Chestnut Farm is only a short drive to the local wineries, alpaca farm and only minutes from the cute little town of Canungra with its famous pies and coffee shops. For a bit of mountain air take the short drive up to Mt Tamborine to the artistic hub of Gallery Walk.
Chestnut Farm is a peaceful, serene place to camp. Enjoy native wildlife and an array of birdlife as you relax and unwind by a cosy fire. Take advantage of the local area activities such as hiking and horse riding trails, mountain bike tracks and climbing escarpments.

Please note: 10 km of this route is gravel road. 4x4 vehicle access is recommended.
Option 2:
From the Centenary Freeway roundabout, at ripley head 21 km along Ripley Road, which continues and changes name to Undullah Road.
This route is 4x4 access is recommended with some narrow bends – please drive to conditions. We do have 2 wheel drives make the journey !

You are welcome to choose your preferred spot. There's lots of tall trees for shade and the grass is lush and soft. There is a fire pit (when fires are permitted) so bring marshmallows to toast for the children.
This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. There is access to water but no rubbish facilities are available. All rubbish has to go home with you
We have lots of wildlife in particular birds, hence dogs need to be on a leashes at all times. We are located half way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, with the bush giving our property great privacy. There is lots of opportunity for bush walking.
Prospective campers have to get on site by daylight, as there are no dedicated spots and access could be difficult.

Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot!
The Stonesthrow Bush Camping sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. These sites have access to facilities - toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Some sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. THESE ARE THE ONLY SITES THAT CARAVANS CAN ACCESS.
The Stonesthrow Elevated sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own sealed, chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites.
Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers. Please note, the availability of certain sites is weather-dependent.
We are not a 4WD adventure park. Vehicles must be left at your campsite and NOT used to explore the property. Exploration of the property is welcome by foot or bicycle: 1.2 km from bottom to top.
Due to insurance considerations, no 'day visitors' are allowed unless they have an approved Hipcamp booking.
We are a Leave No Trace campground - ensure what you bring in, leaves with you.

Great little spot to get outdoors and relax.
We had such a lovely time, it was peaceful and so relaxing to sit and listen to the birds (and goats in the distance).
Enough space to be far enough away from other campers.
It was raining the entire time we were there and the ground drained quickly so it wasnt too slushy.
The track in is steep so a 4wd would definitely be recommended.
The creek is a short and easy stroll from camping spots, the path down is a little slippery in the wet, but just adds to the adventure!

Absolutely amazing. Highly recommend as we had the best most relaxing weekend. Despite the weather we were super comfortable, it had EVERYTHING you needed. Kathryn was awesome and very accomodating. My big pupper loved it too 🥰
This was extremely well thought out and im so greatful we got to experience it. We will deffinatley be back

One Tree Hill was our first camping trip as a family of 5 (four kids) and we absolutely loved it!! The property was stunning and not too far from the GC (important for impatient kids 😅). The site that we booked was right next to the animal paddocks and ended up being the perfect spot. We were close to the bathroom/toilet and farm house, and further enough away that we still had the full camping experience. The animals, playground and creeks gave us so much to do and the kids are already asking to go back.
Next time we'll venture further back into more secluded paddocks.

Lovely location. The view was spectacular. Nice and spacious and we were away from the other camps.
The kids had a great time feeding the animals, would highly recommend getting a bucket of feed. Even when not feeding the kids were able to pat a few of the animal.
The host family were lovely and approachable.
Would recommend for a quick get away or a long stay

We loved the secluded private section that One Tree Hill had to offer, it was a last minute decision for us to go camping and this spot was an absolute Gem.
Would recommend! The sounds of nature & the views were spectacular.

Set up at the curtain fig drive was very easy as it was just after the entrance. Beautiful place, friendly family. Great stories about all the rescue animals and animal feedings twice a day was lovely too. Plenty to explore around the property.

Loved the fairy garden, was a fun walk with the puppies with lots to see and smell. The site was great - had everything you need and was nice and private, feeling like you’re in remote bushland without the long drive. Kathryn was extremely friendly and helpful.

Amazingly beautiful down to earth, accommodating host Kezza, the powered site was absolutely perfect for us as we were transitioning from tent camping to trying out our first caravan, amazing time with family kids didn’t want to leave. Would highly recommend this for someone chasing a quiet serene atmosphere.

Stayed at site Dead Tree Alley and it was fantastic, plenty of room, the facilities were a short close walk yet had plenty of privacy. Guy was great to communicate. Highly recommend and will be back for another stay.

Absolutely perfect, we could not recommend staying in the cabin more!
Kathryn has thought of everything, right down to the smallest details. From the freshly baked sourdough and mulberry jam on arrival, to pre-filling watering cans for the kids. Everything was intentional, and so welcoming.
The gardens are stunning. There’s something magical in every nook and cranny, with so many beautiful spaces to relax and unwind. My favourite was the tea garden, curling up there in the afternoon with a tea (or wine!) and a good book was bliss.
The experience for the kids was just as special, with daily crafts in the fairy garden, and being able to have drinks delivered while they created made it feel like a proper little retreat for everyone. They had the best time making things, sipping milkshakes, and exploring with other children, showing off all their favourite spots.
Kathryn and Phil are incredible hosts, and hearing about their future plans has us already planning our return!
Don’t hesitate booking, go see for yourselves!

One Tree Hill is the absolute perfect farm stay. Guy is an incredible host and could not fault his hospitality. The amazing range of animals and experiences make this place so special. We loved exploring the property and all it had to offer. Highly recommend and cannot wait to rebook.

Quiet, no one else in sight. Have been twice before to Carp Central. Space for kids to play, carp fishing was a hit as well. Not far from Rathdowney town and Beaudesert.

Great spot! All the sites have well maintained lawns and fire pits, close to clean toilets, a lake for swimming and some kayaks free to use. Site 26 had shade and some others too.

What a great site! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Boat Ramp. The access to the water is amazing from this site and the site is a really great size. We will be back for sure!!
