The spot is beautiful. We didn't have a 4x4 so we had to hike up with all our belongings but it was worth it in the end. Really private location and loved the little deck area near the campsite. Found that very useful.
The reason I have mixed feelings is to do with the host communication. As soon as I booked, I had some questions and sent them right away. Mainly I wasn't sure if there was any drinking water up there as the listing and reviews were saying different things. I also saw mention of a pizza oven so asked about this as if it was confirmed then I would have loved to have prepped some pizza dough to take.
In the end I did receive a reply after a week but neither of these questions were answered and after I followed up the week before we were due to arrive, i still received no response. This meant we arrived to find no drinking water that we could find, and a pizza oven which was quite frustrating. The place as a whole had a lot of ammenities but all very run down. Broken chairs etc. I think with the HipCamp charges and fees we ended up paying $200+ for 2 nights here and it just didn't feel worth that kind of money compared to other Hipcamp spots I stayed at.

I haven’t stayed at little A yet. I’m rescheduling my stay as I couldn’t take my little kids and dog there in the 40degree plus heat especially once I realised we’d have to walk quite a way. Patrick has been very responsive to my messages and very understanding about my need to shorten/reschedule our stay. I’m looking forward to our stay.

There was no water provided on site, which made it difficult to manage basic needs during the stay. It would be helpful if this could be clarified in the listing or improved for future guests.

I was really looking forward to our glamping stay in the A-frame cabin, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. The structure itself looked charming at first, but the night turned out to be extremely windy. The foundation of the house felt unstable, and the whole structure shook noticeably throughout the night. My partner and I barely slept due to how much it moved — it didn’t feel secure at all.
On top of that, there was no access to clean water, which was very disappointing and inconvenient. For a camping experience, I expected at least the basic essentials to be taken care of.
Overall, the setting had potential, but the lack of stability and basic amenities made it a very uncomfortable stay. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless serious improvements are made.

We stayed with a toddler and a dog, and had a great time. The site was well organised and the A frame was clean and cosy. Our toddler loved reading books in the beanbag under the loft bed. A gas bbq and a wood fired pizza oven made life easy and we loved watching the sun set together from the giant hammock. The speed bumps going up the driveway are pretty intense, as previously noted. We have an Outback and still struggled on some of them. I'd recommend taking them on an angle at the edges, where the gradient isn't so steep. The way down is much easier.
Overall, we loved it. An easy getaway from the city with a great view.

Great views, sadly really in need of a tidy up and general maintenance to justify the cost. Broken furniture and construction materials about the place. Toilet was just 2 stained portpotties. Has potential, but needs care and attention.

Patrick’s spot is amazing! I stayed by myself with my dog & there was so much space for us! It would easily accommodate large groups.
The views over the mountains and area are amazing, both sunrise and sunset are spectacular!
Can confirm as mentioned the driveway/road in is steep, no issue for a 4WD, but any other car you’d want to leave at the bottom and hike up.
I will definitely be back to this spot with friends, definitely recommend!

Cars and motorbikes reving engine till 2am junk piles you must walk arount to go to the bathroom witch has toilet coverd in fecies bad experince! I was booked for 2 nights after 1 i left and booked a nearby hotel do not recommend poor upkeep of poperty for almost $100 a night very poor money grab business

The negative reviews for this site seemed overly dramatic to me, I wouldn't be discouraged. Glad I wasn't.
Absolutely perfect location, great selection of amenities, nice outlook, decent phone reception. Gas bath is great. This location would be incredible for larger groups over a weekend. Recommended.

Reading some of the negative reviews had me a little nervous about this one. However, we had a great experience. I suspect other guest were anticipating glamping conditions, which this is not. Although it is still a step above regular camping amenities!
The A frame was clean and comfy, the pizza over and cooking pits worked a treat. We felt completely isolated and loved it. Our dogs had a blast and were safe the entire time. It was only two of us, although I'd definitely go back with a larger group and tents.
I would just note that a regular sedan wouldn't get up the driveway (clearly mentioned in the add) so we were prepared for this and our AWD made it up no problems. Glad it was my husband driving and now me!

Breathtaking view from the camp site. So close to town yet so isolated. Few areas around the site could improve with bit of tidy up, and toilet and water access wasn’t the most convenient but all forgivable with the views. Had a wonderful camping trip with the whole place to ourselves. Would love to come back.

Well honestly speaking, I loved the view of this place and its a nice place to camp.
But, but as I reached the campsite I was absolutely disappointed with its maintenance and upkeep. Honestly, it's absolutely overrated and over priced than what it is in reality. Paying $60 per person per night is absolutely not worth visiting this place, I don't recommend people.
I would rather visit multiple times to one of the most beautiful campsites I have been to lately which is at "Frank Farm", which offers so much for fellow campers at such an affordable price with just $55 dollars per night for 2 guests.
I have been to more than 10-15 campsites from hipcamp, and I never experienced so badly maintained properly ever before, when it has so much potential to offer to campers.
The entrance is very confusing as there's no clear instructions or notice board for visitors about the property. Further, the toilet was not even a toilet, just a portable toilet on a shed without a door, and wide open.
Furthermore, this property has a Glamping site which is priced at $431 per night for 2 guests. Well, in terms of its maintenance, and facilities it is absolutely worthless to visit and spend money on. I highly recommend fellow campers not to spend so much money even by mistake. You might get intrigued by its views but please don't.
I have always reviewed places with positive words, but I am sorry Patrick, your property doesn't meet expectations and doesn't match with its overrated price.

Amazing location up at Magic Mountain - I had the whole camp area to myself on my overnight stopover. Plenty of firewood around, beautiful views and a peaceful place to stay. Highly recommend!

While the overall experience was pleasant, I was disappointed by the lack of essential amenities and maintenance. For instance, despite the website and email stating there would be water available, none was provided. In addition to this, the portable toilet was inaccessible due to being full of waste, and the bath contained rainwater and mud with no fresh water available. The cabin's door was left partially open, allowing leaves, spiders, and other insects to enter, some of which were found in the dirty bed sheets. We left first thing this morning and to be honest I was really disappointed to have paid hundreds of dollars for a poor experience. I offer this feedback constructively, hoping that future guests will have a more accurately advertised and well-maintained experience.
While I understand the rustic nature of camping, it's important that advertised amenities are provided to ensure fairness for paying customers. Lastly, I just want to point out that I have read some of the reviews and they too aren’t positive and have stated a very similar experience which is even more disappointing.

Patrick was a great and communicative host. Fun drive to get up to the site (strongly recommend a 4x4 with some decent clearance). Excellent views and convenient amenities. Highly recommend this spot.

The camp-site felt relatively private from the A-frame up the hill and the views were beautiful particularly at sunset. The only issue I had was that when I arrived there was a tradesman at the site cutting tiles to repair the hot tub. He had no idea the site was booked and was kind enough to quickly pack up, but as a solo female traveller it was unnerving to turn up to an isolated camp site to find a stranger there. He also left a pile of tiles and buckets behind. I informed the host I was alone and valued privacy prior to my trip so this was a disappointment.

This is a fabulous property. Definitely a 4WD/AWD access on road in. Worth it for the spectacular views. We had AWD + trailer, managed fine.
Great table for meal prep, BBQ and outdoor furniture for lounging in the views.
A bit of TLC and this place would go from great to excellent.
Recommend BYO firewood.

So much potential, but lacked the attention to detail to justify the cost.
Bath is no longer on the deck as the pictures show. We were not provided with the plates, cups and cutlery as described. Head torch provided didnt work either, so I'm glad we packed our own.
The drive way is still very difficult for a non FWD to get up. Our car died halfway up the hill, and we had to hike up the rest of the way with our belongings.
That being said, the views are amazing, the bed was comfortable - it just lacked the love and attention it deserved.
