiful with kangaroos, birds and cows to wake up to. Thank you so much for letting us spend the weekend on your property. Do yourself a favour, pack up and go enjoy it yourself. Great game for departure is getting the kids to search for rubbish so that no footprint is left. 1 piece of rubbish =s one Lolly. 😁

Beautiful farm to stay

This camp is so peaceful and tranquil. If quiet is what you want, then this is the place to stay. Rick was very helpful, providing great firewood for the 4 days we were there. The sound of farm animals and the bird life is full on. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sugarloaf and we are planning on going back soon.

Two Days in Paradise at the Yabbie

What an absolute piece of paradise! The directions were straightforward and easy to follow, and accessing the site early was no trouble at all—Rick made it super smooth. The surroundings were stunning, and the wildlife was delightful—friendly blue wrens hopping around us, a curious echidna, and roaming kangaroos. I didn’t get to try yabbying this time, but I’ll definitely give it a go next visit. We arranged wood with Rick and had oodles. We settled in under a star-filled sky—it was magical. We’re already planning our return, and I’d love to meet Rick (we missed him this time due to a prior engagement and a day trip). This place is perfect for a longer stay, and I can’t wait to bring our grandchildren. Will absolutely be back—this place has captured our hearts!

Loved it here. Rick is a legend and so very welcoming. The site is well sheltered with lots of trees to explore and puddles for the kids to splash in. The other camp sites are well spaced so you wouldn’t even know anyone else was there! We will definitely be back.

A beautiful, peaceful spot. Perfect for sitting around the camp fire and listening to the birds. My dog loved her off-lead walks around the farm. Rick was very helpful and easy to communicate with. Thank you for a great stay.
